  1. Push in the back is non-existent when playing against the filth. Among umpteen other rules of the game that are governed very diff when playing this mob.
  2. Agreed. I still think our weakest links are too weak to have us take games against this sort of opponent to anywhere near a win but hopefully we can push them to within a few goals or so before it blows out late. That's provided we don't use Clarry as a tagger. Worst move ever that telegraphs to the opposition that 'we aren't winning this so i'm just gonna limit the blow out" and hands the oppo a massive win from the get go. They don't have to think about covering our best mid - extractor / distributor (when he's on) at all ❌️ If we're tagging Neale ...Sparrow (who's in no man's land) and a bit from others like Spargo (mostly ineffective atm anyway) ✅️ McVee to Zorko ✅️ I hate honourable losses but those weak links are presently uber putrid with not much at Casey to replace in a form sense (yet).
  3. With the title of this thread I suspect the OP just wants to break the all time DL record for "number of pages in any one thread"
  4. Unless he is not the sub? Is there a slim chance that might end up being Fritta?
  5. I'm on a similar line here Brownie and a fair assessment in general from you. My only issue is that we should've taken advantage of such a stalwart backline earlier. Had we got our act together up forward from about the end of 2022 onwards. I'm not sure what this would have meant in terms of progressing beyond semis for two years running but pretty sure we wouldn't have gone out in straight sets in two consecutive years. The price we'll pay as you say, will not only be still having to solve the forward issues (including personnel) but then having to find the replacements for some of the aging KDs in the next season or two. I too am a huge backer of Turner playing almost always as a forward. Unless we lose the likes of a Petty or need to stack the backline to protect a lead or hold up an oppo on a big momentum run. I've been saying this for quite a while now. That's not to say Disco isn't a good defender either. He's very good. But his mobility and marking prowess up forward plus his reasonably accurate set shot kicking, is something we've sorely lacked so far in 2025 and pretty much the last 2.5 seasons post BBB. Add to that the fact that he is also showing some significant signs that it's all starting to click for him in terms of running patterns / forward craft and getting some reward for effort on the scoreboard. His pressure is quite reasonable also at ground level without the ball for a taller player. Just guessing on this from what i'm seeing though, i haven't checked the numbers to back that up. While i'm not saying he will become a Neita or someone like that as he doesn't have a No.1 KF build or top end forward talent about him, i can see him becoming a very handy 2nd stringer IF we can find someone to put into the No.1 role to help him out. Does that No.1 Key Forward come from the existing list? Not for mine. We'll need to go on a serious hunt to grab one imo. It's that or we are going to flounder and flop around for years trying to find home grown NQR solutions through the draft that probably won't do our forward stocks much justice in the short to medium term. Then there's the old adage, top end experienced KFs don't grow on trees and also tend not to find their way to the MFC. So there is that. Alot of things AFL look easier from behind the keyboard.
  6. The cupboard is bare mono. Shuffling the deck chairs. Lever & Vines the last cabs to bring back and hopefully we aren't rushing lever back. If Rick and May can find some form and Rick hits the ground running plus no more significant injuries or losing the likes of May, Rick, Gawn Melk / Kozzy etc. We just might win a few more than expected. I'm not sure there's a place for Fritta or Spargo in the 22 medium to long term. Consider AJ & Brown Dog for those two even if it's a minor upgrade and just to give them a chance to see if they can bring something to the table. Unlikely they're the answer either but who knows. They might bring a bit more energy, zip and pressure. Every little bit helps at this level. We simply have to play Turner as a forward from here and just let him ply his craft there for the remainder of the season. Don't see him as a 1st stringer tall forward but amazingly he is now our highest rated TF in 2025 (so far). Madness to play him down back, especially now Petty's back in.
  7. That's about three grades higher than our performance so far this year Praha. Even if it was accidental
  8. Boundary rider interviews Rowell & Anderson.. "How much did you guys playing juniors together help with your connection? It seems like you know where the other is all the time?" Rowell... "i reckon it's all the junior footy we played together" Boundary rider to Rioli... "That's eight in a row up here. How good is it playing in the NT!?" Rioli ... "Yeh really happy, the boys seem to love it up here. That's eight in a row now i think"
  9. You won't get a response from anyone at the club other than the membership hotline crew. Might be the same at most or all clubs but we are a closed shop and have been for years now. The AFL lives in its own bubble. Invitation only!
  10. Bruce "Jeffo" Banner!? I must have missed the transformation...
  11. C He was easily our LVP last week and is nowhere near our best 22 right now. Having said that he'll probably come out and kick 5 now.
  12. Asking a question from Gronk and expecting a sensible answer? Yeh nah! ...
  13. One of my early memories of my first GF attendance in 1972 where he starred up forward. Pretty sure my late dad had a minor bingle on our way to the G that day as well. Memorable for a few reasons! Always enjoyed his contributions and insights into the game on various footy shows. I'd say he & Blight were (are) two of my favs in the media over the years. Sorry to see him go so young. A tremendous talent and character of the game.
  14. Champion data had him as the highest rated ball user vs the Hawks in Rnd 9 on Saturday 💪🏼
  15. We are a mile away from elite with most things that happen in our forward half bing. If we were then this thread and umpteen other threads / posts / discussions about our woes in this phase of the ground & play / personnel probably wouldn't even exist. And we'd most likely have one more piece of silverware, or at least a GF appearance, since 2021.
  16. I'm not sure a recent great KF of the game (as forward line / offence coach) would be letting them off the hook after that diabolical performance (forward of centre) on Saturday Roost. I'd be calling them in for a completely separate day & session that focuses only on this aspect.... until it became wrote and 90% of the team finally nailed what is expected at this level. Even if it eats in to their normal recovery / off time. Too bad! Every designated mid /winger and forward gets it down pat or you're coming back for an extra session every bloody week.
  17. So when will you be sitting down over a coffee, or maybe 10, with Simon SPC? The impression i have is that he gives little regard for much of what happens forward of centre. Just bang it in, lock it it in and repeat. Is it any wonder we can't attract a top line KF, or even just a credibly rated one from elsewhere and that we haven't developed a succesfull one since Neita (17 years and counting).
  18. Feels like the tail might be wagging the dog a little too much Kev? Hope some of the players aren't back to taking the [censored] like the old days pre Roos If that's the case and it's crept into the habits of some, especially one or more of the leaders, and Simon has lost any ruthless edge he might have had back from 2020 / 21 , then we're potentially in for a world of pain from here onwards.
  19. Fantastic result given the start to the season and the pretty dour, uninspiring way we play the game for the most part. Some exceptions to the rule of course such as Koz, Langers, Max, Windsor and Melk (when fit).
  20. Open session... all are welcome to attend
  21. Incorrect The turnover king in the middle for us is Vines, averaging a hefty 5.9 turnovers per game in 2025. Ranked No.1 in the team overall as well. Clarry coming in at No.10 for us @ 3.1 per game and behind a number of other mids including Tracc in 2nd place (overall) with 4.7, Pickett (part time mid) in 3rd with 4.3 and Rivers (part time mid) with 3.8 Clarry has also reduced his average turnovers per match by approx 30% vs 2024 this season while increasing his effective disposals by 26%. Leading to a 4% increase in his disposal efficiency from 65.9% in 2024 to 70.1% so far. Across the AFL (vs other mid-fielders) Clarry is sitting in equal 99th spot for turnovers. On Saturday he posted the same average turnover numbers as he had done for the seven weeks prior to playing on Newcombe. He was no better or worse in a turnover sense vs his usual role. At No.1 for mids and the turnover king across all lines in the AFL is Merrett, averaging 6.1 turnovers per game so far. Vines sitting in 5th place.
  22. Confirming my gut feel that he's a much better alternative as the lock down 'go to' IF needed. Absolutely no need to use Clarry who is much better suited in the extractor / distributor / link up, at and around stoppage.
  23. Based on their season average Player Ratings pre and post this match vs their Player Rating on the day, in simple terms (based on statistically weighted averages) a net loss for us on the day of 24.4% Bottom line, we turned a fairly minor 5.3% differential prior to this match into a massive 29.7% one in sending Clarry to Newcombe.
