  1. The comments section of the Hun is the gift that keeps giving. Loved this from this article: Tyson15 hours ago Bring him out Queen's birtbday with your stupid trumpet man and the Maggies will trounce you again. Shocking club edit: Tyson is the name of the dude posting the commitment not our player. He's referring to the Trac
  2. This is why he is in the side, pure and simple. With the style of footy we're playing quality kicks off half back are absolutely critical. On On the Couch last night they were saying how big a blow to doggies premiership chance murphy injury will be for precisely this reason. Rohan Connoly wrote an article today saying how critical quality kicks are circa 2016. Call it the Hawthorn effect. RC argued a key reason the tigers, freo and pies are struggling is they have few, if any elite users of the ball. Well as dees fans know we struggle mightily in that department as well. I love Grimes but he just can't be trusted to hit those 4O metre diagonal kicks to the corridor that create attacking moves, let alone the 50 metre cross to the fat side that opens up play. Jetts is ok but can't kick long, Dunn ok and Salem a ripper. But TMac, Lumumba, Garland (when in) and M Jones are sketchy. If we had better kicks in the back half then yes Grimes ahead of Wagner, but we don't. Wagner is also taller which is handy. I agree he wasn't brilliant but to suggest his selection cost us the game is silly. How would have Grime gone in that wind? I predict he'll stay in the team. its a selection that has one eye on the future but is also about the now. I also reckon he has something about him that suggests once he picks up the pace of AFL he'll improve sharply and become a very reliable defender.
  3. He doesn't look that over weight
  4. I reckon he's a chance to get picked. I know it would go against their stated timeline but i wonder if they might drop AVB and bring in the Trac. You can see he is a big stage player and would bring an x factor to the forward line. Playing him in VB's role as a permanent forward wouldn't expose any issues with his tank (though for Pete's sake he must be pretty fit by now surely) and how good would it be for the buzz at the club if he lit up the g against the old enemy and helped us snag a win. Particularly if he did so alongside Hogan and Oliver (and perhaps Brayshaw) in the team. It would make the ANZAC eve game a real blockbuster (imagine the pies and tigers in successive weeks - both clubs would go into meltdown! Oh my i'm getting way ahead of myself. It's that Pollyanna syndrome flaring up)
  5. I agree. Probably won't happen as they are playing a zone defense and i guess it is important in the long run to get that right and the best practice is match practice but as i suggested with Daniher i'd run Frost with Cloke and blanket him. He's got the tank and height to go with him and speed to run off him so he's not just a pure lock down defender (which teams can't really afford to have anymore). TMac can take Cloke whn Frost has to give Gawn a chop out. Cloke is a confidence player who if we can shut out early will struggle to get into the game.
  6. Really frustrating loss. If Roos was a more defensive coach we would have won that game.....
  7. Thanks for the response. With all due respect the above quote is quite different in tone from the first. Knowing it is one player how as you say might have an axe to grind is important context and looking forward to Goodwin taking over doesn't equate to Roos not being liked by the playing group or that they are looking forward to see the back of him. That the players are looking forward to Goodwin taking over reflects comments from Prodee who posted something similar recently. He also noted in that post that players still respect Roos.
  8. This sort of rubbish [censored] me. Unless you name your so called 'authority' you have zero credibility.
  9. Two games. Four goals. I wish we had more players who when in bad form still manged 2 goals a game.
  10. The bookies would never, ever take that bet. Never. Ever.
  11. A win this week would annoy me as it would just reinforce what a chance we missed last week. A win means nothing and i almost hope we lose. JOKES!!!!! i hope we smash them. Go dees!
  12. I agree with this. Perhaps the price of pushing for victory in the NAB games and round 1.
  13. Who's Jack Trengove?
  14. Desire to throttle someone yes. All other desires no. I hope they win this week.
  15. I haven't had any desire to reflect on the loss, which is a direct result of how flat i felt/feel about it. But for what its worth here are some random thoughts: Suggestions that the loss is as bad as 186 or for that matter some forensic investigation investigation by PJ is warranted is tosh That said there is no getting away from the fact that for a range of reasons it was a very, very bad loss. One reason is that it undid so much of the positive energy that had built up over the last few months and allowed the media jackals to launch into us again The loss exposed how fragile any confidence is from fans A mate suggested to me that apart from anything else it might have cost us 2k members which is about $400k in revenue. I reckon he's probably right I lauded Roos last week but he deserves a wack this week: After making a point of saying before the first round they were focused on picking only fit players they seemingly picked an underdone Brayshaw (though that's confusing - after all he dominated in the VFL and racked up 30 plus possessions) and a 'tired' Oliver Such was the importance of getting a win they had to have as many hardened players in as possible, which meant they simply had to pick Dunn Roos noted they were preparing for the bombers best. Well their best involves Daniher being up and about. If truth be told if Daniher could kick they would have won by 5 goals. As many have suggested they should have picked Frost and sat him on Daniher, He has both the height and tank to go with him. We might have won the game had they selected Frost The team should have been rabid at the opening bounce and ensured they gave the bombers no sniff. They weren't. of course the player bear some responsibility here but so do the coaches God knows why they didn't 'put a defensive forward on McDonald-Tipungwuti, such was his influence. He got a ridiculous amount of easy ball We were out coached. Woosha came up with a possession heavy game plan that flummoxed us and neither the players or coaches adequately responded As 45HG says players refused to run to cover space/players on the outside and were lazy. Unforgivable Much of the commentary about Hogan is way over the top. That said he needs to address his body language. i'm sure he will. The game exposed one of our biggest weaknesses - how slow we are I'm sick of us not winning such games.
  16. I had the same thought. Surely two trolls could not be so banal. He (i assume a he, because i'll bet london to a brick its' a bloke) should do some troll training before going public. Perhaps tease his little sister or back chat his dad. Then maybe make an off Broadway debut in the comments section of an innocuous hun article.
  17. I wasn't aware of that option. That's a good idea. Are you sure it goes to the club?
  18. I hate the Smart replay, can't stand the box/border. If feels like watching the game through a hole in a cardboard box. As for how to illegally obtain copyrighted content, i couldn't possibly say, suffice to say i don't watch the smart replay
  19. For reasons i've outlined before i can't see Hogan wanting to return to WA (mainly related to the burden of travel, but as private fella i can't see him enjoying the fish bowl in a two team provincial town) but for the sake of argument lets say he is considering a move back home. As a competitive beast Hogan, like most players, priority will be playing in and winning finals. If he honors his contrast with the dees then any move would be for the 2018 season. I reckon Freos premiership window will be closed by then and more than likely they will be back in the rebuild phase. I can't see him wanting to be part of a rebuild again, particularity if the club he has been laying at is reaping the reward of its rebuild (on the current trajectory we should be a top 4 side in 2018 - i hope!). WC might still be a realistic chance of a flag then but would need to keep building and not go backwards. They do have Kennedy but of course would take Hogan if available. So i can't see him at Freo, leaving only one WA club for him to do a deal with. But as i say i can't see him returning to WA and we will be in a position to match almost any offer.
  20. Ahh i was under the impression that this function was blocked with AFL live pass to protect Fox and 7. Are you 100% sure it works?
  21. Found these comments under the article funny. I could have been reading DL! Christian4 hours ago It's 1 game - relax FlagShare 1LikeReply Benjamin4 hours ago @Christian Here Here Christian. Watts has many rounds left to disappoint as I know he can do.
  22. I like how they have been discounted already.
  23. I agree. It is definitely something that has changed this year. Players seemingly have more confidence in him and are looking for him more. I think that it is virtuous cycle as this confidence helps Jack.
  24. What? I thought his game on Saturday was his first and only decent game of AFL football!
