  1. I assume developing Irish recruits takes more resources than developing kids who grow up playing Australian football. With soft cap limits, the club would have to determine where its development dollars are best spent. I suspect that at the moment we can't see the value proposition of Irish recruits. It's a pity, but if that's the reason I can fully understand it.
  2. How to say you never saw Robbie Flower play without saying that you never saw Robbie Flower play.
  3. That's the "dog ate my homework" excuse for the digital age.
  4. Is that Clayton Oliver in the third scene? Hard to tell from behind.
  5. Longmire might be many things, but I doubt he's a cannibal!
  6. And yet we were all in a very dark place.
  7. I'm struggling with the maths. According to the Hatch, Match and Dispatch thread these are the Melbourne changes: IN Tom Campbell (free agent, St Kilda), Aidan Johnson (Werribee), Harvey Langford (Dandenong Stingrays), Xavier Lindsay (Gippsland Power), Ricky Mentha (Category B rookie), Harry Sharp (trade, Brisbane) OUT Angus Brayshaw (retired), Ben Brown (retired), Kyah Farris-White (delisted), Lachie Hunter (retired), Alex Neal-Bullen (trade, Adelaide), Josh Schache (delisted), Joel Smith (delisted), Adam Tomlinson (delisted) That's 8 players off the list and 6 on. Am I missing anyone on? If those numbers are correct, why don't we have any vacancies?
  8. No real surprise. Sydney had clearly earmarked a transfer at some stage from Longmire to Cox. Implementing the succession plan now might always have been planned, but just not been made public. It's how stable clubs should operate.
  9. Fact? Prediction? Officially announced?
  10. Another person with a similar history to Josh Blanksby is Andrew Giles, CEO of VicRoads. Before that he was CEO of Racing Victoria and before that CEO of Betfair (Josh Blanksby also worked for Betfair). I'm not sure what would be easier - mending potholes or player relationships.
  11. Not sure that's correct about McVee. Nevertheless, the point you make is sound.
  12. Who's the blonde? Whoever he is, I'd love to see the club select him on the half-back line with Woewodin and Bowey. We could then just refer to the half-backs as Bowey, Woey and Snowy.
  13. Where does he use it? Here, perhaps? https://www.sidetracked.com.au/entertainment-centre/laserforce/
  14. I hope Langford reads this and responds accordingly...that haircut makes it look like he's wearing a badly fitted wig.
  15. To be really pedantic, it was first recorded by its composer Isham Jones (great name, by the way) in 1924 without lyrics. The first version recorded with lyrics (penned by Gus Kahn) was by Marion Harris, also in 1924. I think the reason I never made it as an AFL footballer was because I'd prefer this song to anything recorded by AC/DC. In fact, it's one of my favourite songs of all time.
  16. Thanks for this. But what is "private S+C coaching"?
  17. I assume the Greens will try and trade for him to eventually replace Adam Bandt.
  18. Will be the answer to a future trivia question. Just like Darren Jarman.
  19. We have picked some others, such as Laurie and Sparrow.
  20. Is the adjective "raking" ever used for a right footer?
  21. I assume Demonland qualifies as social media...so a somewhat ironic line in the OP (which is a very good OP, by the way.)
  22. I thought Bowey's kicking in the 2024 season seemed to be "off". If he's got this weapon back, he becomes much more valuable.
  23. It made page 1 of The Age print edition. That's a high level of publicity for what should really be inside the back page. Best part of the story, though, is the statement by Essendon that Dodoro's departure was "amicable". As if. How many amicable departures end up at the Fair Work Commission?
  24. You've pointed out that Petty is working the defensive lines. What offensive line is Cleary working on?
  25. I wonder if Josh Mahoney is still interested? I assume CEO of an AFL club is a more prestigious position than a senior role at the AFL.
