  1. Who's to say we wont recruit him
  2. He is getting smashed in every game. In marking contests and in the ruck. And his understandable frustration is starting to show. On that, why when the game was out of reach didn't Tmac take some centre bounces and round the ground stoppages (leaving aside his lack of mobility and the fact the only time now he gets off the ground is when flying to games)? Instead they threw jackson in there, which is fine but id rather Tmac get belted than a first year string bean.
  3. I can't recall the exact stat but at about the 13 minute mark of the first quarter one of the commentators noted we had some crazy amount of turnovers. 16 is in my mind, but whatever it is is was off the charts. It was just so infuriating to watch. And so many of our turnovers happened on our half forward line, which in footy these days that is probably the worst spot to turn it over as(except in front of goals - and even then there should be traffic) as it gives the opposition the corridor and as attacking team is pushing forward an open space to launch an easy counter attack. Every team employs all team zones now. One on one footy is history. No zone can defend even half the number we coughed up last night.it is only luck we didn't lose that game by 10 golas or more.
  4. I've mad the point on the podcast last week that an issue for us is we seem not to look to switch from the back pocket. We always go down the line. And knowing that teams give us that kick to the pocket and then set up down the line. No doubt part of it is a directive to go to max but as i noted it is also because our players are simply not confident taking the switch kick on - which is a worry because a 40 metre kick to a free player is a pretty basic skill at any level, let alone the elite level. Makes us super predictable, means maxy gets smashed 25 times a game and even if he does mark he has to kick to a contest down the line too as every player is on that side and opposition team are happy for him to try to a kick to the corridor knowing he will almost certainly not hit the target. Lever is the main culprit with this (he often doesn't even look) but not the only one. Again it is all comes back to our sub standard kicking skills.
  5. To be honest this is why talk of cliques, fractures don't overly concern me. All teams have their issues, cliques and people who don't get along etc etc. As you rightly say it is how they are dealt with and managed. Winning certainly helps with that. Look at the Australian cricket team during the Warne, Waugh era. The two most important members of that team - the talismen, could not stand each other in the last few years they played. Barely talked by all accounts. Didn't hurt too much where it counted on field. But good managers, manage. A concern i have always had with Goody - and it is a feeling, i don't have inside word or anything - is i wonder how he is with man management. Sure positive relationships are critical but the the best managers know how to harmonise a group and to have different personalities and styles reach their potential and play their part. I didn't like the Watts situation. Under roos he played his best footy, because he allowed him to be who he was. I understand i don't know what was going on behind the scenes and from many posted here (including leoncelli any number of times) there were reports about his off field behavior and impact on the group from a culture perspective. All of which might be true (and for mine, within reason, i could care less what they do off field). But whilst i respect the decision to trade him - and not wanting to pone that decision up for debate, i get the argument for that decision - i still wonder if Goody might have managed him differently to get a good outcome. The best teams, be that in work or sport - are made up off different cats. Robots don't win premierships.
  6. I think the strategy is for Andy to introduce me not as a co host but caller to the how Andy: 'Joining me as co host tonight is long time Demonlander, George on the Outer, welcome George George: 'good evening Andy and can i say i am really looking forward to the NBA starting' Andy: 'and i have just received our first caller of the night, long time Demonland podcast caller, the ridiculously optimistic binman - hello binman, still got your rose and blue colored glasses on or are you actually disappointed this week...' binman: 'thanks for taking my call Andy - i blame my avatar for my making me believe this week - needless to say we have parted ways and i have taken up with grumpy Garry Baker avatar again, and like him i more than disappointed this week - angry and frustrated is closer to the mark
  7. Still watching channel 7 rubbish waiting for his presser. I want something from him other than hollow platitudes
  8. I see what you did there..... To clarify tmac needs a fee games to run into some form?
  9. So much to be gutted by. Too raw to be get my head around that.game. So I've just got one thing. Tom McDonald is not in AFL shape. Physically. Or mentally. He is miles off. It's not a form thing. It's a physically not up to an elite sport thing. He was beyond a liability tonight. On a fast deck his complete lack of mobility and speed was shocking. Exhibit A of an alphabet of examples. His inability to get close to marking that pass in the second quarter from Salem was laughable. Sure it was yet another rubbish kick but he would have got to it in 2018 Which is not my issue. If he is not in shape he is not in shape. Allll of the above had to have been apparent to goody. As fans we trust the club to know that as we cant watch him.train or plsy VFL. I fully expected him to be in ripping nick and raring to go. Or why else pick him? My issue is how could goody arrive at the decision to pick him ? We had a near full list to choose from. And we pick a player not in shape. And a third tall firward to boot. I simply don't understand.
  10. 2 minutes to go and we just had our 4th inside 50. I feel sick

  16. I wasn't sure, but just received this missive from happy Garry Baker avatar: G'day bin, I hope you are well in this tricky times. Convince your betting partner to back the dees at the +6.5 line tonight (20 units @ $1.90), to win by more than 24.5 points (5 units and should get $8) and over 39.5 (2 units @ $15). Why? Because the odds for this match are out of wack. I'd have this match at even money, so $2.25 for the dees is way overs. And as i keep telling you punting is all about getting value. On the game i think we will win, and win well. Why? We played well last week, and got stronger as the game went on The power got over run on their home deck and looked out of gas We are fitter and have close to a full list to choose from Port are looking a bit cooked, rely on three young players for much of their spark and energy and one of them is not playing Whilst we have a four day break and they are coming off a five day break, they had to fly out from SA and we caught a bus home Playing the gabba is practically a home game for us I was never super confident last week - the lions are a serious side, but more the point they have very similar strengths to us - intensity, good at the contest, and a strong midfield The opposite is true of port - our mids will smash theirs and with Maxy giving ruck lessons we will dominate clearances They don't have two big monsters - or with Lycett out, even one - whose sole job is to smash into Maxy all night Their strength is how well they move the ball when on - and when they are on they play an attractive, free flowing game, which is what they will look to do Which perfectly suits us as our all team zone defence will frustrate their ball movement (and players) and a fast game will create space for us on the counter - our game plan works best when opposition teams go fast A weakness of theirs is their defence as it relies very heavily on their zone to work, in large part because Jonas is their only decent big defender Watch our forward half set up - we have had a big focus in the last few weeks to set up very wide of each other, which stretches opposition zones, creates one on ones (which we have been looking for with long kicks to the pockets) and creates space that allow players to lead into We have worked really hard to use that extra space to put that last kick inside 50 to a player in the corridor, like the one Oliver kicked to Melksham/Langdon last week - port will struggle to stop this kick as well as the lions did I wasn't sure about Tmac coming in but he he will give us much more physical grunt than Harley and three big forwards will stretch them on what should be a beautiful night for football (though perhaps a bit dewy in the second half) Tmac wil also provide another option for the down the line kick - which Maxy will appreciate With Marshall a (key) out they rely on Dixon - who is in awesome form it must be said, love how he plays and love his beard - but in May we have the perfect foil and Lever and Omac will look to spoil at every opportunity Defensively our weakness is smalls and mediums - but whilst Gray is ok he is not the threat he once was and Rozee is quality but hibbo can deal with him The Burgess 4 day factor - we will be ready to roll and i love the fact they have made noise about this - smart and a great message to send to opposition teams. it is no coincidence they chose burgess to to do the talking points interview this week, and no surprise that he directly spoke to our preparation for 4 day breaks (the planning for which commenced in the covid break and even after it seemed there would not be a need for a compressed fixture) They didn't pick jack Watts Dees by 31 points
  17. One outcome of the current outbreak in Melbourne is that, just as with other outbreaks around the world, it provides key data and information to build their understanding of how it transmitted, in what conditions and in what environments. And what the evidence appears to be clearly demonstraing is That almost all transmission is occurring in clusters and is spread indoors and when people are spending an extended time together in tbat space. In workplaces, family homes, schools, aged care facilities etc. Indoors where people spend a block of time together (ie close contacts). Despite it now being clear there was community transmission when the black lives matter march happened here thete has not been a single transmission traced to it. And that is despite 2 people who tested positive who were there (And who knows how many others who didnt get tested). And think of how many people were out and about in shops, supermarkets, malls etc just prior to lockdown when we now know there were a lot of positive cases in the community Of course random transmission is posiible and like you im not downplaying the risk. My family and I have followed every gov direction in this lockdown and the first one. And will continue to do so. I've barely left the house in weeks. I work in community services and my wife in aged care. I know the impact this virus can have on vulnerable communities. Amd I fully support this lockdown and the measures that are in place. But it seems pretty clear that the risk of transmission is low in outdoor settings, particularly if people are spaced apart. So in a state like QLD where there is statistical almost zero positive cases you could not get a safer place than at the footy in the outer. The crowd number almost wouldn't matter to to say 10, 000 as there would barely be any jams of people and once seated it only those in your vicinity you might have contact with. You are at much greater risk in your office, classroom or family home. Sad to say. Though of course everywhere but Melbourne and Sydney that risk is currently extremely very low. Have a great time at the footy. I have to say of all the things I missing atm - live music, catching up with mates, enjoying a punt and a beer at my local, being out and about - the thing I miss the most is going to the footy. So I will enjoy it vicariously though the dees fans there and look forward to hearing you all in the effects mike and reading your comments on dl. You are our proxies! Go redlegs!
  18. Terrific. Can I ask a favour. Two actually. At some point get near the effects mike that is sure to be close by. And when there is lull, yell GO REDLEGGERS super loud. And when we kick away in last quarter yell PERCENTAAAAAAAGE! super loud right after we snag a goal
