Jonathan Brown to take Sam Weideman under his wing
If you’ve got 5 mins of holiday time this is well worth a watch. Brown is one of my all time favourite non Melbourne players

Brilliant to get Jason on the podcast boys. Really looking forward to hearing it. Thanks

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAKE BOWEY
With the amount of footy they have missed I’d be surprised if we see any of the new draftees till 2022

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - FRASER ROSMAN
Shades of Earl Spalding. Both tall utilities and both went to (a) Wesley. Fraser the Duke Rosman

2020 Contracts and List Details
@Lucifer's Hero Do draftees get a 2 or 3 year first contract? Thinking it maybe 2 which would have Bowey, Laurie and Rosman needing to re-sign at the end of ‘22?

Welcome to Demonland Bailey Laurie
Yes I know, I know but his highlights remind me of a young Brent Harvey

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAKE BOWEY
Someone should do a Internet age MFC whipping boy timeline. Think Simon Godfrey was first of the alumni

Club lists finalised with further signings
Was there a theory on here re KK Jaded that if he stayed on the list then he qualified for medical insurance? His signing has obviously been a complete bust for the Club. It would be great to get a statement from them as to where he is at but I’m not holding my breath. I don’t understand why the need for secrecy

Lewis Jetta delisted by the Eagles
Agree. A friend who is a huge WCE fan says he checked out after the ‘18 flag. Hasn’t been able to climb the mountain again and any club who picked him up would be just feathering his retirement

2020 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
And honestly that is just fine. It is such a lottery this year, particularly with the Victorian kids. Somewhere hidden in the rest of the bunch are the draft bolters who missed that last year of footy this year. The Clayton Oliver or Luke Jackson who were not close to a first round selection only reveal their true talent late. Our job is to identify those kids. I’m backing Taylor to nail at least one of the 3 picks

Liam Kolar
I am easily seduced when it comes to tall, fast and athletic players with heaps of upside. However after years of watching us butcher the ball all over the park the only question I want answered is ‘can the bloke kick?’

2020 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
That’s pretty wild. A 200cm bloke who looks like a natural left footer but can kick goals with his right from outside 50m

2020 AFL Mature age draft prospects
You are dreaming WJ. He would be worth at least a 1st rounder plus probably a 2nd

Farewell Braydon Preuss
31 for Preuss sounds completely fair to both sides to me but that probably means it’s overs

The Andrew Phillips Thread
Must admit I had no idea who Phillips was until I googled him. A 201cm Tasmanian who has played 46 games across 9 seasons, 2 states and 3 clubs (GWS, Carlton and Essendon). He is apparently happy to play a distant second fiddle to Gawn at his 4th club and good on him for it. Works for both parties. A journeyman’s journeyman

2021 Pre Season
I’m looking forward to the ‘21 season. We have bought in host of new talent whilst losing just one of our top 10 in last years B n F (Elise O’dea) We have a good range of talent across the ages; Zanker, Birch, Hanks and Heath are the up and comers who could all become ten year players whilst learning from our experienced leaders in Daisy, Karen Paxman and Shelly Scott. We have a top ruck in Pearce and some exciting talent in the Irish women, McEvoy and Goldrick, who will only get better with a season under their belts. The Club also seems to have identified this year’s uncompromised draft to load up in going for height and pace. Nice to see one of them (McNamara) making her mark already taking out the 2km over the perennial winner in Paxman (see article below) From afar we look to have some good depth. Give us a half decent run with injuries and I think we can give the competition a shake. Go Dees! https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/834138/mcnamara-shines-in-time-trial-as-unique-pre-season-begins

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Ballsy! Love it
-
Tom Phillips - Outside Skills and Speed
Problem with that Luci is that we are trying to get rid of TMac to clear cap space for Ben Brown. Collingwood, as we know, have even worse cap issues than us. PS. I’m all for getting Phillips though

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Yes I think Harrison could be our forgotten man. Will have had this year to grow into his 198cm frame. We know he has good hands and can kick and goes into next season as a 21y.o. Between Ben Brown (hopefully), Weid, Luke Jackson, Mitch Brown and Petty we should not short of quality tall forward options.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Im probably behind the times but do we definitely have Burgess for another year?

Jeff White Reflects on 2000
It’s a ripper interview and he seems like a great bloke. Let’s hope his son is good enough to play AFL and becomes a Demon.

Neville Jetta
A little part of me would die if Nev left for another club

Vale Jacinda Barclay...
To be honest I had not heard of Jacinda until now. What an extraordinary sporting career from an incredible all round talent. It is difficult to reconcile the outward sporting success with what who an obviously troubled soul. May she Rest In Peace

Welcome to the MFC – Isabella Simmons
I agree. The exponential growth of the women’s game has meant the a huge increase in the talent pool of girls coming through. Whilst Daisy was one of the best few players when the AFLW started in 2017 she would be well down the list these days. Like you though I can see a long future for her being the general of our back line. However things end up, I’ll been keenly observing the evolution of the game. I’m stoked our club was, again, a (the) foundation club
