  1. Yes! I'm happy about this. Aside from the sentimental reasons, I agree that she showed potential and would have had her ahead of some others who were retained.
  2. Knew instantly which you were referring to!
  3. Was looking forward to seeing how the likes of Berry and Cordner might evolve, but them's the breaks. Hopefully Jakobsson can bring another dimension to our forward line. Go Dees!
  4. Tbh I'm just glad there's any kind of bandwagon for people to jump on. It's been a while.
  5. Some might have to wait for financial reasons. Or haven't been in Melbourne til now? Or like you say are jumping on the bandwagon, pure and simple
  6. Seems like we won't see much trade action this time round: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2017-05-17/squad-to-remain-relatively-settled-lee
  7. It's true and it's noticeable when a team is playing well, that it feels like every player is involved in some way, not just the ones with the ball or in the immediate vicinity. It's the player making an unrewarded lead to the right place to create place, the player giving a shepherd, the player chasing without necessarily impacting the ball carrier, the bodywork off the ball to give the potential marker a better chance. I noticed in one passage of play on the weekend when Adelaide had a chain of marks just outside our forward fifty, three times in a row our players made it to the player marking, not quickly enough to spoil, but just in time to lay a little bump after the player disposed of it. The third kick was off-target and the ball turned over. It's those little things that add up, physically (make them earn every kick) and mentally (perceived pressure that eventually causes a fumble or turnover). Luckily we seem to have players willing to go those extra few steps more often, Pedersen included.
  8. I think it was around 10,000. Apparently 5,000 Port supporters travelled over.
  9. That's the Clayton Oliver way. I think I'll just stay up all night watching this!
  10. I can't believe you underestimated us so badly, Abe. Well, by 6 points
  11. Just saw this being advertised and thought there might be some young demons' parents here who'd be interested: Junior member telethon 2017 - Register for your chance to get a call from an MFC player! How would you like your child to be called by one of the Melbourne Football Club players? Register your child below to receive a call on Tuesday 16th May between 6pm and 8pm. http://melbourne2.snapforms.com.au/form/2017-junior-member-telethon
  12. This will be interesting. I hope none of our key players are lured away, but it's always a possibility. Probably a good sign that there is that core 12-15 group that I'd be sad/annoyed to lose. It won't happen, but can you image Daisy running around in any other jumper? Perish the thought! In the bigger picture, consistency between lists year to year is so important at this stage, especially in terms of fan's attachments to their gun players. At the same time, there are probably players in the position of wanting to switch teams due to financial limitations, especially geographically. For the teams looking to fill particular roles that they lacked this season, beyond trading, there's got to be a lot of untapped potential out there in players who didn't nominate for this year for whatever reason. I get the feeling that some superstars are going to come out of nowhere... hopefully to the Dees!
  13. I reckon if they announced today that #40,000 will be presented with some kind of prize on Sunday, they'd get a bunch of people trying to win it.
  14. Always a favourite. Gets the best out of himself and always puts the team first. Never tries to do too much and as a result, often comes out equal or on top- an underrated approach! Congrats Jetta.
  15. I think both Daisy and O'Dea finished on 7 votes. So yep, classic vote spreading situation. A nice problem to have of course and hopefully continues.
  16. Had to slow down and enlarge to see properly. Smaller, speed of light version aka reality.
  17. Congrats to Daisy and Karen! And all the winners. From the MFC website: Winners and top polling players AFLW Players’ MVP, proudly presented by The Line Erin Phillips – Adelaide Crows (204) Karen Paxman – Melbourne (149) Darcy Vescio – Carlton (132) Most Courageous, proudly presented by Bob Jane T-Marts Chelsea Randall – Adelaide Crows (80) Brianna Davey – Carlton (57) Jessica Dal Pos – GWS Giants (22) Best Captain, proudly presented by KPMG Daisy Pearce – Melbourne (63) Erin Phillips – Adelaide Crows (30) Emma Zielke – Brisbane Lions (27) MVP Voting Process MVP voting is a two-stage process, beginning with each player voting for the three teammates they consider to have been the most valuable this season. Each club’s votes are then tallied to form a nomination list comprising 54 players across the 18 teams. In the second round of voting, all players vote for their MVP on a 3, 2, 1 basis from the nominees of the 17 other clubs. The votes are tallied and the player with the highest score wins the honour of MVP. Players cannot vote for their own teammates in stage two of the process. A similar process is followed for Most Courageous, but every captain is automatically nominated for the Best Captain Award.
  18. I believe there is a clause that allows this in such situations. Go Dees! Never in doubt
  19. I briefly heard Mel commentating on a game this weekend (Carlton v WB I think) and she was great, bringing some inside word on the players. Also humour, in particular when they were talking about a player who had been forced to choose between footy and equestrian, to which Mel quipped, "You call that a choice?" Glad to have her in the red and blue.
