  1. Of the three games against Freo, Sydney and Hawthorn, the Hawks are who we have the best chance of beating. Mainly because of Hodge and Lewis being out of course.
  2. I'm not blindly defending Roos or anything, but I feel as though the game plan is okay. We are simply crucifying ourselves with skill errors and lack of movement. When it all comes together (in patches admittedly), it is effective. There seems to be more of an emphasis on run than there was when Roos was at Sydney and I'm confident in this. As well as that, it seems as though facets of the Neeld game plan remain imprinted in some of the players minds, for example the stationary long kick down the line to a contest, whereby the ball is pushed out of bounds.
  3. To add to that, Garlett - tried and skilled. True for the most part and his breakaway speed is great, but he has to kick those freakin' goals when he is running into an open goal square. That's twice in two weeks.
  4. Fairly accurate, though a little rough on Garland. 8 tackles and held the last line a number of times.
  5. I'm sure he could have made more money at a club aside from the Dees back in his playing days. This thread is rubbish. There have been countless times on the Footy Show and other shows that Gaz has appeared on, where people have had a dig at the Demons and he has stood up for them. I'm not a fan of the decisions made when he had input, but that is what can happen when someone is roped into something that they aren't keen to be a part of. He is still a Melbourne supporter like any of us. Heck, he played for the club and spent a good chunk of his life there - his pain over the last few years might have been a lot worse than what most of us have felt.
  6. Zac Smith would be a great get for us. I could only see McKenzie for McKenzie happening if we somehow secretly swapped them and no one noticed... would have Trent over Jordie every day of the week.
  7. It might have seemed ridiculous but the selectors would have picked him for a reason. He must have been doing what was asked of him at Casey.
  8. Contrary to what seems to be popular opinion, I think Grimes should remain in the team this week. He did a good job in keeping Walters and then Ballantyne quiet, even though he didn't win much of the ball himself. Whether Watts remains in or not... I'm indifferent. No longer worth wasting words on that issue.
  9. WYL, you're only causing yourself pain. It's in the past, move on. These decisions were made under a different administration and our current one possesses some of the best people in the AFL at the moment. Let them take care of it and save yourself some unnecessary stress.
  10. 99.95% chance no one else on Earth wanted the gig.
  11. Possibly the greatest in a long series of blunders. But now we have to move forward and hope beyond hope that Roosy can form Toumpas into a good, solid player. I bloody wish we had have drafted Wines though :''''(.
  12. I'm sure you have many weird feelings h_h. That would be a welcome one though!
  13. I feel a little more confident against Hawthorn than I did against Freo that we can cause an upset. God, beating Hawthorn would absolutely make my season.
  14. Is there a statistic for intercept marks?
  15. But are experienced defenders. The fact is, we'll struggle to cover them both no matter what happens.
  16. Tippett would be more than happy to let the midfielders kick the ball on top of him. He's far too strong for Fitzy, and Fitz hasn't even played as a back in the seniors... McDonald to Tippett and Garland to Franklin would probably be the best case for me. This is why it's very frustrating to have Frost out too, he'd be handy on one of those guys.
  17. Of course not, but this is a thread (one of many) specifically about Jack Watts...
  18. - Terrible disposal. - Not sticking tackles, particularly in the centre bounces. - Not working hard enough to spread, get the handball receives or present for a lead. By my calculations, the above factors when presented against a top four side result in a resounding defeat.
  19. That's not something to worry about for a while, probably beyond Watts' career span.
  20. How the [censored] can we expect to be even competitive when we kick at 2% efficiency? When we can't stick basic tackles, or spread to offer options when we go forward? I know this is far better than our darkest days in the last couple of years but it makes me almost as angry.
  21. I try to keep a level opinion on Watts but lean toward not being enamoured with him. However, today's performance brings only one word to mind - insipid.
  22. There is no way McKenzie could keep up with Hill.
  23. Part of the reason, yes. It's all been done to death but in my view it was a cruel mixture of factors. Drafting players who had the wrong mindset, a coach in Bailey who by all reports did not push them hard enough (along with a lack of on field leaders thanks to the list policy at the time of Daniher) and then a coach who pushed the already fragile minded players far too hard... so hard that he forced himself out. Anyway, it actually, finally looks as though that dark age is in the rear view mirror. But that is the kind of environment that Sylvia played the majority of his career in - one where he wasn't pushed and wasn't the kind of guy to push himself. Just my view.
  24. At one stage, 95% of our list did not want to go to that next level.
