  1. Never mind if nobody likes you, try googling your own name or writing next year to " Sam's Mailbag " !
  2. Trenners, of course, would do a quality job serving snags outside Bunnings on a saturday morning ! "Cringe-worthy" is too polite an expression for the rest !
  3. Uncomfortable with this post. Matt comes across as a genial, intelligent guy.Surely we can't expect an employee of the Club to be a probing Kerry O'Brien--type interviewer !
  4. Phew........that's a relief ! The topic had me expecting the revelation of a disgraceful Fev-like episode !
  5. I suppose the Pies did finish a bit stronger but the umpires didn't miss a thing their way in the last 5 minutes.....what happened to the old "put the whistle away" late in the last quarter of a tight final ? Bateman's repetitive errors made sure of it !
  6. Thanks b d , very much appreciated. He's a colourful part of our long history and always remembered B &F Night .
  7. I recently came across an upload on YouTube by a US aircraft enthusiast "Bomberguy" of a UK wartime newsreel with Bluey himself prominent. If you do a YT search on "NO 452 Australian Squadron", you will find it. Perhaps a more computer literate person could provide the link. Fascinating stuff !
  8. Spot on .........the dark pink is the embarassment NOT the collar !
  9. Had my doubts 'til i saw his presser (or interview ? )on 10 . Came across as a bit of a dour bastard.......might be just what we need !
  10. One of the oddest posts in the history of Demonland ! It is inapproptriate on a site for Dee fanatics to empathise with Collingwood !
  11. The lad couldn't wait to re-sign and his "loyalty" comments were touching. He has joined Beamer and Good-Times ( both fanatical life-long Demons )as my current emotional favourites. Memories of Robbie Flower sticking with us through the hard times unlike a couple of former players( now commentators ) who come to mind !
  12. Who cares what Parkin thinks ! Didn't he famously advise Worsfold post 2010 season to give it away as their list wasn't good enough !
  13. To think of all those Information Nights i attended, dwelling on every word uttered by Craig Cameron et al and it wasn't until G.C.& G.W.S. were recruiting the pick of the kids that other clubs concluded it might just be possible that some players are late maturers. A 22 year-old Podsi in the goal square ?........ a ridiculous notion !
  14. old dee is clearly favourite for the DEMONLAND NICE GUY AWARD........even has a good word for things Collingwood ! Personally , i'm happily bitter and twisted !
  15. Until 1980 we were a sporting division of the MCC. I remember when 10 of our 12 committee members were elected by any MCC member who cared to vote ! Chairmen ( now called Presidents ) had to be approved by the MCC. Apalling management in particularly the 2 decades following the 1964 flag lost us a generation of potential new supporters. Our current membership of 37k , as an actual proportion of our total following, is actually remarkably high.......probably the best in the comp !!
  16. PROF's score of 4/10 for 1976 is ridiculous ! That year, Dee supporters outnumbered the "faithful" in the Vic Park outer for the last game as the Pies collected their one and only Wooden Spoon. We won, of course, and only needed top team Carlton to defeat our only rival for the 5th spot in the then Final Five, Footscray. It was a draw and we missed by 2 points in what would have been our first finals appearance since our last premiership year !
  17. 27 year-old journeymen who are deemed worthy of only a handful of games in a under performing season, do not warrant a 3 page response re their future prospects !
  18. This topic has been done-to-death over the years with the resulting achievement of about half of our MCC supporters buying a one-form-or-another membership. With the emotion of the Jimma presidency and our promising (?) future , that's about the max we could expect. To those less than hardy souls wavering about renewing , let me give them at least a good mercenary reason to do so. You can get with your membership "The Big Paper" home delivered each day for $99 p.a. (about .30c a copy). I was invoiced this month for $416 (40% off) until i rang with my MFC card number to get the $99 deal. YOU ARE SAVING HUNDREDS WITH THIS OFFER !
  19. Mature age Carlton recruit Nick Duigan was hugely impressive on ONE WEEK AT A TIME. The Masters graduate raved about the ability of his coach at Norwood, Nathan Bassett, both as tactitian and motivator. He apparently took the club from the the Wooden Spoon to the Grand Final in his first year! Maybe he's a left field choice but i hope he is considered. He was critical of us when he left to join Adelaide so i guess we may need to approach HIM to apply.
  20. Just heard, as expected, Level 3 will be closed at Etihad on Sunday . Level 2 in my opinion has some of the best viewing seats in the AFL, right up there with the SCG and the two MCC mezzanine levels. So come on all you wavering members, turn up and enjoy the $50 view. To those reserved seat holders complainig about being stuck behind the goals......JUST MOVE, it wont be policed !
  21. Dont tell me we have to put up with "off to the snow" references on our OWN fan site. I've been an MFC member for 38 years and an MCC member for 44 and couldnt name an aquaintance who is partial to such activities let alone drives a Range Rover. The Couldabeens have a lot to answer for !
  22. In the early years of the stadium we had clearly the second best record there behind original home tenant,Essendon. Top sides dont have hoodoos ! Pluses for me include its proximity to Southern Cross, closeness of most seats to the playing surface and for most Away games only $20 un-ticketed General Admission. If you make the effort to attend this Sunday you will at least be guaranteed a prime close-to-the- front balcony seat !
  23. Interesting story by Ashley Browne on the current official MFC website concerning AJ's amazing 1991( debut year ) effort of reaching 50 goals in only 9 games . He states "No player had made it to 50 career goals so quickly". I hope this is correct but i seem to remember reading that he SHARES this record with John Coleman. Anybody have the definitive answer?
  24. One of my favourite topics ! Northey-trained sides always seemed to put in......even the ordinary ones.
  25. What about The-Jack-In-Waiting the wunderkind of the Viney variety ? Reports are that he is as fearless as Alex Rance and the Sellwoods put together! Ok, tell me i'm dreamin' but then wasn't Carey appointed captain at North in his early twenties ?
