Jack was "dropped" twice in 2015 at a time when we had plenty of injured players. With another influx of hard footballing talent and continued development Jacks days in the 1st are numbered unless he finds another level of intensity and hardness. He's now a matured player and shouldn't run out of steam for 1/2 a season. What happens if we make finals... "sorry Jack's ruled himself out cause he's a wee bit tired and wants to do the team thing!"? Trade him, give him another year, sad thing is, i'm caring less and less as the new blood takes over.

The challenge I have in keeping the faith in Jack Watts is how easily Brayshaw, Hogan and Vandenburg sailed past him in terms of intent and hardness and outcome on the footy field. He's become a luxury we don't need to afford.

The Rising Star Thread - Congratulations Jesse Hogan!
PaulRB replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think I can be overlooked how well the MFC has developed Jesse via the VFL in 2013 and then rehabilitated Jesse in 2014 after his back issues. Well done to all the crew at the club who've go this colt firing! And well done Jesse!- 610 replies

Not to sure what to make of Dom's year, and he kind of disappeared with a ??? injury... Thoughts?

Agree OD, if Hogan leaves after two flags, he'll have my begrudging blessing...

Swans finals campaign is looking a little ragged just now...

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
PaulRB replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree, we should rise quickly next year for the following reasons... We have at least three to five "top 22 players" to return from injury next year - Petracca, Kent, Frost, Trenners, Vanders... We seem to have finally got our development right with plenty of upside in our young guns - Brayshaw, Viney, Stretch, Hogan, Harmes, OMac, etc... We seem to be nailing three to five new recruits or trades each year - (this year Garlett, Vandenburg, Brayshaw, etc...) So we're looking at improving by 6 to 10 quality players in 2016 plus the natural maturing of the young talent on the list. Plus it will be Roos last year! It will be a cracker! Seriously. -
"Hawthorn, Melbourne and Brisbane have said they are not in the hunt." Smoke and mirrors for the next two months...

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
PaulRB replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Given the injuries we sustained that resulted in us fielding sub-par players for slabs of the year I'd count 2015 as a big enough step up from 2014. Injured players Petracca, Trengove, Kent, Frost, Dawes, Etc... -
A silky smooth 22 yr old forward mid who kicked 6 goals vs Cats... big step up on M Jones, Bail, etc... Oppositions would freak at the prospect of forward line containing Hogan, Garlett, Bennell and Petracca in 2016. Looks to be a buyers market, do it!

Training - Friday, 28th August, 2015: Domain Stadium
PaulRB replied to leucopogon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sounds like they're drilling for Sunday then, 20 attackers Vs 10 defenders... The dockers don't stand a chance! -
This positive stuff is hilarious... After another long year.

Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
PaulRB replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
If people had said after two years of Roos tenure we'd have knocked off Collingwood and Geelong in the season and moved ahead of Carlton and the Dons in terms of premiership windows doubled our wins (almost every year) stabalised the clubs losses and introduced and properly developed genuine new talent and set up a development environment such thats it's as good as any in the AFL etc... then they'd have been right about what he's done. I think 2016 could be a "Cinderella Story" but am keeping those thoughts on the down low... -
Am in Auckland for work and managed to totally miss the game. As a result I'm feeling quite good at the moment. Who won?

The club should look to the classics - https://youtu.be/JFvujknrBuE

If Jamar could replace Dawes as a solid lead up forward, he'd fill the role as back up ruck well, but yet to see Mark be able to play that role...

Stuie, i know you don't mean to but you crack me up. Something about all this reminded me of this - https://youtu.be/2K8_jgiNqUc

I'll buy the whole club a round of drinks when they deliver our first flag in over 50 years... My annual membership and weekly attendance should do the rest. I don't believe rewarding mediocrity breeds success.

FFS Stuie, the boys have served up so much crapola over the past decade, they should be sending us money for a while yet! As they say "one swallow does not make a spring". Love the tough stuff, but a "fighting fund"! Bring the same intensity week in and week out is actually the bare necessity of earning their huge salaries.
