  1. An enjoyable day down at the park. A very good win by the girls. I thaught we shut them down with good contested footy and our backline was magnificent in the 3rd quarter. Downie and Birch played fantastic games. Birch was an important pick up. Daisy was quiet today but was there to direct traffic from the backline. I thaught it was a good coaching move. Our midfield lost it at centre bounces and thankfully there was only a few of them. Howeveer around the ground they were very good and applied a lot of pressure. Paxman played a great game and was supported well by O'Dea with Hore and Scott playing well. Although a low score I thauught our forward line looked dangerous with Zanker and Cunningham. Zanker was fantastic in the last quarter and presented well all day.
  2. Flower.
  3. Be interesting to see if Daisy starts on the HBF. Bacline looks a little weak so may be there for experience. Forward line looks pretty good. Big fan of Cunninham. I suppose Cordner in ruck doesn't make a lot of sense but O'Dea and paxman speak for themselves.
  4. Eddie and the filth can go back to vic park.

They will keep playing Carlton and Richmond for the first game, They get over 80,000 between a top and bottom side so it will be up in the mid nineties when they are both up there. The 2 sides hate each other which does give an extra spectacle to the game. Never let Melbourne play in the opening game.
  6. Jonesy deserves this.
  7. Yep. Next year if he gets paid oout by Freo. Get him right in the head and he is a great player.
  8. This is dreadful. Gawns influence on the side can't be underestimated.
  9. I agree with what he says about Tomlinson on the wing. Could he be a CHB option ? Salem might be a bit slow but his disposals are certainly near the best at melbourne.
  10. Agree. Hope there isn't anything wrong.
  11. I think Sparrow is next in line at depth.

I don't have a high opinion of him at all. Inconsistant is putting it mildly. He is only good as a leading forward and given our kicking skills that doesn't hold out much hope. Just hope the weid can pull his finger out.
  13. The weid winning the Coleman and the filth winning the spoon.

Pickett a long term option but maybe this is a last year hurrah for Jones.

This is true. I thaught "jackie boy" was deluded to be honest.

Northey era for mine. Daniher had more talented sides but they were inconsistant. Northey was able to get more out of his.1990 was our best year for a flag but we could not play waverly well at all which I believe cost us.
  19. We will miss Smith. A very reliable player.

Tilbrook and Bennet were the 2 longest at Melbourne I have seen. When it comes to being completly inconsistent then Andrew Obst would win the pill. All over the joint.
  21. I couldn't believe Johnstone was not playing vfl especially in 78. I knew of the carlton bit and was devastated it happened but the question is would he have been as good a player at Melbourne as at carlton. I know it sounds dreadful but one has to ask the question.
  22. Appleton does ring a bell but I am sure it was Thornton. You are right about the vfa being great. Used to watch the second division finals at toorak park as you were sure to see a decent punch on.
  23. I think the fitzroy player was Ross Thornton.
  24. Was always a mad Prahran supporter going back from mid seventies onwards. Only premiership I seen live was the 78 win over Preston. Plenty of good afl players in that side such as Johnstone, Kekovich and a fitzroy player whose name escapes me at the momment. I can't really remember a melbourne connection though although I do remember Yeats and Giles. Others mentioned were probably before my time.
