This guy has played for a very good team for a very long time, he has speed and agility, and he cost us nothing. I don't care about contract lengths and figures, I leave that up to our list managers. I care that we got a quality player who will be in our starting 22 nearly every week, and we did not need to give up a single thing for him.

It would be a massive mistake to trade Gus, unless the deal was one that made us a far better team. He is a very good player who had a poor year, as did like 40 of his teammates. There are wide spread reports that he's had back issues, and he was also played well out of position for most of the year. Nobody thought he was slow when he came 3rd in the Brownlow last year, because he was playing in his natural role as an inside mid, where he excels. Unless he says I'm keen to go, I wouldn't even entertain a trade as neither Freo nor West Coast would have anything good to give us (that they would part with... I mean Gaff or Hill for Brayshaw sure, but lets get real!). I understand we have a surplus of inside mids, but contested ball wins premierships. You can never have too many quality ball winners.
