  1. In October 1994, Beitzel was sentenced to 18 months jail, with a minimum of eight months to be served, after pleading guilty to obtaining financial advantage by deception over matters related to his work for a lottery organisation.[2] He served his sentence initially at Pentridge Prison and then at the open, minimum-security Morwell River Prison Farm. Beitzel strenuously denied that he had ever intentionally committed a crime.
  2. Last night's match was easily his best match for MFC.
  3. Agree with most posters. He has really underperformed. Hopefully he puts in a good one today.
  4. They do things differently there.... Also Alan Bates
  5. "The past is a foreign country". L.P. Hartley, The Go Between.
  6. Probably worth retaining on the rookie list once his contract has ended ....
  7. I just put $10 on Clayton for the Brownlow @ $67
  8. Don't you mean lucked IN?
  9. For the purposes of certainty (putting on my lawyer hat), Oliver (the player) reminds me of Voss (the player).
  10. He reminds me of Michael Voss
  11. As much as I hold Hird in low regard, I wish him all the best for a full recovery.
  12. Worst movie I can remember is Crocodile Dundee 2, followed by any other movie involving Paul Hogan, followed by Red Dog.
  13. Is Hibberd a better player than Melksham? Are they similar types? Did MFC need both? Are there any other questions I should be asking? If yes, what are they?
  14. I went to a ladyboy show in Thailand a couple of years ago. (With my then girlfriend.) It wasn't at all like a strip show. Pretty much just miming and dancing. I'd imagine the Melbourne show would be fairly similar. I can't imagine it attracting much of an audience here. It's pretty much just a tourist thing to do while overseas.
  15. I met Martin Flanagan (at the footy) through a mutual friend. He's a top bloke!! He even bought me a beer. Love his writing too.
  16. "The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there." The opening line from The Go Between, L.P. Hartley. I never miss an opportunity to trot that one out. And clearly readers of a football supporters' forum will be very receptive to that information.
  17. The Club is pathetic. I have valuable information regarding Adam Tomlinson. I emailed the football club suggesting that someone from the football department call me. Still waiting. Hopeless.
  18. He's a great young player. Potentially an A grader, or at least B+. Just needs to improve his kicking on his right foot. (I presume he's working on that.) Then he would be complete!!
  19. McDonald's OK, but he should recognise his own limitations, and play within them.
  20. I was at that match. Remembering Gehrig getting caught by Carroll, and stuffing himself in the process still brings a smile to my face.
  21. At Least I Saw a Flag replied to olisik's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Now come on kids. Settle down, or you'll both have to go to your rooms!!
  22. As for Australian films, I agree that Wake in Fright was a ripper. Lantana was great, and I didnt mind some of those quirky films in the early 80s like The Big Steal and Death in Brunswick.
  23. I am ridiculously fussy when it comes to films. One of the worst films I have ever seen is Red Dog. Corny, dreadfully overacted. If I hadnt taken my daughter to that film, I would have walked out half way. I re-watched The Elephant Man the other day. Now there's a film! John Hurt's performance was brilliant. He was beaten to the Best Actor Oscar by De Niro in Raging Bull. The film was beautifully made and acted. Another one i really liked was American Beauty. As for comedies, my favourites are Napoleon Dynamite and Groundhog Day.
  24. I've been watching Real Humans on SBS, Saturday nights. Really good.
