Essendon in disarray - culture questioned

Shane Charters heading up the high performance side? -
Where's the bar?

Hogan's a mile ahead of anyone for contested marking craft. Taken the mantle over from Hawkins. Very good on the lead up timing as well.

Common Giants. Hope Hoges rips them a new one. Bedders to stick it right up Zorko's fat clacker!

I have to assume this is a cynical take George as his turnovers got worse in the latter block of games He actually looked 'ok' in small patches during some games but his lack of.penetratiom and inability to kick goals is a major weakness. Also as a small HHF or winger covering for Windsor he doesn't bring much pressure when we don't have the ball. This last part killed us in general this season. We were a terrible pressure team for the most part, only making the AFL average of 180 on a few occasions. You look at GWS & Sydney's pressure levels in the last quarter of their final GWS off the charts at 227! Yet just pipped by Sydney if you can believe it at 232 We were a mile off these teams at their best this season in this regard. Billings and the likes of McAdam (when he played) great examples of who you don't want in your team going forward IF they can't find this aspect coming into 2025. Need to move them on and quickly if so and replace with better.

That's the million dollar question. Preferably someone with millions of dollars who can help get the new facility off the ground. Diamond Joe 2.0 ! 😄

Our new president turning the soil to begin the new build on our own training facility, mostly funded by the state & fed govs

This is where the MFC needs to get on the front foot and start slapping these [censored] for slander with an immediate law suit. Under Roffey & Pert we've been way too quiet in general and way too soft as a club when it comes to standing up for the players and ourselves. We should've tried to hang on to PJ for at least another 3 to 5 years. He was a mile ahead of both in terms of representing and taking the initiative with the press / communicating with members.

Take no notice of the AFL media circus NSC. Anything to make out that we are no good and have a bad culture. Whenever they dont have a story or need one they make something up about us and pretend it's a real issue. Complete dunderheads who will always pander to their love children and preferred marquee players.

Amazing finish JJ

What a goal Ward!

Papley ducking ...AGAIN
-
Yeh he is one of the worst at that. And he doesn't need to keep bringing that rubbish so often. He's good enough to just get on with things surely

Thanks for that. A much needed memory ... not. I still recall a young Clazz sticking it to Garland one Sat arvo vs the Hawks at Box Hill. "Lazy defending mate, how about getting on your bike" 😬 And there was more than one bake that arvo lol

He's not alone. Heeney's also a serial offender. The Giants also have there's in Toby G

The Giants winning the tactical field battle so far

Toby Bedford! 😒

Hogan's been super so far. Note the Giants rarely if ever take the mark. 98% outside five to help protect / reduce Sydney's penchant to always attempt the 45 kicks into the corridor. As well as trying to protect againat the dinky short passes forward. GWS happy to give Sydney lateral short kicks or switch attemps...but ALWAYS protect the middle. Go wide if you like.. we're happy with that!

Uh BoG are you feeling ok? 'Playing at Casey' = 'Great spectacle' ? That's about as likely as the Peptides winning a final!

The stagnation and lack of consultation/comms with the member base on this has actually become pretty embarrassing now. Pert included. As you said they could've utilised the momentum following our success in 2021 but alas much of that appears to have been flushed down the proverbial. The boys delivered on the field and the top brass appear to have let us down since then.

You beauty. That leaves Koz sitting out only two more matches before he returns in Rnd 3!!!

They played Bont as if they were conserving him for next week! Seriously what was Bevo doing. He's their best by a mile and needed to be on the ball from about half way through the second when the game was up for grabs. One of the worst games you'll ever see from JUH, let alone in a finals sense. English not much better for such an experienced coveted ruckman. Ditto Darcy. Libba had a shocker as well and he's their go to extractor. Good luck winning with most of their best having such an off night.

A big ty to Kate for all her efforts and passion she brought to the club. She backed Goody to the hilt during a tumultuous 2019 / 20. We ended up achieving the ultimate the following year which i'm forever grateful for. Kate was one of us as well as attempting to play a key role at club / board level. I loved how she would happily mix in with the DA and have a quiet one or two when the opportunity arose. Was hoping she would steer us through the Caulfield shenanigans but alas no definite outcome as yet which is no doubt beyond her control but still dissapointing that we seem to be always a bridge too far. I see this last part as one of our most important cogs if we're to transform from a medium sized club, always chomping at the heels of the big boys, into finally cementing ourselves as a proper BIG Vic club from here. We need some good news on this and soon imho regardless of who the new president is. They need to get on with things quickly and get it done ASAP.
