  1. Yeah. I don't watch much freo games but Young is a jet and needs to be given the due respect.
  2. Good pod. Says nothing about loading- just tailoring programming for players and roles and a strategy to go hard at training to replicate match intensity
  3. Ask him about a correlation between training loads and our form, then call into the demonland podcast to reveal the answer to @Demonland and @binman live on air 😅
  4. Indeed. I can only presume he expected a long/lucrative offer after a premiership year and our original offer was lower/shorter than he thinks is reasonable. It's the only way that he goes from that interview to assessing his options imo
  5. Yeah, and the same bloke who has parents that take in players every year too. I think that's why there is such an emotional reaction on this thread
  6. I get it. I was more musing out aloud than really suggesting anti-loading theory. Carry on
  7. Totally get it. But for me the change in intensity in training seems at odds with the suggestion that our form has been effected by loading. The opposite almost seems plausible- ie. The harder we train the better we play, and you can't train super hard all year so we leave it to the end of the season haha. I assume loading is more about gym work and km's in the legs, but it's an interesting contradiction
  8. This seems to be at odds to what I'd have thought was the case? (unless the sessions are short and sharp). Intuitively I'd have thought intense match simulation sessions would cause more fatigue than other training styles.
  9. Is @binman Riley Beverage's ghost writer?!
  10. This thread is 34 pages long. The Jackson one is much larger. 80% of the posts in both of the topics of late are people taking cheap shots and making backhanded comments about 2 current players, both of which arguably won us the flag with their individual performances in the GF. I might be old school, but I think it's unnecessary.
  11. Moved past being Jaded and onto being Bitter?!
  12. Same experts that potted TMac for 'having the turning circle of the Titanic' or Ben Brown for having concrete hands. All of these players are clearly so much better than their understudies at Casey that picking minor flaws in their game is laughable. Talk about not being able to see the Forrest for the Trees.
  13. Eh this thread is just like the Jackson one; Hero 'fans' potting the players skills and value in an attempt to soften their own personal blow if they are to leave us.
  14. I've enjoyed the year to date. Our finals form at the end of last year set an unrealistic expectation for many. I'm able to see that as a but of an outlier so I've been comfortable with where we're at, although the next month will ultimately determine whether we've had a good year or not. If we finish top 4 we'll have had a ripper season
  15. Wonder how this rating is calculated. Given we have lots of I50s and were 2nd on the ladder I'm not surprised to see us rank poorly, especially our talls. Also, if the stat is a function of whether a player is able to apply pressure when they're near the ball the ranking makes more sense. All over the ground our team will back 1 player to win a contest while the other players set up to receive/ release. When that player doesn't win the contest we look like our players didn't compete. It's a fine line because in years gone by we would complain about our players all going for the same ball like auskickers.
  16. You had me nodding along about the mental fatigue, but you loose me thereafter. Still, your opinion has merit and you've made some good points. I'll also be sad if Gus leaves
  17. Jeez, are people are trying to play down his footy to make his departure easier to take? Some of these posts are ridiculous. Clearly the most explosive and promising young talent in the ruck position since Nic Nat. I don't believe some of the money that's being spoken about but Dockers would be silly not to at least have a go.
  18. This. Can't believe the amount of 'fans' who think it's their right to watch a unprecedented dynasty unfold before their eyes because we were sh1te for decades too. Throw the toys out of the pram after every loss!
  19. That added consideration is where I'm unsure and perhaps where I think the whole loading discussion becomes a bridge too far for me, but hope you're on the money. It must be said we played out of our skins through the last finals series and it would be nice to think it wasn't all by chance. As I've said a few times before I feel as though our side had a heap of confidence last year which is a distinguishable difference between the 2 seasons; We beat contenders and hung on in the tight games. Collingwood's ability to get the 4 points in the close ones reminds me of our year last year - everything that could go our way seemed to go our way at times.
  20. Of all the teams that you mention I would suggest our form has been the most 'off', which is probably why mo64 suggests we'd need a miraculous turn around (more than most). Brisbane have had covid, cats aren't loosing and Freos best isn't as good as ours so the magnitude of their comparable slump doesn't seem as severe. I don't think we're that far off decent form (we played a good bulldogs team yesterday without a few pretty key KPPs and only lost it in the lastfew minutes), however I'm worried about having to try to do some damage in the finals from outside the 8.
  21. Looks at the form lines and the home ground advantage. I'd be surprised if the odds have us as evens at bounce down
