  1. 56 this is exactly where you want to be as a top line club. A solid 22/23 that's hard to budge and even some super solid players are struggling to stay even when they pony up and put in a great performance. What message does this send to the usual 22/23 you think?
  2. For sure ... However, JJ made a massive case to stay last week. Albeit only one week to go on but was quite a come back game. Stats from last week also indicate same...
  3. Reckon if they were 'all in' on Petty forward this would be the case (Tomo over Macca) That Macca offers a potential dual option of playing down back or forward is a bit of a tell here. Is Tomo's potential for getting his next call up (bar injury) is in a funny way somewhat dependent on how successful (or otherwise) the Petty forward experiment goes from here?
  4. Tough call on JJ but them's the breaks when getting close to a full list with many in good form. He will work his way back in no doubt but might have to be patient. Where's Harmes at? Top bloke and been so loyal / consistent with his week in / week out application / attendance throughout his career. Very unlike him to miss for weeks on end (bar injury). Hope all is well here
  5. The main commentator is also bog ordinary and very hard to listen to imv. Maybe ok for VFL but shouldn't be doing the main gigs
  6. Lol Carlton player drops ball while being tackled (play on!) Picks it up again while being tackled then drops it again ....all while being tackled (play on!) 🤣
  7. So two players at a contest.... at least three umpires in visual and not one of them sighted the clear high free (round the neck almost a headlock) tackle against Zurhaar haha. However, any hand on a Carlton forward's shoulder and it's instantly called.
  8. Thanks Sue. Very good article and analysis. Significant change from 2021/22. Interesting how theyve completely divided the field between them. I like
  9. Yep no issues last year there. They did have the usual mosh pit yelling out dumbass abuse at our fellas & the umps but thats par for the course. The rest were just decent Demon folk plus the regular local stoners
  10. Yes that's the one Kent... I literally take ear plugs now and use them at half time because of her. Not sure what happened to Robbo. Wish he would come back.
  11. The Brissy Squatters
  12. McCluggage & Starcevich are honest players but super slow to assess and dispose. Ashcroft having some impact so far this season. Hope the filth play Quaynor on Kozzy when we play them as they did with Cameron for most of the night.
  13. Daniher doing his best to bring the Pies back into this. I'd be subbing him around about now
  14. Yes i reckon Daisy should be replaced with our on-the-ground spruiker for the half time Demon Dash. She's so much easier on the ears 🙉
  15. So can someone clarify this for me pls... Player takes a mark under severe pressure with opponent bearing down. Opponent runs over the mark in his attempt to spoil and put player off from marking. Umpire then calls player (who has gone past the mark) to come back a meter or two and stand the mark where he (the umpire) believes the mark was taken. Player goes back but then does not stand the mark and keeps going back away from the mark. My understanding was that if he's instructed to come back a meter or two he cant then decide (for himself) that he's now going to run way back behind the mark to an 'outside 5' set up. In other words the player standing the mark can't have it both ways, especially when instructed by the umpire to go back and stand the mark. This happened just now in tonight's game... with the umpire doing exactly the above but then allowing player to go back and actually calling him as 'outside 5' after initially calling him back 2 meters (to stand the mark). Anyone??
  16. Whoevers going up in the ruck the last two contests for the Pies.... both times he clearly had hold of Daniher's jumper....no free
  17. The Lions running a plus one around stoppages. Theyre defenders also making sure they (mostly) remain behind the ball most of the time. Even when in possession so they can cover off any turnovers a little better and clog up the mid field space that the Pies love to almost always run through in waves looking for the overlap
  18. The Pies alot better at winning the second ball tonight
  19. Macanerny 🤮 there
  20. Some of the Lions defenders wow. Andrews not going with Miachek ...he lead out with no opponent. Bobby Hill wandering around on his own with 15 meters around him.... And again!
  21. What the. How does that happen? Theyve had a horror week
  22. Also got stacks of interconnecting buses including many via Chadstone. Heaps of bus routes also head into Chadstone from pretty much allover Melbourne.
  23. The same MCC that took our home ground advantage away when they stopped us training at the G in 1985 SW It ceased to be our genuine home ground from then onwards. The thought that we have always been a part of the MCC is a nice bit of football romance from yesteryear but in reality the connection was only marginally kept afloat for some time by the MFC/MCC offering dual memberships for those MCC members who wanted to take them up. The FD & players garnered no match day advantage (when playing at the G) vs most other Vic clubs, other than those that rarely play there including interstate clubs, from 85 onwards. As you know we were cast out and ended up at the junction to train where no VFL matches were played at all from the time we commenced training there in 85 so no home ground advantage here either. Since then (until maybe post the Stynes / Bailey era?) we have always been treated as the poor cousin by the MCC and asked to train in a cow paddock (until very recently) down the road at Gosch's and share facilities with multiple other codes. This romantic view that we must be 'near' our sprititual home (in a training/HQ sense) is a lovely idea but that's all it will ever be until or unless we are willing to look at something that offers a realistic development opportunity somewhere away from and outside of the CBD/MCG precinct. Where, as Old Dee has succinctly pointed out infinitum, all possible alternatives within those inner Melb precincts have been well and truly exhausted and are now defunct. Even if there is some sort of development at Gosch's, surely given the constraints of all the various parties and their self-interests/agendas, we will end up in a massively compromised outcome that is not even close to A grade vs the rest of the comp?
  24. If that development is well under way and we havent announced anything then i'd be surprised if we are part of it? If so that leaves Gosch's and given the restrictions/limitations on building anything substantial in and around that precinct i would think whatever is announced is likely to be pretty modest at best.
