  1. Only makes sense in the context of enabling us to do a deal for a genuine game changing A-grader... If so, I'm truly sorry for Trenners, he's done his best and been a loyal member of the club. Some decisions are hard to make, but need to be made none the less.
  2. Maybe if we land a big fish or two, Clark might change his mind again... Would we have him back? I would.
  3. Lots of posturing and the deals that are being conducted in public, stalling (Beams, Ryder)... Despite hearing nothing, I think we're still in the box seat to do a big Tyson deal for pick 3 + ... to GWS (assuming the Saints want a tall), or to AFC for Dangerfield, or to ??? for experienced mid. Once the reactive trades (initiated by players wanting to leave) is deal with we will still hold a couple of aces and have shown an appetite to deal.
  4. I think the whole mess is exploding, AFL prepping for ASADAs big hit on monday, when more players join Paddy's rush for the door... If the AFL approve this cancel contract and claim compo scheme, whats to stop them using it to milk system for every disenchanted player wanting to leave a club that injected them with banned substances? and for the EFC to do very well out of it...? A slippery slope.
  5. Maybe the AFL know whats coming Essendon's way on monday and are trying to help them field a team in 2015...
  6. I read that totally the opposite to what you meant. doh! I agree.
  7. Judd's achievements prior to being traded in 2007 Team AFL Premiership (West Coast): 2006 (C) McClelland Trophy (West Coast): 2006 (C) Individual Brownlow Medal: 2004, Leigh Matthews Trophy (AFLPA MVP Award): 2006, All-Australian: 2004, 2006 Norm Smith Medal: 2005 Australian Representative Honours in International Rules Football: 2002 AFLPA Best First Year Player Award: 2002 West Coast West Coast Club Champion Award: 2004, 2006 Ross Glendinning Medal: 2005 (Round 3), 2005 (Round 20), 2006 (Round 6) West Coast Eagles Captain: 2006-2007 Other achievements Goal of the Year: 2005 Shiel's achievements prior to now
  8. How is Shiel in same category as Judd? Judd had just captained WC to a flag and won a Brownlow prior to being traded to the Blues, Shiel has done SFA. Even Dangerfield is not in Judd's league (when he was traded). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Judd
  9. Given ASADA will deliver on monday "This second batch of show-cause notices will carry with them the evidence ASADA has collected against the players which suggest they may have been party to a possible breach of ASADA rules." And assuming the evidence concludes the EFC doped their players without consent, which players would we target to trade for pick 3? As the greatest fire sale in the history of footy may be on...
  10. He's met with Senior players, has contract lined up... and on MFC website (http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-10-07/garlett-asks-for-trade-to-melbourne). Looks like we're keen.
  11. MFCs new strategy for winning a flag... in Korean.
  12. You'd have to imagine one of the first jobs for the new Adelaide coach would be to speak to Dangerfield and assess if he is a flight risk, and if so, decide on the best strategy to take from there...
  13. Garlett hits me as the ideal player for the rope-a-dope style of footy, where you flood your back line to soak up and stop the opposition then want to quickly counter attack while your forward line is open.
  14. Both Lumumba and Garlett have shown they are easily capable of being in our top ten players. Pushing out a couple of marginal 22 players, which is no bad thing.
  15. I like that with both Garlett and Lumumba they are players who know they can match it with the best, but have been ejected by their clubs and come to us with something to prove. Redemption and pride can be a powerful tonic. Certainly what the MFC needs in 2015.
  16. Additions to our 22 for 2015 (injuries permitting) thus far: Hogan Trengove Lumumba Garlett Pick 2 (Petracca or Brayshaw) Pick 3 (trade or draft) Losses Frawley Clark
  17. Perhaps this year is as much about buttering Dangerfiled up for next as it is having a real crack at him. If we can nab Brayshaw and Petracca and move to just outside the 8 in 2015, with a bundle of cash we become far more alluring to Dangerfield and get him for NOTHING draft wise. Next year Danger is a RFA, and AFC can match an offer to keep him. The top 4 will be limited in how much they have to spend, and are unlikely to offer so much more that the AFC couldn't match it. Whereas the MFC could (and would have to) blow all others (Including the AFC) away in order to get him... We may be in the box seat next year as well. Dangerfield may face another 2 years at AFC before being able to sail to a top 4 club.
  18. If he helps us tear the Pies a new one on Queens Birthday he can celebrate with a highland jig in his nude suit while espousing the virtues of abstinence for all I care. Rumour has it the MFC is becoming a football club again.
  19. Agree, he has all the attributes, but needs to be stronger, and harder. Telegraphs his long handballs as he has to wind up to hit it that far... Reckon he's an ideal player to develop with the intention for him to be blooded 2016.
  20. Billy the Kid is in the house! I love the tradition of the father son selections, one of the few things running against the corporate entitlement that's overrun the AFL these past couple of decades... Welcome Billy!
  21. Saints would be foolish to assume what the MFC will do with picks 2 or 3 given the likelihood of us trading one or both of them, if the right deal comes along...
