Would a suspended sentence help? -
I just hope it's not "Melbourne Bitter". It's too descriptive.

That's not what I heard. -
I'm a bit worried the AFL's grand plan is to merge us with North Melbourne and call us the Melbourne Roos.

Hogan Vs Daniher Vs Boyd Vs Patton

The scoring for leadership seems somewhat bizarre. Gary Ablett Sr would have been marked down on this score as would have Gary Ablett Jr when he was an 18-20 year old and I suspect Dustin Fletcher, Robert Harvey and other introverted players. So we wouldn't pick any of them because of this? Such nonsense. -
I think it should be scrapped anyway - but while the scheme exists, I suspect we'll be the beneficiary this year. My suspicion is that we might get something conditional as a form of priority pick, such as the rights to a 17 year old which we can only trade. In that way, this year's draft is not compromised and although it compromises next year's draft, by then everyone will have forgotten.

NEW DEMONLAND BANNER

Quite obviously the blacked out figure represents the Australian Federal election electronic media blackout. Presumably the picture of the most important person in Australia will be revealed after his identity is confirmed over the weekend. -
Minor amendment. I suspect long-term St Kilda supporters know what it feels like. Years of poor performance (was it 5 wooden spoons in the 1980s?) and when they finally become a decent footy side they get sidetracked by a silly schoolgirl, a sillier player manager and a really silly ex-Essendon player.

More importantly, did our guys have a Mad Monday? If so, presumably there was no inappropriate behaviour or, at least, any evidence has been satisfactorily buried.

I wouldn't have thought so. I suspect actual games of Finals footy will dominate. If the club wants to "dominate" the footy coverage, Tuesday or Wednesday would be the best days as all other days are dominated by selection news, match day coverage and post-match wrap up. But whether "dominating" the coverage is an integral part of the timing of any decision would be questionable for mine. -

As opposed to "true truths". Sums up the less literate media pretty well. -
Not a big pool to consider. Oakley-Nicholls, big Vic Aanensen, Phil Earley (did he even play a game?). Who else?
-
Actually, we could be ninth. But I'd take it.

What exactly is this award for? Best off-field behaviour? best administration? best governance (seriously)? And who decides?

Surely there's a clue in the reference to Bhutan. That's the place that measures Gross National Happiness. -
Should suggest this in the 2014 slogan thread

That's about a minute longer than me. (I thought I saw Julian Assange at the 11 second mark...couldn't be could it?)

Just like every year for the last 7 or so, all the best stuff for Melbourne supporters happens after round 22* and before round 1 the following year. This year is exceeding every other one so far. *Just for the pedants, Round 23. -

What we did is "sack" Mark Neeld; if Worsfold's not at WCE next year it's because his contract was not renewed. Semantics, perhaps, but a lot more respectful for a coach who not only coached them to a premiership but has played and coached there for over 20 years. Why am I putting it in this thread? Because when the time eventually comes, I hope we have declined to renew the contract of our next coach - and only then if he didn't retire on his own terms first. -
I didn't think we'd get Paul Roos, Peter Jackson or Mitch Clark. So I'm not giving up just yet on getting Ross Lyon and John Longmire as Roos' assistants either.

Another prediction (if Roos signs on): Sydney v Melbourne at the SCG, Round 2, Saturday night televised on Channel 7. (Round 1 still likely to be GWS v Sydney, in my view).
