  1. Excellent use of sources
  2. I agree with this. Permanent small forwards have a really tough gig i reckon, primarily because in addition to putting intense forward pressure on they have to take their chances. Kent does the the former well bit struggles a bit withe the latter. But not because he is a poor kick - as you say is actually a terrific kick, but sometimes when going for goals on the run he seems to rush it a little and doesn't quite balance up like, say a garlett. But i'm confident he will get better at this aspect and he has huge upside. I love his aggression and pressure and also how clever he is. Being a leftie also helps. he is in my best dozen players and as such really important for us.
  3. I wasn't far away (i missed Salem going out): “With Alex Neal-Bullen’s [recent] performance [in the VFL], he’ll come in the side. He’s been terrific in the seconds and played some terrific footy, which is good,” Roos told Melbourne TV. “Kenty, we think will get through training for us tomorrow (Friday) and he’s important player for us. “[We’ll] probably [bring in] Oscar McDonald as a defender, [who] will be coming in for Nev Jetta. Roos must have bought into the DL groupthink
  4. You might be right, but Plapp has been effusive in his praise for ANB in the last 3 weeks and Roos has consistently emphasised the need for those in the twos to put blocks of good games together to be considered for senior selection and the importance of rewarding such form.
  5. Or is that a short tall...
  6. Agree they might drop Harmes and also that Kent comes back in (we missed his aggression and pressure in the forward half last week i thought). But surely ANB comes in after his run of great games at Casey. I thought OMac might come in for Garland, but perhaps Trengove comes in instead (though that would leave us a tall short down back)
  7. He always seems to be smiling in photos, including training ones.
  8. Please refer to the proposed amendment to the DL code of conduct: 'Any party who posts rumours on Demonland pertaining to issues such as, but not limited to: the recruitment of players to the MFC, unrest within the playing ranks, appointment of coaches, retirement of CEOs, potential new sponsors, drug charges or the selection of much loved players who have battled injury shall face disciplinary action if they do not also note the source of said information. The source need not be explicitly named however an general indication of who has passed on said information is required so Demonland members and casual readers can develop a view of the veracity of the rumour'.
  9. I'd be really surprised if ANB isn't selected. They have to reward his form - 3 best ons in a row. Sends a funny message if not picked. I think they'll bring OMac in and Kent comes straight back in. So who goes out? Stretch would have been borderline before last but he had his best game of AFL last week so they'll stick with him. I think Michie stays in as the small HB. Wagner was alos poor so i guess he's a chance to go out, though i think the'll stay the course (Hunt and Wagner have both dropped off after Demonland came on board as sponsors - perhaps they got ahead of themselves!) Jetts is obviously out. Unfortunately for Garland i think he'll go. He is one of my favorites but he seems to be really struggling to adapt to the zone defense. I think Harmes will be the other unlucky one. Hasn't done much wrong but wasn't great last week and ANB is a straight swap.
  10. He gave no opinion on the likelihood of him choosing the dees?
  11. Sam McClure (who i find increasingly annoying) said on 3aw the front runners for Prestia are Tigers and Blues, with the dees in the frame. Surely of those clubs the dess would be a better destination for him, particularly given his connections to the club.
  12. I agree. A good analogy is pro golfers. The best players hit pressure shots under the gun because of swings that are metronomic. Same goes for nba basketballers. The best shot i have ever seen is curry. His shooting action is pure and the same from wherever he shoots from on the court. The main problem with hogan is that his run up and action is a little different every time
  13. Bb i see your point about tge beed for a plan b and not having one comes at the exspense of maximizing the chances of winning. I wonder though with such a big strategic change combined with such an inexperienced side that they only really can focus on plan a. The hawks can have plan a, b and c
  14. As the Fonz would say - exactamundo! In the first half Gawn got smashed, Hogan was ineffectual, Jones was average, Garlett went missing and Pederson was poor. Yes and so was Watts. Yet Watts was the only one of those players who markedly improved their performance in the second half. A bit of balance would not go astray.
  15. Despise? That's a very strong emotion. I thought you didn't get emotionally invested in players? As for his so called insipid display and junk time goals one can only assume, given your football knowledge, that the club won't stand for it and despite the credits he has built up this season Roos will agree with your assessment and drop him from the seniors to send a strong signal to the whole playing list that such displays will not be tolerated.
  16. The same could be said of Hogan. The difference is he didn't turn his day around in the way JW did (even with Watts trying to help to do so). By the by Watts' efforts to do so makes ýour assertion that he needs to learn how to impact games even when he's having an off day a little strange
  17. Surely with outright fantasy you'd choose a stronger side. Robbie Flower would be my first picked, followed by a pre injury Ox. but Stan Alves, hardeman, G Healy and Wells would all get a run. As would Hogan, the two Vineys Wattsy, Gawn and hogan. Oh i'd chuck RDB in there as well and for fun i'd have Lawrie Fowler and maybe even Mark Jackson.
  18. Its funny you should say that as i was thinking this arvo that bringing Spencer in for that game and playing maxy forward a bit might have been an interesting ploy. Hindsight call yes and perhaps it would have cost too much in the run department but Maxy could have really used a good chop out and Spencer if nothing else would have bashed and crashed the two opposition ruckman.
  19. Me too. I loved the fact he willed himself back into the contest and tried to get the team back into the contest. He was very vocal in the second half and as i said ran hard to give options, when many of his teammates seemed to stopped running. He really tried to bring Hogan into the game and kicked a couple of brilliantly weighted kicks to advantage, including the one that Hogan missed from dead in front at the Punt road end (which as noted in the Hun zinged up the other end from the kick out, with the bullies kicking a goal) and his last quarter goal. There was one where he ran from deep forward to the members wing to space calling for the ball from a player in the centre, who ignored him and went to the other side. I think we ended up kicking a goal (at the city end) or at least having a shot on goals so hard to say it was the wrong option but it was lucky goal and i thought the right play was to go to Jack. But my point was Jack gut rn back to the forward pocket to be an option again when the ball went through. I watched him and he was totally spent, down on haunches and sucking wind. As you say if more of his team mates had applied the same effort we might of got closer. Also it should not be underestimated the value of his 3 second half goals (and two goals assists) to the final score line. A five goal loss is a lot mote credible than a 8 goal loss, which explains the general media commentary (which is largely that a five goals loss is a pretty true reflection of the gap between the teams). One of the first picked.
  20. Poor in the first half - like Hogan just didn't seem switched on. That said gut run a number of times and players failed to honour the run to space. I was impressed by his effort to turn his game around and keep competing. Sublime kick.
  21. Thanks PD, i value your views particularly on WA related matters (eg on WA players). Given what i have read and heard about Jesse it It doesn't surprise me in the least that a big factor in his decision will family related. However my guess its not about being away from his family (as might have been the case with Jimmy Toumpas) but more about his familial responsibilities. This actually gives me more confidence he will stay as the club has shown a clear commitment to support this responsibility (not just this year but from the get go) and with a four month end of season break and the world being closer than ever thank to technology he can manage those responsibilities sort of stuff (as opposed to say homesickness). But as you say what will be will be.
  22. Not even in the top 500 of worst posts. And i'm being serious,
