On the Morning Glory, they said that Newton would miss for Sandy if he is suspended for the AFL
-
I remember they changed the rule after Michael Long's very cowardly bump on Troy Simmonds in the 2000 GF. He served out all (if not most) of his suspension in the pre-season cup. Newton will miss the first 08 Home and Away game, but will be eligible for Sandy finals and pre-season cup

Chris Connelly

I can understand Chocko not giving two hoots about the MFC - but surely out of respect for his long-term colleague, he could have kept his mouth shut for a couple of days

Would never happen in a million years But I would still love to see it Riley has already said he wants to stay on the with the Dees in 2008 asn an A/C. Don't let Dean coach the game, but have him in the box.
-
Agreed. Welcome to the MFC Dean. Hope we have a long and prosporous relationship
-
The more i read about Bailey, the more i like. Would have liked to get Sheedy, but would still be very happy if we got the Bailey / Connelly combination

I'm firmly in the "I want us to lose round 22, so we get the better draft picks" camp BUT If the Tigers end up beating St.Kilda, i will be praying for us to win. REASON The idea of the MFC finishing the season on the bottom of the ladder makes me feel sick. I've got too much pride in my club, to see us written down in the history books as the worst team of 2007. Some things are worth getting a draft pick for. Losing a meaningless game, yes. Getting the wooden spoon, no.

Does anyone else have any concerns about the panel selecting the coach. Gardner, Harris, Lyon and Burke as i understand it. Shouldn't we have gotten someone with AFL coaching experience to help out .... eg. Parkin, Walls, Alves
-
I heard it was against a non-final team as well. Think it was mentioned on footy classified last night

Ox asked if Neita remembered the Melbourne v Sydney game in NZ (Neale's first game in charge) Neita joked that he couldn't remember it Apparently Neita and Farmer copped the spray of a lifetime from Neale. He was screaming so much, that someone else had to Was really good to hear the banter between the Ox and Neita. Can't remember the last time i heard Schwarz speak warmly about his club
-
This would be the site http://www.magpies.net/nick/bb/viewtopic.php?t=38220 but i'd suggest not putting the banner up, since they will still probably make the finals, even if we beat em lets put all effort into congratulating Neita instead
-
Its because they keep the same options from when the market was opened (before Sheedy got sacked). All the names listed were the most likely at the time. Any other person includes Sheedy, which is why its the shortest odds

I think Demon Disciple meant that we've got no chance of getting Viney as an assitant coach in any shape while he is contracted to HFC. Different story if we appoint him senior coach
-
On the other hand, if the MFC and the AFL work on 150 year events together, it can create more exposure for the club. No doubt they will be making a big fuss over the Melbourne v Geelong game for example I don’t see it as a bad thing

"Your heart's where you're working. All my kids have grown up red and blue," Daniher said. "My daughter's 21 so she was 11 when I first started at Melbourne. My son is 14 and he was four. "They know nothing but red and blue. pity father and son rule doesn't apply to coaches
-
I would have thought my disclaimer "no idea what he is like as a coach", would have made it clear i have no idea if he'll be a good coach or not was merely stating, if the board do happen to select him, i'd be estatic having him back at the club
-
No idea what he is like as a coach But absolutely loved him as a player Would be very happy if we chose him
-
If i recall correctly, one of the reasons Port got rid of him, was that he refused to take a contract heavily weighted on match payments. We took a gamble, and it didn't pay off. Under no circumstances should he be on our list next year. But denying a player his 200th, just because we're not happy with his output. Maybe we have a right to do that. I'd like to think as a club that we are better than that.
-
If Voss turned down the Carlton job, he won't want any senior coaching role. In my opinion its clearly the best option for a wannabe coach Hopefully we'll try and get him as an assistant, if he is half as good as everyone makes him out to be
-
Reported in the age Voss Rules out Blues Job

My only advice - is please think carefully before you gather 100 signatures, and force (if its allowed in our constitution) an EGM It costs the club a lot of money, and creates a great deal of negative publicity (which may put off a potential coach) It may help - if you aired some of your concerns on here. I'm not thrilled with how the club is performing at the moment, but not too sure its really the boards fault
-
Jiska - i agree with you that all those players have some redeemable qualities. If we had a list of 50, they'd all stay. But the fact remains, in order to improve our list, we need to delist a minimum of 5 players. If you kept those 4, who would you delist instead?

Respect for Wardy - been a good servant for the club - but i'm sick of him consistantly kicking the ball down the opposition's throat Hope i get to cheer him on at this years grand final, as he drives around in the motorcade pre-match

Matthew, I mean Michael, got off the striking charge
