No one is able to perform when injured, look at Judd! mo64, I never equated individual goal kicking with team success. However as a forward, it is Robbo's main job to kick goals. He was our leading goal kicker this year, despite poor delivery from the midfield and so forth. Therefore, he has done his primary job. It would be nice if he chased more, didn't go to ground as often, etc etc... but he did his job.

40 goals = useless?

Look, I won't be devestated if he leaves, but given how many changes will take place over summer, it could be good to have a familiar face, especially for the players. If he goes, he goes, if he stays he will work under Bailey's instructions, so there will be no misguidance of the past!

Riley made the 5 person shortlist. He can obviously coach, given that other clubs are chasing his services. To have 3 of the 5 people who made the shortlist work at the club next year will be a great result.

Port Adelaide Premiership Player. Average footballer, but I trust Bailey knows who he wants and why. I also hope that Riley stays, his knowledge of our list will help Dean enormously.

I agree with that, and I think he loves the club more than most realise, and he will sign despite wanting a longer deal. You can't blame him for trying to get the best contract for himself, it is his livelihood afterall, but the club is 100% correct in only offering him two years. He is turning 29, not many 29 year olds get a 3 year deal when they've spent the last 2 seasons hampered by knee injuries. I also agree with tallstuey about Robbo's contribution to the side. He has had a relatively productive season given his injuries and our mediocrity (more like crapness). He averages about 3 goals in finals too, so there is no doubt he is an important weapon in September.

Exactly. Where are we going to find those 40-50 goals next year? I don't want a second round pick for our second most important forward, and one of our only match winners. If they are not willing to part with a first round pick, they can go get another McDougal. Just as a sidenote, if a player is out of contract, and he does not agree to a trade, what happens? I assume the only option the club has is to let him walk for nothing or sign him? I just can't see Robbo agreeing to leave. He will cave into our contract demands before he even contemplates leaving IMHO. My bias about this topic is kind of obvious, but I genuinely believe that trading Robbo will do us more harm than good. Edit: Great news about Jonesy signing a 2 year deal. We could have been a bit more generous and given him 3...

PJ had his arm in a sling when I saw him last week. Everyone is having surgeries at this time of year, that's probably the only positive of not playing finals, having extra time to recover. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Shinboner spirit or not, Archer is a wonderful person who does a lot of work in the community. Your disrespect towards someone who gives a lot back, more than most footballers, is completely unnecessary.

If they delisted Godfrey, who has played nearly all year and had a reasonably productive season, Ferguson is absolutely gone. We can only hope that someone is willing to offer a fourth round pick for him, and that we can use that pick on another Bartram. If we can't, it's thank you and goodbye. We cannot demand ruthlessness if we want to hold onto below- average depth players who have no scope for improvement.

Thank you to both Ward and Godfrey, two players who always gave their all and got the absolute most out of themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if, at 26, Godfrey puts himself in the PSD. Carlton could, and have, done worse A bit surprised about Neaves, but maybe they don't feel he is ready to be promoted so they'll delist him and pick him up again as a rookie? I guess he hasn't improved much over the year, unlike Jace Bode who just saved his career in time. I'm assuming the club will now try and trade Ferguson and if they can't, he too will be delisted. This is such a great move by the club, even if it is only a small one. It shows me that Dean Bailey really is looking forward and not hesitating in getting rid of players who are clearly not up to it.

I think you're right, and I think one of Daniher's biggest mistakes was to have too much faith in the list and expect it to be a contender over the last few years. We've topped up the list with essentially very ordinary players. Pickett had no application, Holland is just ordinary, while Bizzell peaked at the wrong time. Thankfully, we've continued to put a lot of emphasis on recruiting good players with our early picks and we've also found some gems with late picks (thanks to CAC). I believe (hope) that Bailey will partially rebuild around our 23's and under group, and over the next 2-3 years we'll see most of our senior players completely gone. And just on topic, I would trade Whelan for a good deal, but we won't get a good deal for him. He represents more value to the MFC than to other clubs... and I want him to play as a small defensive forward next year.

There is no reason why we can't finish in the top 4 next year, if a team like the Roos did. They are seriously one of the most average sides going around. Geelong were fantastic today and as much as I hate them, they look like they'll win the flag easily. What Geelong have that we don't, is a very very very good backline. Their forward line is good, their midfield is strong, but IMO it's their defence that sets them apart.

I'm so conflicted. On the one hand, barracking for Collingwood is criminal, on the other hand, the Eagles are criminals. Who do I hate more? Who deserves to lose? It's all too much!

Really? Well if you're right, then of course it's a different story, but if he does indeed have OP I'd stay the hell away from him.

I wouldn't be paying someone over a million dollars unless they can play 22+ games a season, with 85%+ game time. Judd is not capable of doing that right now, and we don't know when he'll be able to do it again. At the moment, he is not worth the gamble IMHO. Every game he doesn't play at 90% fitness, is thousands upon thousands of dollars gone down the drain. Any club looking to make a bid for him would have to look seriously at his medical records. Problem is, if West Coast don't want him gone, they might not want to release his records either.

It'll clog the board and confuse people. Terrible idea! I'll just delete the discussion posts once I lock it. Shouldn't be a problem.

Sounds good to me Jarka. Might want to add best avatar as well, since a few posters have mentioned it. Just set up a separate thread with the first category whenever you want to start, and when the allocated voting time is up, I'll lock the thread and you can count the votes.
