Yeah an in play decision review seemed pretty strange, particularly as the umpires rarely call touched off the boot unless they're sure. The point of defenders potentially acting differently is another issue as well. The AFL review system would probably be one of the most flawed in world sport.
-
Interesting thing on both those points. Point one, the numbers are surprising as I can definitely recall almost all those players having crucial involvements during the match. I get the feeling Hunt will be an unlucky one to go, Frost I can see being the other. Dont agree on the Dunn point. While I wouldn't have him as outstanding I feel he brings a stability to the backline that looked lost without him. Did do one poor piece of play from memory that was very lucky to not end up in a goal against.

Where's this word come from? What has he actually injured?
-
I was massively unimpressed with Lumumba after the Essendon game, but he has been very important to our run out of defence the last 2 weeks.
-
AVB wasn't setting the world on fire when he was in, for me he comes back through Casey. Two unforced changes to a winning team is all I'd want to do. Vince and Garlett come in, but I'm buggered if I know who comes out. Hunt and Wagner have done nothing to be dropped, Frost and Pedo did well, Bugg (another that could've been in the firing line) was fantastic. Brayshaw's numbers are down but it's funny I actually thought he was important. Did some very crucial things, so too with Oliver's numbers but when he was involved in made a difference. I don't envy the selection committee deciding who comes out!
-
He also said towards the end that he and others are still pretty close with him. I think his point is you can be mates outside but when you step out on the field you're the enemy.

I liken our situation with Petracca to kids being given a brand new game console for Christmas, them knowing it but only being able to play it on Christmas day. They all know what it is, they all know how good it is, and they know how much enjoyment it'll give the kids but they're still going to make them wait!

I don't know if the early games/NAB Cup he was instructed to be more stay at home but now that he's getting more of the ball in the Half Forward line he's looking a lot better. He's clunking marks and kicking goals, what more could you want from a still developing forward!

Not just Pedo, the entire team!

I have a strong feeling we'll be this "second team" that's already been arranged. It makes sense given we've laid groundwork with China, we have China Southern as a sponsor, and we may well be looking at dropping/being dropped from NT. If we can play one in the Alice and the China game I'll be comfortable with that, as long as, and this is important, the AFL schedule the bye for both teams AFTER the China game. Logic would dictate it, so it probably won't happen.

Alright, that's it, never taking Misson at his word again. How does he go from "he'll play" last week, to being an unlikely starter this week? Makes the job harder with Vince out as well but every team has to deal with injury/suspension so it give someone else a chance. On the plus side Kent stepped up in the second half last week, hopefully he can continue that form.

After everything that has gone on with Dank it appears that he is doing everything he can to discredit the AFL and ASADA at every turn. Waiting until Bock is cleared AND THEN declaring to the world, not the investigators, that Bock is guilty and he had the proof smacks of someone who is purely looking for revenge on the competition and the investigators. This latest but with Melbourne again is him trying to destroy the fabric of the competition and Barrett is happy to begin patsy to see newspapers and make him seem like a "news breaking" journalist. If he had any credibility or integrity he would ignore all calls from Dank. But he's those are words he removed from his vocabulary a long time ago. And did we not keep records and produce all information regarding anything that we were involved with and ASADA were satisfied? Low hanging fruit, Barrett going after an easy target.

This looms as possibly our biggest match for the year, same for the pies. A loss to either team is disastrous, while a win gets the other back on track. Expect the Pies to come out absolutely firing in the first 10 minutes similar to the bombers, we wilted at this increased pressure last time but we have to match it and go beyond. Brayshaw was underdone v Bombers, he will be ready to go this week. Garlett was expected to get up for the Kanags game according to Misso, if he isn't right for this week I will never believe another word that comes out of his mouth. Harmes had a much improved performance on the weekend but still is not doing enough, and AVB missed a sitter and has had pretty low output for the first few rounds. These two I don't expect to be dropped but they are in the firing line once Petracca is good to go. We're going to need some big performances this week, we have to bring what we had from the start of the 2nd quarter to this game. No more honourable losses, no more yoyo performances, get the bloody job done.

He is almost no. 1 as fan favourite I reckon. Everybody is on Jesse but it's sort of expected, the respect for Jonesy is huge, and everyone is excited about Oliver. But big Max! There's something about him that everyone wants to get around. He's got the beard, he's a bit crazy, he's hard at the ball, and he's had his run of bad luck with injuries over the years (hopefully done and dusted). If I could get my number on my Dee's top changed it would definitely become 11. Jimmy would be proud.

Seeing the incident one week is fair. Stupid and unnecessary from Bernie, and it punishes his teammates with him being unavailable this week. On the positive Brayshaw will come in for him and Bernie can rest up ready to give Cotchin a bath.
-
I want to see him out there, I desperately do. But I feel it's going to be the Tigers for get to feel the full force of the Petraccattack. They are clearly working his minutes up and it seems like the weekend was still sky of a full game. One full game at Casey and he's in (assuming he continues his form). Trenners could be St Kilda or he following week (being available for senior selection at least).
-
Very sad for him, all the best for his recovery. Once he's up and running I doubt Petracca will take him for some bare foot basketball! (A bit of lightness in a sad conversation)
-
Last week I would've agreed, but I also said if the players are prepared for and go with his style than it works a lot better. Vs Essendon all the players were flat footed, 2nd quarter onwards they were ready, leading and helping. He helped turn the game our way in the 2nd quarter with his run out the backline. I would not expect many changes, ANB is unlucky but I don't think it's right to take Stretch out after one game. He can keep putting up his hand and his patience will be rewarded. This is what we've been wanting all these years, players from Casey putting pressure on senior players to perform.

The review system is massively flawed that the goal post cameras are only available at premium venues. If they are serious about this system it must be the same across the board. FWIW I don't think that ball was full across the line but the moment goal post cam was unavailable it was irrelevant them reviewing it. But it should be a standard across ALL games that goal post cam is available. Just as the ground must be up to certain codes for infrastructure and safety, they should be made to have the same angles you'd have for a standard MCG game covered for the purpose of review. There should also be something that comes up on the scoreboard for the people at the ground and on the telecast saying what the original decision is so if you see it's inconclusive you know which way it will go.

Out: Vince (sus), Wagner In: Garlett, Brayshaw Two changes to a side that almost got the job done against one of the in form teams. Wagner unlucky and honestly I won't be unhappy if he stays for this week, Bugg on his final chance to stamp himself in the side and Vanders possibly quite lucky as well. Frost keeps his spot as well although our lack of ruck support is really concerning.

I actually just saw that Brad Scott was unhappy about that situation that Petrie wasn't allowed to come back on. He is very lucky that Brown could come on in his place, no other game around the world allows an interchange if you've exhausted them despite injuries. It's simple, you play a man down until he comes back on. Amazing that even with 10+ goals from free kicks he can still be grumpy with rules/adjudication. God I hate the lot of them.
-
Very good question, personally I think there shouldn't be a player come on for him and if they want him to come back on they go one down while he gets treated.
-
The rule that has become a running is deliberate out of bounds. Fans are now cheering ironically for it and the umps are actually paying it. The AFL appear to be trying to rewrite the Oxford dictionary's definition of "deliberate". The umps most definitely got sucked into Norths BS playing for cheap frees, what would you expect when they have the greatest cheap free kick guy ever?
-
I'm pretty sure Roos was quoted as saying he was brought in a week too early, if that tracks he should have been playing this week. Brayshaw dominated VFL, no need to hold the kid back any longer. If Vince gets done (I haven't even seen the incident) easy swap Vince for Brayshaw. If not I feel Stretch or Wagner could be the unlucky one to miss out. As for who comes in for Garlett, it again could be one of those two. First half Kent was on the chopping block but boy he turned that around! Perhaps Vanders. Tough decisions to make at selection!

Really hope it's not as serious as everyone believes. I have great respect for him as a player and a person. Best of luck to him with (hopefully) coming back.
