  1. It used be that you needed a live pass to access the replays and AFL stats pro on the AFL website. Not anymore. All are open now.
  2. Ok. Though obviously they must check injury status with the club. On the coaches voting front, some posters thought viney had a stinker against the hawks. But he got 2 coaches votes. And my guess is goodly gave them to him. Similarly viney polled much better in last years bluey than many predicted. Goody values players that apply pressure.
  3. Jordon edited to avoid the wrath of ds. Fair point about match report being compiled by the afl. But I have always assumed the clubs provide the injuiries and best players
  4. I have zero doubt Jordon will be in our finals team. Smart use of him as a medical sub I reckon. Kept him around the team. Gave him a much needed rest and allowed them to give sparrow a deserved run after being the go to medi sub for much of the season. I reckon they will do the same thing this week too. So, no change. I tgought viney played well. Harmes not so much. But for those potting those two, it is instructive in the club's match report, both were listed in tbe best players (with harmes listed third). BEST Melbourne: Oliver, Petracca, Harmes, May, Jackson, Brown, Viney I think ultimately they will want melksham in our finals team. But he can bide his time and come in for the cats game.
  5. Boys get to sleep in their own beds and even though it is a 12:10 start, can follow their normal game time preparation when playing in Melbourne. Suns had to pack in a crazy hurry, jump on a flight, stay in a hotel and be worried about the qld lockdown being extended.
  6. Credit where it is due. That's an amazing job by the AFL to get those games away
  7. Not quite what bowey had in mind for his debut
  8. Boys, we have two options. Option one, disembark and risk getting covid. Option two, stay on the plane and risk dying in a fiery avaiation fuel explosion. Show of hands? Option one it is. Oh, don't bother waking tmac up.
  9. Carrara is not one the 11 LGAs in lockdown. So maybe game not impacted? Crowd?
  10. And apparently her middle name is Dee Ramone
  11. Yes. And we shaded them in centre clearances
  12. You forgot Goody not reviewing the 2018 prelim...
  13. Max confirmed after the port game they were loading. Im no expert, but it has been part of football since at least Daniher's time as coach. So over 30 years. And I assume it has been perfected over the last 20 with all the advancements in technology (eg computing power, gps etc) and knowledge about physiology etc. And of course loading and tapering has been a feature of training programs preparing for events such as the Olympics for god knows how long, but probably at least 50 years in a really scientific way. All teams do it. Engorged onion posted a chart earlier in this thread of an example of what an afl club's program might look like. And suggested the clubs would all follow a very similar program That said there would obviously be some variables. For example, given loading might make it harder to win say a round 15 game, would a team that was battling to make the 8 go as hard as one that had a top 4 position locked in? The lack of vfl games for vic teams creates another variable, as does age profile of the list. Yet another one is how best to manage overall loads (ie training and games). We seem to be using a strategy of giving younger players much less game time than earlier in the season. I find it strange that the whole loading and preparation for finals is not discussed more, particularly given the afl media is dominated by ex footballers who would have gone through such programs all their career. Perhaps its the same as the palaver of the prevailing culture in footy of not using injuries as an excuse for poor performance.
  14. Weed will never be an alternative to Jackson. Jackson is a ruck first and foremost who plays some time up forward. Weed is a forward who is ok at giving a ruck a chop out. And Weed is juts not athletic enough to play the sort of minutes Jackson plays in the ruck Daw is a more likely alternative, But Jackson is not coming out, unless injured. Say all you want about his numbers, but he is critical to our structure and tactical flexibility in terms of how we use max. If you are any doubt how important Goody views LJ, listen to Goody's response to the question of ho how he sees LJ's form over the last few weeks (which includes a comment about his numbers). 15. Makes for a very young team. Six players under 21. Average age down quite a bit with hibberd replaced by bowey (jordon and sparrow roughly the same age) Five in their first or second year.
  16. Only one game in vic. Good result for Channels 7 and fox in terms of their coverage. It's mazing how much a difference crowds make even when watchin on TV
  17. He can spend his summers at home in Melbourne
  18. Totally agree. On all points. I'd be keen for him to remain a dee but in reality if Ben Brown gets somewhere near his best and Tmac stays at his current level then he might struggle to get regular senior game time next year. I have lot of time for Sam. Seem a ripping young fella and i'd love for him to fulfill his potential, even at another club. I'd think Gold Coast would be a really good option for him. Hopefully a team on the rise, full of talented younger players. King takes the best defender and the spotlight. Some excellent kicks and they like quick ball movement and spotting up their leading forwards, which suits Weed as he is good on the lead. And he would away from the footy fish bowl of Melbourne. And the gold coast would be pretty nice to live, train and play i would have thought
  19. Particularly if he replaces a poor kick. Good time to come into the side, that's for sure
  20. Agree on both points. He's only really done a lockdown job on powerful medium forwards like papley.
  21. True. But rankin has done sfa lately, so probably doesn't need a lock down opponent. And as I understand bowey has not done any lock down defending at Casey and was a mid as a junior.
