True. I actually think Pedo is quite good as a back up ruck, but I do prefer him up forward for as much time as possible. I think this just really shows how desperately we need to trade in another one, if not two ruckmen at the end of the year.

If only we could combine Gawn and Spencer, we'd have one hell of a ruckman. Gawn competed well in the air yesterday and clunked a couple of marks, but does need to hold onto them more regularly.

And I'm a little apprehensive seeing him play with one leg absolutely strapped up with tape. I half expect it to go any second.

Grundy is very young and raw though and Jesse White is a genuine spud. Max will really be tested against a solid ruckman or ruck duo.

One thing is absolutely clear though - we need to trade in a ready made ruckman at the end of the season, or we are proper farked.

We've only seen him once but it's Gawn for mine. Jamar no longer seems interested and Spencer's effort is admirable but he's just not good enough for AFL.

I don't think you can take too much away from Col in this respect Old Dee. He's always been a quiet guy and rarely put in the spot light. He's having a good year and on field looks as though he is enjoying the wins immensely, which he absolutely deserves to be. What makes you say you're getting the message that he wants to go?

Definitely. If he's asking for that much, let him go. But I do hope he signs on - he's a more important cog in the back six than most realise I think.

Totally agree. Roos is sifting through [censored] that has piled up for almost ten years. He's had one and a third seasons to turn it around and has markedly improved the side from before he was with us. I can understand everyone wanting a quick fix but we are getting better, there's no doubt about it. There is still the issue of the players 'knowing' how to win. Jones made a comment last year about the side becoming instinctive together and knowing when the momentum is beginning to shift in a game, and knowing what to do. They are clearly still learning this and it doesn't help with a lot of the core players out. We are getting there and it is due to Paul Roos.

It's a harsh view to take, but sometimes I feel as though Watts really embodies the mental scars. Even more than that, they were branded upon him by the club, in the darkest days through which his whole career has been. I don't think he'll ever have a successful career with us and he is not the only one (of course). We need to send him onwards with the others and get what we can for them, which will be mostly just list space. Continue to turn the list over, and it has been working the last couple of years with Taylor and co nailing the picks and the trades.

No to Toumpas, Hunt, Michie, Garland and Dunn. The rest I'd happily be done with if we can find better replacements, most by delisting and hopefully a trade for Howe if he doesn't pull his finger out. To add to that, I think Cross will probably retire.
