GAMEDAY: Rd 02 vs Fremantle
Again... shld be man on man once they got the first two goals. Petty is a mile off the pace and his man. Early days but him & Rick look a long way off AFL standards ATM.

GAMEDAY: Rd 02 vs Fremantle
As good as CJ was last week, he's been pretty ordinary tonight.

GAMEDAY: Rd 02 vs Fremantle
Lindsay's not great in tight congestion situations. He's another year at Casey away imv. As soon as Moniz is at the level fitness and form wise i'm swapping these two immediately. The attempted sneak HB from Rooh to Koz....and the Petty panic one towards the end of that Q were both super costly 👎🏻 Once they had 4 to 5 on the board we needed to switch into lock down man v man mode in the 1st and didnt (couldn't?). If the coach won't call that switch up then Max def should even if it means overriding the general game style / method (trained) instructions. This is the diff between just playing like robots (even when getting smashed) and playing to win. There's too distance between Chin's worst and his best. Either bridge the gap pronto or back to Casey son. Unfortunately not much to come in from there so he probably stays. We are down one or two quality rotations in the middle. Vines on the other side of the mountain but still missed in the clinches when a lock down wrestle is needed like we saw in the 1st Q when they got off the leash. Far too many HBs at player's feet tonight and so many fumbles / not enough once touch players.

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Footscray VFL
Rhett doesn't appear to have alot to work with going on this performance but one week does not a summer make and first game rust etc. Should have a better idea see where we are at about Rnd 7 / 8. Sestan would've been handy for mine (at Casey) just for a bit of depth, experience, intercept play and connection by foot on the exits. Our D looked very shakey today but again, it's a first up game under a new coach.

Stats File 2026 Season
Yep that's pretty much what I used it for DZ. I'd compare to what i'd seen on the day or while watching the replay before casting my DL POTY votes. Have to say after watching Sunday's game I reckon we'll be much more easy on the eye vs some of the recent years where we could barely get to 8 - 10 goals or so on many occasions. That was a joy to watch. Much rather that style, even if we cough up a few gettable games playing that way.

Stats File 2026 Season
Thanks Wheelo. The comparative stuff is handy and a nice addition. Not that my contributions will be missed but with the latest iteration of DL's software i've personally found it tricky to just copy & paste my Ratings in anything resembling their original format like i was able to for many years prior to the update. In the past i was also able to format those tables a tad after posting them to make them more appealing and legible. Even vs their original formatting at my end. That option has gone too unfortunately. If there happens to be a future software update that makes it plausible / more legible once again then i might do an Arny. So after 8 years of team & player ratings it's...

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
That's a solid assessment Bubs. Refreshing to watch for sure. Having said that it's only one match. Personally i prefer to wait for a decent body of work before calling any sort of royal resurgence. Yesterday was a nice step though and the boys are likely to have grown in confidence and belief in Kingy's game style / methods / ability as a result. Mihocek was a great pick up imho, taking the pressure and spotlight off Rooh while providing a genuine second medium - tall threat and a problem for the oppo to cover. He is strong at the ball, timing of runs are first rate and he's also hard to bring down on the move. I'm looking forward to the return of Melk to add another part-time threat into the forward mix. And how was Culley! This bloke's really taken the bull by the horns and while he may not be a like for like replacement for Tracc, i think he brings his own sort of special up forward with decent impact around stoppages too. I also feel Culley has Tracc's measure in the air, which is a big asset for a mid-forward. Handy in front of the sticks. And that game after returning fairly quickly from the arm issue. Not bad at all. Now to give Freeeo the old heave ho!

Rooh a great half ✅️ Culley came on and gave us something around the ball and another target up forward ✅️ Harvey ✅️ Cuz looking good ✅️ Salem ✅️ Maxy much better 2nd Q ✅️ Petty ✅ Kozzy busy but its all through the middle and we lack a small classy cumbersome up forward. Can't be in teo places of course. Mihocek .... hot & cold Rivers busy but tends to kick blindly too often for mine. Lacks vision coming inside and a little finnesse Disco a diff role and quite solid defensively but also lacks a bit of vision & finnesse. Fritsch looks pretty good but too many shots from outside his range imv. Needs to find some targets more often. Howes NB Jeffo jogging around like he's playing high school footy. Zero intensity so far. Windsor busy but blazing away a little too often. Would love to see him hit up the odd short target coming inside. Lindsay decent with ball in hand. A raw youngster and needs plenty of time but defensively and AFL body wise he's still a few pre-seasons and plenty of time at Casey away imv. Lever's getting to some good spots but decision making and execution aren't great. So many up and unders also. Who's playing on Hill? He's one of their two major play makers and just running around out the back like its a Captain's run. I can't recall more than a few possessions/ involvements from Chandler other than the kick into space for Mhocek but i often miss some of his work around the ball defensively so might be wrong here. The Kolt. At times he shows signs that he's at the level and in the breath he looks panicked and a fair way off AFL pace.

The New Home Base & Training Ground Thread
That was a measure of the greatness of Swooper plus how highly the playing group rated tulip coming into his final swing song imv Macca. Add to that the fact that we had a proper oval to train on consistently week in and out (most weeks anyway) and we produced a short era of decent footy on the back of those stars coming aligning. There was still a bit of air in the balloon post Swooper's departure but it didn't take long before it fully escaped. Regardless, the whole club will be more settled, steady and better off once we find a genuine place to call home.

The New Home Base & Training Ground Thread
It's now 41 years since we were kicked off the G. This thread has now seen Covid in and off, watched as a President departed, another almost serve out his term only to be replaced by his vice, before the predecessor was then resurrected. 4+ years of the Ukraine war, multiple Middle east conflicts, skirmishes and now another war. Witnessed a drought breaking Flag. Seen many premiership players, Coach, President (who was meant to bring skills that would assist in landing said new training ground / home) and the CEO depart. The way things are going (or not going!) i may not last long enough to see the question mark on this thread removed.

Farewell Steven May
I think many around him lifted and walked a little taller when him and Rick teamed up at their best from 2021 and at least parts of 2022 and 23. The effect of that during this period, the driving of standards. 2021 might not have been if not for this desire to push through to greater heights. A player you could completely trust against any opponent on any day during his peak. Ty for fronting up day after day on the track, the gym, the on field second efforts, the bumps, the amazing spoils, the argy bargy / strategic discussions behind the play between you and Rick and your big part in so many emphatic victories. Forever our stonewall FB. Forever our Premiership hero Forever grateful. All the best Mayzie!
