  1. Anyone know where I can thr numbers of all players (ie including the afl listed ones) for this game?
  2. Brown's issue wasn't intensity. It was fitness. He was dropped to get fit, did a preseason like block of about six weeks of high intensity training. Lost weight, got much fitter and came back into the side - as was always going to happen. Has maintained that fitness level and is 100% best 22 lock.
  3. That's my biggest knock on weed in a nutshell. Second efforts are seemingly not instinctive for sam, which is a big worry. I wonder if as a junior he played most of his footy as a lead up, true full forward who was a cut above and took plenty of marks out on a lead. So perhaps never really had much need for second efforts? Like all dees fans, I hope he makes it. And it is hard not think (hope?) tbat somehow the penny will drop one day as his weaknesses are more seemingly psychological in nature. But as you say he us a fair way into his career to still have to get his head in the game and play with elite intensity 100% of rhe time. He has signed a new contract, so there is no real downside for us to give him time at Casey and the ones when needed.
  4. That's exactly was i just thinking. I'm going, so looking forward to seeing some stars in action.
  5. Sure, made some mistakes, but I agree, I thought he was terrific. Again, people should actually listen to what goody says in his pressers. After the game he emphasised we are happy to make mistakes, they are part and parcel of our game plan. As goody says, we are not looking to play perfect football.
  6. He's good value i reckon. Knows his stuff, particularly drawing and trading related. He and Kane corner do a 20 min show on afl.com called the round so far, which I really like. Both are good actually. Will make for interesting viewing this week, as cornes will mo doubt have strong views on the Port game.
  7. Spargo also only had one tackle, to kozzie's six. As you say no chance he'll be dropped as he has built up a fair balance in rhe bank of goody, but 2 or 3 matches of low tackle counts and low pressure acts will eat away at that balance and give Bedford his shot.
  8. I honestly think some people still can't quite get their head around the fact that players can have very low possession numbers, and if a forward limited scoring, and still play great. This is true in spite of our coach and players taking about playing the assigned role being the key performance metric all last season. And in spite of the fact that goody continues to select players like kozzie, spargo and tmac even after stretches of low possession, no goal games. You don't need the coach to tell you what the role of such players is - it is obvious; pressure, contest and work rate. All three of those players did so much up and down the ground running last night it was insane (check out their vision on afl staystpro for evidence of that). The equivalent player at Port to spargo and kozzie was amon. How often did you see him in our forward half? How many goals did he create though his pressure? I don't think weed worked as hard as tmac, but that might be confirmation bias on my part. What he definitely did do was screen and block really well for Max and tmac. Watch tmac's goal - weed puts a great block on to give him protection to take the mark. (which by the by is why, seemingly to the frustration of some, our talls so often fly for the same ball - that and having two or three genuine talls fly for a mark in our forward line means if not marked it almost certainly comes to ground) Applying the role playing logic, it is possible goody was happy with weeds game.
  9. Tmac worked harder than weed. And weed dies himself no favours with his lack of second efforts
  10. Goody in the presser; 'I couldn't be prouder of the group' tonight DL posters: "They plsyed like rubbish'
  11. Spot the f on. I mean c'mon, that is the sort of win the great hawks sides during their premiership run and the lions in theirs strung together. They deliberately tried to suffocate the game, as did the bombers last week. Because they both clearly felt thst was their only chance of being close to competitive. Two finalists from last year start a game of football knowing they have zero chance of beating us with THEIR OWN game plan. That is the mark of a great side. And please, if I read one comment along rhe lines thst the lions will destroy us playing like that my head will explode. The goal is top 4. Percentage does not matter when you win as many games as we will this season.
  12. But won me a pineapple as I backed them to win in the 25-42 point range Swings and roundabouts
  13. I backed the dees to win in the 25 - 42 range. C'mon port
  14. Agrree. And I reckon bb would be in if we assessed Port as a greater threat and/or we weren't 3-0
  15. Oh please, why would goody bother with any subterfuge in relation to dropping Smith. I mean, it's not his mo and even if it was why would he bother with a fringe player?
  16. I watched the second half too (or much of it( and totally agree - they looked spent. Which is why I thought the crows might get up given Burgess is their fitness guy. I don't think they put the cue in the rack, but even if they were more fatigued they still should have won easily. Us dees fans have a fair bit experience with coaches losing their players. I saw some familiar signs in their loss to the hawks and crows. And even in their loss to the lions, whilst they put in a pretty good performance, they folded up pretty badly in the last quarter. Not great signs for Kenny.
  17. Damien yze was a fair player wasn't he? A forward who often kicked big bags if goals?
  18. It would be shocking if Port don't come hard. Leaving aside the threat of going down 4 zip, imagine their week living in Adelaide after last week's debacle. If they don't I reckon hinkley is gone. But even if they do come out firing, how far can a desire to crack in take them? Their defensive system is all over the shop. Alir out has an outsize importance as their defensive system is structured around him and his ability to intercept. With him out they don't have another pure interceptor to cover him (McKenzie is not bad, but more a lock down defender). And they simply don't have the height down back to cover our three genuine talls. Hopefully the umpires will call frees for the inevitable grappling and blocking they will have to resort to. They have not been able to stop teams transitioning from their defensive 50, which speaks to players not doing the work required for all team defence. Perhaps they will address that this week, but effort and application are hard things to just switch on, particularly if they didnt work hard enough in preseason to build an elite fitness base and as a result don't have the tank to play full tilt right to the end of each quarter. Their forward line is built around Dixon bringing it ground and again they don't really have someone able to play that role in his absence. Gray is a huge out - arguably still their best player (I know wines is terrific), and one of their few true match winners. Their midfield is pretty strong, but let's be honest nowhere near our level And players like rozee, georgiatis and Marshall should almost be coming into their prime, but have seemingly not taken the next step. And on top of all of that is they are a team that likes to thrive on emotion and crowd energy. Tickets sales are apparently slow so unless they are on top they may not have any crowd energy to draw on. I predict we will come out in full surge mode and look to dominate the first quarter. Maybe we will carry that surge into the second We'll get a four to five goal lead, slow the game down and hold them at arms length for the rest of the match.
  19. Doubt they feel much like a tea and biscuit before bed time.
  20. I think the concern for Brown re covid is that he was in a house for seven days with someone who had covid. If it was his young child it would be hard work to avoid getting it. A lottery really.
  21. Sorry, it's sen radio. I used to quite like Wheatley, but he [censored] me a bit now. Best way to listen to him is via podcast. If you download the sen app you can navigate to rhe recordings of his shows via the podcast button at the bottom. Or go to the sen website. His show is sliced up into the various segments, so you can just listen to what is of interest. A bonus is the ads are cut out - I find tbe ads on sen make it almost unlistenable.
  22. Yep, you can. On kayo dropping our and dl8nf weird stuff, my assumption is it related to internet connectivity issues eg someone in the house starts a video chat. Some apps and services cope better with drops in internet speed I think - perhaps more sophisticated system architecture?
