Makes the decision to play him against the crows even more perplexing
-
Some fella called into ABC radio footy show and said that he heard Gil say our bombers game will be held between round 15 and 16. Nothing on the AL website so sounds a bit unlikely, but who knows
-
There was an even worse one. I think Langdon had the ball at CHF, in maybe the second quater and a crows player came within 1 metre i reckon. All langdon had to do was turn to right and feint to kick and it would have been paid, but he didn't react at all and nor did the umpire. The commentators noted it was debutant and that he was lucky, bit of course didn't criticise the non call. On commentators my head is literally going to explode the next time i hear Dwayne say ' nice drop step'. What the [censored] is DROP STEP!!!!!! And while i'm on this topic i will literally disintegrate next time one of those peanuts say something similar to 'literally anything could happen here' NO.IT. COULDN'T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be seriously [censored] off if that is the case. Does not deserve to be stand in captain the way he has gone about his football this year.

The reason why the odds are such an accurate guide to probable outcomes is that once the market is initially framed by the bookmakers the market (ie punters placing bets), which is by in large objective, determines the odds. The bigger the market (tie the more money, the more punters) the more reliable those odds are. The odds were framed Wednesday, but even after the market has responded (though the bulk of the bets will come tomorrow and Sunday) we are still $1.50 favorites. By the by, not surprisingly given all the variables, the results have been very volatile this season in terms of the odds reflecting outcomes. This meant there was lots of value to be had so far, if you could find it. That is starting to change now and normal transmission seems to be restored with favorites winning most games in the last 2 weeks and fewer upsets. The ladder is starting to reflect that shift.

Agree with all of the above. The only problem with him as a mid is how many we currently have vying for minutes. It is pretty obvious that is midfield or nothing for Gus and adding one more player to the mix makes it hard to see how he he gets enough minutes in there. Don't mind him as half forward.
-
Great minds. I had the exact same thought last night. The other phrase that grates is 'they love the ball in his hands' They don't include me. Had to laugh last night when Eddie said near the start of the third how good gus had been kicking in the game. Funnily enough from that point on his kicking was really good!

to be clear, i'm a caller not a co host

As regular posters might know i am partial to punt on the footy. Whilst of course the odds do not always reflect the outcome they remain the most accurate predictor of outcomes. So as dees fans how do we feel about the odds for the roos game, which at the time of writing have dees as raging favorites at $1.51 and the line at plus 10.5? By the by for te sake of comparison the line in the crows game was plus 14.5?
-
So did Lever five minutes before half time. i kid you not.
-
Freudian slip, no doubt about it. Curious.

Can't help sorry Skuit, though i'm happy to check AFL stats pro. But i do have band for the soundtrack and launch (who by the by i can heartily recommend to catch live, if they are still playing and covid permitting - great fun)
-
Maybe. But to be honest his kicking was no worse than it usually is. He looks like a butcher. Appropriate given how badly he butchers the ball every time he plays
-
I have no idea who Goodwin will select. He doesn't so how could i? But if i were king for the day: I''d drop Melksham in a heartbeat. I don't care how good his kicking is (which shows how frustrated i am with him) His attitude is rubbish. Is playing for himself. Exhibit A was his instinctive annoyed reaction when tracc took advantage after he was paid a free. And his halfhearted effort at marking (clearly worried about contact) put the the icing on the [censored] cake. Benell was abysmal. First the first time his lack of physical intensity was an issue for me. The worst it has been. Maybe one more chance, but i'm vascilating. Which is very frustrating as it is not possible for us to need his skill more. Jones out. Actually played not too bad. But in my team there is no room against a pretty quick roos team (actually no team) for wagon one, two and three of the slow train - Tomlinson, Brayshaw and Jones. At half time Brayshaw was out of my team (but not goody's - brayshaw is Donald trump and Goodwin's his incorrigibles - doesn't mater what he does, he loves him) but a decent second half saves him. I was pleasantly surprised i have to say, i thought it was strange move by Goody putting him in the guts, but he seemed to relish the position. Looks like we have fond another inside mid, which is good because i was worried we didn't have enough. ANB out. What can i say, other than if we have almost a full list to choose from and he gets a game our list aint that strong. In Hannan for Melksham. Kozzie for ANB. Omac goes comes in to play full back. Tomlinson replaces Jones on the wing, or wherever it is he actually plays. On Tomlinson he was ok, but he is not a defender. We got him to run up and down the wings. How about we play him in that role. Tracca, at the risk of a weird form of deja vu my thought watching live (and then the replay they showed), was that goal by Himmleburg was 99% Tomo's fault (the other 1% was Lever). I might be wrong and will look at the tape but my recollection is he was man on man with with him in the marking contest, completely lost body contact with him, got lost when the ball hit the ground, and allowed Himmleburg to be able to drop the mark, still crumb it himself (no small feat given his size - this is where the 1% Lever comes in) and snap an easy goal. I might well be wrong, and perhaps it is my Omac confirmation bias at play (i'll get that checked by a doctor i think) but my thought when watching the replay was 'imagine what DL posters would say if it was Omac who was schooled so badly by a big unco rookie'.

Captain my captain, what about my suggestion of an amnesty for the non believers, the heretics? We need all demonlanders to join our crusade. Now is the time to come together, for forgiveness for those who have turned away from the light and join as one in the church of Clayton Let me do the sarcasm, it doesn't become you. You stay above the ruck and let me battle wirh the pagans in their muddy paddocks. Oh and by the by, best not mention his disposals. There was no miracle last night (actually maybe one - he got two frees for being scargged) he still remains a poor kick.
-
In case you missed it
-
How's this for a number: 11 of our 'players" have had less than 5 disposals. Bennell 1.
-
Crows leading clearances
-
Looking a bit sickly too bbo. on the sauce I suspect
-
No dramas. We won't need him against one of the best rucks, in top form....
-
Have i ever mentioned I don't think we are very good kicks of the football?
-
Yep. On himmelburg

Josh, AFL stats pro is an AFL owned product on AFL.com.au. It has all the stats for all the players an every game. i presume it is the software system the AFL use to generate all their stats on each game. You can have a squiz at it here In terms of stats it has similar functionality to footy wire (a brilliant site) in terms of being able to compare players - though stats pro only goes back to 2017 and footy wire goes way back. For stats i much prefer footy wire But what stats pro has that sets it apart is vision of every involvement (not possession, involvement so includes one per centers, tackles etc etc) - which i presume correlate to the stats AFL collect - of every player in every game going back of the start of the 2017 season At the risk of being nerdy fan boy I have to say it is utterly brilliant, if like me you are pedant, or if like me you also enjoy watching set ups, systems and/or just what individual players do in a game. As an example of how i use it, watching on TV i sometimes find it really hard to work out if a how a particular player played. Live it is much easier because you can see how hard they run and their positioning. Given stats pro uses the broadcast vision you can't really see that aspect so well but reviewing all their involvements gives a good sense of their impact. So looking at Locharts involvements shows that he has lot more impact than his stats suggest (though not his last game). Also if there is a debate about an incident or in the games of Omac and georgiades you can check all their involvements in the game. The video doesn't lie and helps to mitigate against confirmation bias - though in our post truth world people still manage to see what they want to see. So you can watch as often as you like georgiades taking his one contested mark and clearly see Omac is not on him, is in fact on Westhoff and flies for the mark with May, Gawn and Westhof. You can also see Salem allows georgiades a free run at the ball, not even attempting to block his run and Lever, who is at the base of the pack and is supposed to be the player who intercepts in that situation stays down and looks meekly up to watch the mark. I am amazed the AFL do not promote it at all as their website is completely rubbish in almost every other respect (use the full name of the venue not its initials for god's sake! - by the by GS is Giants stadium) Anyone can look at the stats but to look at the vision you have be an AFL Live Pass subscriber. There is info about that here, but in short you need to pay a subscription, which also gives you access to game replays and live streaming of games to your phone or tablet. But if you are a telstra customer, as i am for work, you get the AFL live pass for free. Which i reckon is good deal. Particularly given i don't pay the telstra bill. I wish you good forensicing.

Yes that's true. Good points. I do wonder though a will to win can be confused with how ferocious player is at the contest, even by recruiters and and that it means selections can be weighted to the bull at gate type, like Viney for example. On Viney, he certainly has a will to win and is fierce at the contest. unfortunately he lacks the skill set to help us win.
