  1. Wow. By eliminating use of the upper case and now whole words, you've really minimised the amount of effort you need to produce your posts.
  2. Is it possible the State Government always expected to "take a bath" with it? Wasn't the idea to build the Stadium as an anchor tenant to encourage development around it?
  3. Ignoring for a moment the supply and demand issue which impacts on earnings, don't forget your CE, depending on age when reaching that job, could work at it for many years. With very few exceptions, a professional footballer's career will be over in their early 30s. And once they're retired, many will have a lifetime of aches and pains as a result.
  4. Daisy, did it take you long to work out how to use upper case on your device?
  5. "...an immersive and interactive experience for all...". Sounds like what farmers do to sheep when they drench and neuter them.
  6. Indeed. I fully expect that part of any major sponsorship package is access to the membership database. Whether it's email addresses or residential addresses, sponsors would see great value in direct marketing to members.
  7. The AFL was full of footballers called "Luke" about 18-20 years after the release of the original Star Wars movie (Luke Darcy, Luke Power, etc). We've now gone from players named after Disney characters to a whole stadium.
  8. Just hope the caller wasn't referring to Max and Mitch King.
  9. You can't say that. It's sacrilegious. Everyone knows it was the Norm Smith Curse.
  10. Seriously? Like he had a choice of movie studios or franchises to choose from? How, exactly, do you think these deals get done?
  11. I like the way you've covered up the real reason for crying into their porridge by claiming it's a dental issue when everyone knows the real reason is their incarceration in prison.
  12. And Andrew Demetriou
  13. I'm not sure if he had any sons, but Robert Flower combined with the zero games played by any sons he may have had was still a better combination than most of the father/son combinations we've had to date.
  14. I can't imagine the match committee thinks about playing indigenous players just because its indigenous round. What's next? Picking monarchists to play on Queens Birthday?
  15. Your post is missing the word "out" from your last sentence.
  16. In my opinion, Stretch needs to be bigger. I realise he can't make himself taller, but he needs to bulk up to stop being pushed off the ball so easily. Hunt needs to improve his disposal. Bigly.
  17. And this is our next big challenge. Holding our form. It's not so much about winning (admittedly, that's a nice outcome), but consistently playing the football we are capable of. We need to show that we no longer have those runs of goals against us or quarters where we seem to switch off. Then we'll be taken as a serious contender. And if we do that this week, we should win. But will we?
  18. You said that you would put a player who is surplus to requirements on the list if they came cheaply. I just think that statement is internally contradictory. If they're surplus to requirements you are wasting the limited number of slots allowable on a list for a player who, by your own definition, shouldn't be on the list. I'd rather take an unknown in the draft and see if they develop into someone who is useful.
  19. My centreline would have to be: Flower Power Love
  20. So you're saying Harmes returned the favour and gave Lamb some curry? We're definitely into Masterchef season now.
  21. I think we have shown over the last few years that we know how to manage contract negotiations very well. If we were being managed like Carlton over the last decade, I'd be much more concerned. Which makes me think...if we were Carlton, what would happen? I suspect we would trade Tom McDonald to the Gold Coast for their first round draft pick which is on-traded to GWS for 6 GWS fringe players to be added to our list. And if we were Collingwood, we would be prepared to lose Tom McDonald in order to keep the dollars that he should earn in the pool just to make sure "favourite son" Weideman can be retained. If we were St Kilda, we would look at trading Tom McDonald for three players who between them each have one or more recurrent, career-threatening injuries, off-field behavioural problems and are already known to be homesick for WA. And if we were Fremantle, we'd be trading Tom McDonald to free up cash to pay secret payments to hush something up.
  22. Nice work. I'm not going to prepare a full team, but I know that my half-back line is going to be Christian Battle Lyon.
  23. I think you answered your own question in the first half of your sentence. Even if a player is "going cheap" they still take a spot on the list and consume some salary cap.
  24. Sounds like a benign medical condition.
  25. I understand your point. Nevertheless, even though it might be played by the teams, they play for us. If there were no supporters there would be no competition. It follows that the games should be played in front of as many people as possible. It's also why the AFL needs to balance the cash it gets from TV rights from the exposure provided on free to air TV. The more games which are played on pay TV, the fewer people there will be watching. And that's not in the longterm interests of the game. I just hope the way they calculate value from TV rights takes into consideration not just cash paid, but numbers of potential viewers able to see the AFL product.
