  1. No Oscar no Carlton.
  2. At full strength I’d say 17 wins very possible, so the next month until we are has become crucial. The fact this group has matured to know every game counts (as well as percentage) plus our depth meaning there will likely be competition for spots all year bodes well. Once (and if) we can get our best 22 all fit and firing for a month or two we are well capable of beating anyone.
  3. I’m a fan of aggressive play, body work, etc in the contest to win the ball. However, if they breach the rules of this contest (ie hit them high) and hurt the player in the process, they’ve breached their duty of care and should be suspended. In addition, I Totally disagree that collecting players after they’ve cleared the ball is ok, and if the players been hurt (especially concussed) under this scenario, the AFL should throw the book at the offending player. I.e. Dangerfield.
  4. Huh? please explain..?
  5. The other thing about this action by Dangerfield is that it was clearly “retributional” in that the ball and contest for the ball had left the area, and Dangerfield’s action was about intimidation and inflicting injury, NOT on competing for the ball. A low blow, with the same malice, intent and effect as a king hit behind play. Disguised as a last second boo boo... He’s a thug, and weasel.
  6. Also, re goal kicking accuracy, it was evident that fatigue was hitting most players late in quarters and last 10 min of each half. Nothing like real game pressure to push the players (who've not played 20 min quarters for over a year) into muscle burn while trying to settle for a shot on goal. Also, it seemed to happen across the competition to greater or less degrees... Hopefully, our goal kicking will improve as we acclimatise to the longer format and players "harden" during the season. Oh, and on Jackson, will be a gun as he matures and realises his evident talents, but will take another year or two to do so...
  7. Let’s not get too carried away after 1 round of footy vs a very depleted Freo forward line. May (and Lever) played well, but aside from when May was on Fyfe he was on very average players.
  8. He left the ground bracing to bump the Crows kid, and left him concussed with a broken nose. As clear cut case for suspension as the AFL likely to get this year, need to set an example.
  9. We’re also over 6 months out from the gF..$
  10. At game and the AFL played our unconscious anthem... Bring on 2021, the year of the Demons! ??
  11. Good blend of experience and youth. I was thinking about our end-to-end lines i.e from FB to FF, as it’s our ability to connect (and defend) along these lines that we’ve been working on, and if we can get right will see us rise. Expect Maxy will play forward a lot, roaming up when balls in our defence, with our smalls setting up around and working off him, and the contested space around him. Feeling confident that we’ve got the approach, age, speed/endurance, and motivation to win today, and as players return evolve into a powerful unit as the season progresses. as I was called recently in regard to my MFC thoughts I’m “bravely optimistic “. Dees by 5+ goals Go Denons!

  13. Richmond are ripe for the plucking... beating up on a young and weak Carlton outfit, Big deal. They’re gonna go down this year, I just hope it’s us riding them into the wall. ?
  14. Give me three years Clint, should be clear by then...
  15. Rd 1 - game 1 - “Casbolt was mounted!!” (Free to air, sometime in second half). Gold.
  16. We used to sing a fun and funny song about Oscar McDonald... was a shame when he left. mind you, Farmer, we’re a better team for it, despite us all loving Oscars cute puppy dog looks. Went to the tune of “Frosty the snowman... he’s a ...”, had to adapt after Frosty was moved on.
  17. “Casbolt was mounted!!”
  18. That was funny!
  19. 5 touches and a goal... can play back, can play forward...
  20. Oscar kicked a goal!
  21. Oscar has been activated!!! ?
  22. Respectfully disagree 58er. its fanciful and unfair to both Bowey and Jetta to think an 18 year old new recruit with minimal footy last year could come in and out perform a 10+ year veteran who's craft is sublime even as his physical prime passes. I'd suggest at least 4-22 weeks learning, building skills and body in the VFL would be what Bowey needs in order to eclipse Jetta. can you imagine Bowey one-on-one versus say Green (GWS) or Cameron (Lions) ..? He'd get murdered. Jetta can hold his own, even if they'd take him on the burst. The kids will come in when they force it based on accumulated form in the VFL, not because they're new and shiny, and like all new things offer the promise of future glory. Jetta has a well earnt reputation as a solid and experienced backman, and while his time will come, it should only come when others exceed him in realty, not imaginations.
  23. Bowery may take Jets place in the team in a year or two, when’s learnt half of what Jetta has forgotten about defending. Jetta may have lost some pace, but his contested defensive work, poise and experience still make him the best option for deep back, and Hunt can be the last back when we’re stretched forward...
