  1. How was that 15 to Nick lol
  2. Losing these so predictable now in a slmilar fashion almost always. A serious clean out's needed of the turnover kings and panic players
  3. The usual 6 or more players letting this club down when the pressure wick is turned up with woeful skills and/or poor decision making.
  4. You would assume so as he appeared to be given that task after half time
  5. Which should not be happening. Club should have black flagged him with the AFL ages ago. Absolute sniper against us every time
  6. The good... Max, Langford, Clarry, JVR, Fritsch, Bowey (just), Culley (not great either but ok for only his 4th game), Lingers, Macca (holding his own for the most part) The Ordinary... Sparrow, Turner, Chandler The Shizen files... May, Viney (time's up? Regardless can no longer be in the middle... even for this second half.... anyone but Viney pls), Howes, Pickett, Rivers, McVee & Tracc (both going elsewhere?)
  7. Probably been well covered here. First time in this thread i think. But the more i think about CP5s year the more i get the feeling that he won't be with us next season. Hope i'm wrong but also hope we get a super deal back our way IF that does take place.
  8. Choco was one of THE great appointments of this club imv that helped catapult us to our first flag since 64 and broke the massive drought. I'll never forget how thrilled i was with the announcement that he was coming on board and have been grateful ever since. Ok so things dropped away in the last few seasons from a skills perspective but in general we went off the boil. New blood is inevitable in all clubs and sporting teams and no diff here, with old father time eventually catching up as it always does. To say Choco had a big influence on many of the boys is stating the obvious and well known around the traps. But this wasn't just at senior level. He really went the extra mile and made sure he was a constant voice and presence on game day at the majority of Casey games, egging on all the boys and providing his little pearls of wisdom along the way to many of the rookies plus support to any of the usual seniors who found themselves spending time there for whatever reason. Obviously at training also yelling out his very clear and basic instructions in his loud gruff tones. There was no mistaking who that was even without looking. Some things that people bring to a club cannot be easily measured. And for as long as it remained effective, i felt his spirit and voice around the boys was invaluable. A big thank you for everything mate and all the best in any future footy / other related endeavours.

  10. I didn't think i needed to remind anyone of what a crappola year we've had (even leading up to the game against the Hawks) GW Simon getting the chop was proof enough of that surely. If we had a stack of injuries or other excuses (like a serious off field issue impacting for many weeks) and/or a reasonable / middling year, i doubt anything that happened in the last few weeks would matter much at all to anyone considering taking on the senior role. The senior leaders (i'm assuming bar Max as there's no need to ask) were also asked (by Chaplin) to step up against the Hawks last week and 'drive the standards expected' (lead by example / guiding voices on the field etc). Well a few did but the bulk of them went AWOL. Hardly inspiring for fans / members or anyone else who might have been watching.
  11. Absolutely likely. No experienced coach worth his salt will want to coach a team that's completely bereft of spirit, will or desire to win a game of sport and showing dissinterest imv. Complete waste of time. A few first timers might as they'll be after the entry opportunity and the circus $$ that come with it a la MN. Also an experienced coach like Buckley would be basing his decision on a body of work throughout the year. We haven't exactly covered ourselves in glory in many matches. If he's teetering on the brink and witnesses two absolute howlers to end the season... yes, it might be the straw that decides things.
  12. Yeh i agree with this. There is absolutely nothing to take from this game aside from thumping the shiite outta this mob. If they come out and play like pussys two weeks in a row and AGAIN against the Pies you can forget any resurrection in 2026 and i'd very much doubt we'd see Buckley coming anywhere near us. Not that that's a certainty or a must (some might be pleased with that outcome) but i can't see him bothering if the players show they couldn't give a flying [censored] about the club two weeks running.
  13. Round 23, 2025 MCG - Hawks vs Demons Our 4th worst Team Rating for the season behind.... 3rd - Rnd 12 vs the Saints 55.48 2nd - Rnd 13 vs the Pies 50.95 Worst - Rnd 3 vs the Cats 50.6 Nearly 15% down on our already horrible 2024 Rating of 65.17 And the bottom 6 players Rating ...wow! 🤮 Good luck trying to even get close with that sort of output. We are now effectively two years into a nose dive with seemingly no sign of pulling up. Apart from honourable mentions of individual performances from big Max, Riv, Bowey and Culley (not bad given he's effectively a wet rookie), i failed to find anything else positive in a 'TEAM' sense about that performance which i thought was bloody putrid. The balloon is now fully deflated with any spirit and fight from this group now a long fading memory of what once was. I expect us to make the Pies appear to return to their flag favourite status with another Friday night fiasco looming. Whoever the the new coach is he will have a massive task ahead of him if he's to resurrect this list as it presently stands into a serious competitor once again and a group that plays reasonably attractive / watchable footy win, lose or draw. 14. Reckon Ken would give it a fair crack. Pretty much how i've felt for the past two seasons watching the seniors...
  15. To celebrate 40 years since being kicked off the G by the MCC and not having a home base since, i'll be posting a hit song each week from 1985. First cab off the rank...
  16. We were odds on for this guy....at least up until yesterday
  17. HAWKS MVP - Sparrow, apologies to May but couldn't get him over the line given it was his 250th Hawks training drills & pressure The SC for making sure Melk was the sub, thereby protecting him from his usual slow start to a match (ie: roughly the quarter he came on for as sub) and reducing the chances of pinging a hammy or calf (only the best player management at the MFC right there 👏🏻) Chaplin's forward coaching methods for 2025 season - which i thought continued to shine through in this match and increased his chances of doing same next season. This and the selection of Melk as sub showed that he is ready to take the next step as a senior coach at some point (probably only at the MFC though) The likelihood of Buckley / Other reputable ex senior coach coaching the MFC Gawn 1. Rivers Honourable Mentions ... Tracc, Petty, Bowsa & Langford -6.0 Pressure, Skills, Hardness, Effort, Desire, Will to win, Spirit and Goodwin's coaching methods over the last four seasons that see us mostly head towards the boundary and or bomb it long in straight lines on top of player's heads & also sees most (potential) marking players (bar Gawn) running under the ball and / or mids on ballers being lead to the ball by their opponents ie; not playing in front (old habits die hard!). -5.0 Comtinuation of sloppy zone defence after getting 5+ goals down (Chaplin). -4.0 Pickett continuing on with his recent preference of playing high school / amatures level footy. Hopefully he can step up next week and bring VFL levels!?
  18. I agree to a point but the two looming questions remain.... What if he can't fix the above the shoulders part to start with in terms of full on bull at the contest? AND He also can't improve (substantially to make a difference on the scoreboard more often) his goal kicking? Where to from there? We will be forever 'wishing' but potentially not seeing the best again. Maybe a change of clubs is inevitable and might not be the worst outcome for both. We also have a massive risk going forward with CO's topsy turvy form. I know it was a dead rubber today and only one match but any coach in the wings watching that trash would surely be thinking twice about taking this lot on as they sit now. As Macca said on here a few weeks ago.... "Time to drain the swamp" This is looking like a 5 year plus rebuild ahead. Both off and on the field. And that includes Chaplin who is either sent back to defensive line coach or alternatively shown the door. He can't be the forward coach in 2026 based on this season's debacle in that area. If he is you can also kiss 2026 goodbye. Our forward method / craft / conversion into goals is akin to high school standards at the mo.
  19. His form, both in game and from week to week, has been very patchy to say the least. He simply is not playing the hard / tough committed to the contest footy that we saw pre-injury. Understandable sure but much of what we are seeing in terms of topsy turvy form now is mostly above the ears. Not an easy fix but IF not fixed we are going into 2026 on very shakey ground with Tracc. His body language and frustrations in terms of clearly not bringing his best are also coming out as highlighted on last weeks Sunday footy show. Not a great 'team first' outcome at times. Needs to re-set and assess where he's at over the off season (above the shoulders) if we're ever to see the best of Tracc again from here.
  20. And will no doubt kick 5 or more against us to celebrate Not that i'm judging on one week's performance but imv Viney was a liability for much of the game last week along with Sparrow. I reckon the odd Brown dog wouldn't have hurt on the short breaks to manage Viney on some of the short turnarounds this season. Same with Max on the odd short turnaround (TC). The FD has not 'managed / protected' its older seniors brigade all that well over the last three seasons imv. With some exceptions. There's alot more to the decision than just 'a new voice'. What a dumbass bunch the AFL press are (again with a few exceptions)
  21. There is no 'proving' required for T-Mac & Melk They're not rookies. Both are experienced valuable 'required' players unless they decide they want to hang up the boots at the end of the season which, given their longevity in the game, would be understandable. T-Mac up there in our top two defenders this season bar a few off games about mid way when he probably needed to be managed but wasn't. Melk has been one of our best up forward on occasions and clearly one of the senior voices that knows how to play forward with some of the best forward craft of anyone on the list. Yes he's not the Melk we saw in 2018 and has slowed down / struggling a tad now when the ball hits the deck but he can still turn things on and is a tricky match up for an oppo coach / SC. Melk was managed during the season by Simon & Co. quite well imo. I'm not suggesting we rest all of those i mentioned at once. Just listing those i feel should probably be under consideration.
  22. No it certainly matters but some senior players should be up for 'managed' consideration in the last few matches GW. Not all at once of course, in the sense that you still want to field a competitive team both at senior & Casey levels. Personally i feel we've left the option to do so (if we're being fair to Casey) a little too late. Ie; if we went earlier once any chance of finals were shot we could have done it in drips and drabs without having much impact on Casey or the seniors imv. I also believe in this as a matter of course in-season at senior level in order to rest the odd veteran here and there a la the way the Cats senior vets were managed by Scott (and still are) during their premiership season. He did an impressive job with one of the oldest teams going at the time and i think others have trialled that afterwards. McCrae probably the latest although he may have over done things a tad at one point and they appear to have lost momentum coming into finals. They still have a few weeks to fix it but i hope they don't! Having said all that i'm of the view that a winning Casey is important for the club both in terms of good learnings (i hate that term... apologies in advance), for the up-and-coming rookies and positivity in general throughout the club (pushing for and maintaining a winning culture at all levels).
  23. It's too early to go the crow DZ but yeh those first two matches from JC are a beauty. We might have found one here but keeping a lid on it ... for now 😁
  24. Because the last thing we need is to lose either or both with a serious injury with only two matches left and nothing riding on them. I'd also rest Max for TC in these last few and consider also resting Vines & Tracc with a few ins from Casey. Vines in particular is looking pretty spent of late. Albeit that might stuff Casey's chances of cementing a spot in the top eight so there's that. I would not risk May either. Keep going with Adams. Can't hurt to get a few more games that have no meaning into him.
