  1. As i said you make a good point about Frost, particularly about his potential trade value. But my solution would be to keep Frost. Partly because i am not totally convinced you can't have all of Tom McDonald, Oscar McDonald, Frost, Lever, and Joel Smith at the club and perhaps even in the same side, particularly if Smith goes to the midfield which i suspect he might. Keep in mind Lewis and Vince have both been playing off the HB and both will finish soon so that frees up some spots down back. Yes i know Lever, Frost and Smith are tall but they are so athletic that i reckon they can play as running half back flankers rather than just as key position players. And i wonder if TMac might end up as an old fashioned swing man given how natural he has started looking as a forward? But i guess the main reason my solution would be to keep Frost is i hate it when any player is forced out of the club. Unless they are a peanut.
  2. Some good points, particularly Smith's capacity to offer the speed and versatility of Frost. But i would hate to see Frost go. I think he has huge upside (which of course gives him some trade value) and i really like his athleticism. Am i right in thinking he was basketballer that came to footy quite late? Lever is very athletic, as is smith and frost and all have the ability to cover smaller players as well as tall ones, (Omac and TMac less so) - a very handy skill in with the strong zone we favour down back. Handy also to have 190 plus athletic types running of the half back line at centre square restarts. It would be interesting to see if they could all play together. With Smith i can see him going into the midfield at some stage.
  3. Ok my wit was more witless than witty. My point was that you cannot seriously suggest that if the $800k offer on the table is correct 'it's clear the FD don't share the same views as many on here in regards to Frost and Oscar'. Surely you are joking? Its clear? That assertion is completely without logic. Clear to you becasue its suits your confirmation bias. If not joking then you are completely clutching at straws about OMac, perhaps because your assessment of him as not at AFL standard has been proven categorically wrong. I can't be bothered going back and find quotes but you have made it abundantly clear you don't rate OMac. Fine. You're welcome to your opinion. But to suggest going after Lever is an indication of how the club rates Omac is just silly. The club has made it crystal clear how highly they rate OMac. He was in the best 22 at the start of the year when we had all of our players fit - after being in the side all last year. He was dropped for 1 (2?) game and since has not look like being dropped. Was it you that said he was only in the side because of injuries to Gawn and Hogan and he would be dropped as soon they were back? If not no doubt you agreed. Well that has been proven to be completely wrong. We are pushing for top 4 and Omac is best 18 lock. Do you at least acknowledge that now? The club rate OMac incredibly highly. Of that there is no question. You don't, but you simply cannot mount a credible argument the club don't. The evidence is compelling that the club rate him. Going after Lever is no reflection on how they rate OMac, or Frost for that matter. Lever is a total gun. Of course they want him. I do too. And have said as much. I see no issue in him coming into the side and Omac, TMac and Frost all playing in the same side. I doubt the club do either. The funny thing is if we did get him you'll be spending the pre season writing OMac off and saying there is no way both him, Frost and Lever can can be in the side. Until they all line up together round one when you will find some other reason to criticise Omac. Unlike you i rate Omac very highly and always have done. In the last few games we are starting to see why i rate him so highly. In terms of my assessment i like that fact that the evidence suggests the highly paid MFC coaching staff who have been in footy all their lives share my assessment.
  4. This is comedy gold. I can only assume you were deliberately trying to be funny and having a subtle dig at yourself. If so then well played sir, If not, then........
  5. Reminds me of steven icke. Not so much in style, more the fact that icky was a brilliant pick up (and also an excellent defender).
  6. I find it funny how many people on dl constantly point out how useless stats are. Probably the same people who yell 'just kick it' at the footy all day like it is still 1981. You only have to listen to coaches post match pressers or even those in match on ground chats to get a sense of how important stats in their totality (as opposed to isolated stats) are to clubs. Clubs that pay big dollars for the data, the software to analyse it and employees to pore over their and other clubs stats.
  7. One of the great reggae songs
  8. Fanatastic stuff Ash. Some great memories there. You are an honorary dee i'm afraid. Have you made a similar EFC compilation? If i may offer one possible improvement, it would be great to have text with the the year and round for each goal.
  9. Yes i know. It was an attempt at a joke. I just found it amusing he topped our list given the back and forth about him. I agree with your comments. To be honest ive never said he is a star, or even will be. But i reckon he is progressing ok and at this stage of his career is comparable to his brother at the same stage.
  10. So what you're saying is these stats have some validity. Teflects well on omac i guess
  11. Right about what? I posted the graphic to highlight what a great defender May is, this being a thread about May and all. Remarkably since the start of 2015 he has missed 11 games and the suns have lost them all. Critical player for them as are the other players at the top of team's lists. Some pretty good players at the top of those lists. Oh wait, i see what you're getting at. OMac tops ours Go figure.. Who would have thunk it? That Oliver lad seems to be pretty important also.
  12. Honestly, you seem to have a significant problem with the English language, and in particular the meaning of words. Who said anything about bare minimums or minimum requirements? Until this post you did not mention anything about bare minimums or minimum requirements and nor did I. You challenged posters to give an example OMac's 'strong attributes'. Note you didn't say 'elite attributes', 'above average attributes' or anything similar. You used the phrase 'strong attributes'. Clearly he has a number of strong attributes. Otherwise he would not have been drafted by an AFL club, not would he be in the second year of an AFL career, playing regularly for a team that is on the improve and hoping to make finals. or for that matter a key player in back 6 that kept the premiership favorites - and highest scoring side in the league - to 10 odd goals on their home ground in near perfect conditions. I agree the qualities I listed as his 'strong points' are minimum requirements for a defender playing at this level. Strong attributes in other words. It makes no sense at all to suggest to he has no strong attributes. Plain silly. Similarly you stated he was not AFL standard. Despite the fact he is playing AFL and continues to get selected to play AFL senior football. And don't give me nonsense about not having other options. if he was not at AFL standard he would have been de-listed after his first season and if he had somehow avoided that fate would not be selected in the seniors this year. Again plain silly. Now to be clear i have not made similarly silly, black and white, definitive statements about OMac. He has a long way to go. We do need another defender and in particularly a really good defender like May or Lever. If we got one i believe (but will not state as fact as you seem so keen to do) he would remain in the team and be a very important tall running defender. But how about we agree to disagree and leave it there on the OMac topic. I think the one thing we can both agree on is we are not going to convince the other person our position is the correct one.
  13. Surprise, surprise. A poster responds to your puerile offer of $10 to a poster to find 'one strong attribute that Oscar has to his game'. A poster responds with not one but two 'strong attributes' - one percenters (which is actually a goods stat in terms of assessing a players effort level) and endurance, which is an obvious strength of OMac. And you derisively reject both points. Classic case of confirmation bias if i ever saw one. OMac played well last week and was ok this week. And i watched both games. His effort, spoiling, ability to run back with the flight of the ball and not give away a free, his ability to play his part in a zone defense, his work ethic and his team first attitude are all strong attributes that Oscar brings to his game. You can give my $10 to Demonland.
  14. Treloar wasn't their best mid. At least i don't think so. I would have had Greene, Cognilio and Shiel all ahead of him.
  15. The Wet Coke 20006 flag tainted? not in my book. In fact i reckon they deserve more kudos. After all still being able to win a flag after a decade long tear is quite some feat.
  16. Agree and you would have to assume there is fair chance it was Hird who both recorded and leaked it. If it was him it really beggars belief. It might well be a manifestation of him being unwell - an leaving aside the hypocrisy of him leaking given his trenchant criticism of the AFL for doing so - but if was him it can only be a bad thing to have more media about this story. But more concerning would be the decision of the Hun to run with it and make it front page news no less with probably dozen related articles (regardless of who leaked it). They ran big stories about his mental health when he was hospitalized and gave air time to people who slammed the media and the AFL for bullying him and causing him to become unwell. And now they put this out there when it can only harm his mental health? Irresponsible.
  17. Another sad chapter in this sad story. And one that show just how compromised the Herald Sun is in all of this. As Gil said there is absolutely nothing new here and nothing even remotely newsworthy. Faced with nearly an entire list being suspended the inner sanctum, after thinking they might escape this scenario because of a commitment they thought they had from Gil are furious. That seems to be the gist of it. Of course they are furious. Next they'l run a story with the headline Man stubs toe and says OW Even more ridiculous is that a peanut MP thinks this somehow justifies an enquiry. Please. I haven't bothered with the articles but is there any detail on who recorded the meeting, if those present knew it was being recorded and who gave the recording to the Hun?
  18. Nice hat. I notice red hair runs in the family. On hats i was amazed they chose to set the merch tent up on the opposite side to where all the fans were and were always going to be given the heat. Marketing 101 I was going to buy a hat and thought bugger it.
  19. Seems like a nice kid. By the by Drunkn i went to the sessions today and on leaving at the end saw some people around dec, Do you have a nice new dees hat?
  20. 100% agree with all of the above. I'd add that once the players have served their time there should be no further punishment
  21. The other positive is that the MFC players who played multiple game for Casey and Smith and Keilty will know each other pretty well, which has to hep in terms of them settling in and the general vibe around the club
  22. Its great isn't it? Plapp must be stoked as both likely to be with Casey most of the year so they don't lose the talent or the synergy and history they have with their Casey team mates. But will have the advantage of AFL level training, development and training. A win for both young men and both clubs. A very smart move.
