  1. You may not agree with the outcome - but the wider community spoke in force on exactly this issue when the current Government shelved its plans to amend legislation around this very subject. It is not a slippery slope - its something you agree with or you don't.
  2. vilification is vilification (definition - abusively disparaging speech or writing.). As suggested before - mature, reasoned and respectful debate surrounding religion/race whether it be a person or an organisation is not the same as vilification.
  3. 4100 submissions would tell me otherwise http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/tony-abbott-dumps-controversial-changes-to-18c-racial-discrimination-laws-20140805-3d65l.html
  4. Hopefully mature community standards dictate what is and isn't accepted. I don't want to turn this political but amendments to "18c" were shelved because the community spoke. George Brandis was wrong - " people don't have the right to be bigots" edit- I wish we lived in a country where we don't have to legislate on these types of things - sadly this is not the case
  5. Yes he is entirely wrong. Lets us not confuse rationally debating the actions of any race and religion ( taking into account that generalising in itself is dangerous) and racial/religious vilification.
  6. I dislike the words " political correctness" - too many use these words to mask attitudes and values which I hope most decent people find abhorrent
  7. Hallelujah I am bemused when supporters trash assistant coaches. Supporters simply don't know - head coaches are the only ones who can make that call. Rawlings for exampled is being hailed as a great assistant this year - but how about last year ? I basically believe if the head coach keeps renewing the contract of an assistant then he must be ok - if he gives him the flick, then maybe not so. Some assistants have great reputations - they come with years of experience and ultra impressive resumes - George Stone - but even that is heresay from others - players and coaches.
  8. And the hits just keep coming...
  9. Just a question...can you point me to the details of exactly what he was being paid ? I am interested that you know that the university course that apparently was paid for was over and above his contracted salary ? You are aware that many many large salary packages are not simply cash but can also include cars, school fees, housing repayments etc. Looks like there might be a lot to be unhappy about with MC. but I'm not sure if paid uni course is one of them. Any which way you look at it, Mitch hasn't been a good investment.
  10. Rochford Devenish-Meares ( played for the Hawks in 1968 - 8 games. I really just wanted to say the name Rochford Devenish-Meares)
  11. I understand keeping the options open but would you sign a contract like that ???
  12. PJ was very straightforward regarding this - we will either go with a succession plan or we won't. I hope this clears up any confusion.
  13. Neither of them hold a candle to Amity Affliction.
  14. There has been seriously overlooked.
  15. He just is a "heart and soul" player. Gotta love him.
  16. manager waves around big bucks - "come over to the dark side Luke"
  17. I understand this is speculation but it does resonate with me. I will add to the speculation and suggest he has a manager whispering in his ear "why be a rookie when I can get you $$'s"
  18. Do you find it amusing ( I do ) that posters take exception with stands the Lumumba has taken yet find no problem in saying things like "Fevola is just being a bloke and if he adds to our list I would grab him in heartbeat". Roos said last night that it was nonsense to suggest that one mardigras line has caused this.
  19. It's the same old suspects on here questioning his health. I won't question whether he was ill or not. You can certainly see that those closer to him like Roos are taking his mental health issues seriously. I do again quote Dermie " Depression doesn't exonerate you from doing right or wrong".
  20. What's with his manager ? Understand where the managers loyalty lies - he would be advising his client that he can play and get paid well. Managers will always do whats in the best interest of the both the player AND the manager.
  21. His manager is a "manager". Name me a manager that is not a [censored]. Managers are heavily conflicted - they need to look after players interest at the same time maximising their "cut". The one certainty is whilst we can debate whether a player has loyalty to a club, I don't think there is much doubt that a manager has loyalty to no one except his player, himself and most importantly his bank account.
  22. I have never seen Ox and GNF in the same room at the same time...just sayin...
  23. He virtually read out GNF's post....wait a second....... ( Hi Ox- love your work....)
  24. Dermott Brereton - "Having depression doesn't exonerate you from doing right or wrong"
  25. I blame Jack Watts
