  1. aaaaahhhhh who give a toss. He is still a gun junior and there is nothing to indicate that he won't continue to dominate next year. He would be a guaranteed first round in 2012 regardless of the father son (and injury of course) and he will be a perfect foil for the young talent we are developing in the mids. The hard in and unders- McKenzie, Viney, Moloney, Jones The runners and creators- Scully, Trengove, Gysberts, Nicholson, Evans, Sylvia And then there's blokes like Grimes, Tapscott, Blease who haven't yet had the games/chance to run through the guts... I just can't wait to have him playing in 2013 in red and blue.....
  2. Addam Maric has had more than ample time to prove himself in this regard, be it at Casey or Melbourne. He is not your classic opportunist goalsneak which is what i was referring too. He is a flanker and accumulator. What you missed is we are not looking for someone who can spend time in the midfield, surely looking at our list you can sede that we have an abundance of blokes who can do that- straight off the top, two blokes who have yet to even make it into the middle are Grimes and Tapscott. I am talking about a genuine goalsneak who can sit at the feet of Jurrah, Watts, Green, Cook (hopefully) and others and snag a couple each game. That is what we sorely miss at this point in time. Real small man danger in the forward line. I am more than happy for Melbourne to become a little speculative with later picks on this type of player because of the clever strategy we have adopted through previous drafts in filling the need for mids and talls.
  3. Wow you blokes are unreal with this stuff and your knowledge of the youngsters. Thanks for at least giving us an indication of how things may pan out...... FWIW, best available this year especially with our first pick, perhaps with the disclaimer that if it is pretty much 50/50 between a couple of players as we get to our subsequent picks, lean towards the pacy small forward type who can kick goals. The small pacy crumbing forward with goal sense (a la Sidebottom, Milne, Stokes, Betts etc) is probably the next biggest hole in our list at the moment with Wonna an unknown quantity and no-one else stepping up into the role.
  4. Disagree. Any humour round here is funny given how negative the forum can be! Take it for what it is.
  5. Perhaps a more apt heading than you initially planned WJ. If we have 22 blokes who are as hard, fierce, courageous and dashing as Sean Wight then we will not only win easily, but we will do him proud. Smash those Doggies boys and give Sean one final rousing send-off!!!
  6. I still have a my photo with him as an 8 year old little demon talking with him after the last training session before the 88 grand final! Loved the way you played Sean. Thoughts to the Wight family and Big Jimma too. RIP
  7. Thanks in part to a Tom Scully thread or two.......!
  8. Yep. Nice way to fuel the fire J-Riv..... So the only possible time Scully could have signed anything is Oct last year and both he and his manager have repeatedly said that he hasn't signed anything. All that HOA stuff has been proven to be shite. So where are all these impeccable sources who've said he's signed now?
  9. Agree with all of that and add in: Good: Snuffing out every tiger challenge Watts (sorry i had to do it again) Jordie on Cotchin Bad: Turnovers in the corridor Dustin who??? Ugly: Richmond supporters
  10. Dogs have a lot of quick medium small blokes. With another 6 day break fresh legs are crucial. The only question about Tapscott would be the amount of footy he has missed- 5 weeks. They might need to give him 1 at Casey first. In: Blease, Possibly Tapscott or Dunn Out: MacDonald, Possibly Morton
  11. Disagree. Reiwoldt gets Frawley (Will match him body on body and can exploit him on the rebound) Garland gets Vickery McKenzie on Cotchin Martin v Beamer in the middle and if he goes forward then someone like Jones can take him (would love to have seen Bull Tapscott take him however...) Morton to take Deledio and wear him like a glove. That shuts down most of their play makers then and i will back the rest of our team to destroy them...
  12. I think you would find that it would be a case of: Frawley for Reiwoldt Garland for Vickery McDonald/Rivers for Miller if he plays
  13. On this season alone he is right. We have been very much down hill skiers. That is what the consistency challenge is all about. Our average winning margin is over 10 goals. But our average losing margin is also somewhere around 40-50 points i believe which is terrible. When the gap closes between our best and worst and we become consistent with our effort then opinions will change. Until then, be prepared to keep hearing it...
  14. I doubt there is as much physical change left in him as opposed to Scully, Trengove, Morabito, Gysberts, Fyfe, Bastinac, Melksham et al. He is certainly going fantastic at the moment, but in the next 10 years, who knows. Similar in the way that Hodge, Ball and Judd get compared i believe... If all three of Scully, Trengove and Martin became premiership players (along with Gysberts and Tapscott too of course) then i'm sure we'd all be pretty happy...
  15. Look it wasn't directed solely at you, I just thought I'd try to bring a bit of reality back into this forum so people stop getting so consumed by this one thing and perhaps can all take a collective breath. Jimmy and co have done a fantastic job steadying our ship and building for the future. We have all trusted him to do it right and he has. Perhaps we should be trusting the club again that they are handling everything right, just not in the public domain... A little more faith in the club, a little less drama on demonland...
  16. Then you have lost it Rangey... JUST READ THIS and you will realise how wrong you are. I love your passion for your club. I share a similar passion, but i also have a grip on reality. I suggest you and many others around here get a grip.
  17. Bailey press conference right at the end he is asked about Garland and Bailey said he should be right for next week. He just jarred it more than anything else and they decided that they had the sub there anyway so to rest Garland and use the sub. He didn't seem real concerned, just said it is a case of see how he pulls up in the next 24 hours...
  18. Because i value your input and would hate for it to cease......... Yeah, i was just posing the question again. It is as rhetorical as your reply was...
  19. ......rrrrrrrright...
  20. We all know that the Trengove decision was arrived at purely around the concussion issue. That being the case, Koschitzke should get the same penalty. The other sling tackle in the game (i can't remember who it was) will not be penalised because there was no injury or concussion to the player tackled.
  21. Yep. Sums it up perfectly Robbie. YOU don't have the patience. Suggest you try to find some otherwise the old tickedr might just give out before years end with all the stressing you are doing about something over which you have absolutely no control. How do you know he isn't Robbie? Perhaps he hasn't even spoken to GWS, has no intention too, wants to focus on his football, wants to stay in Melbourne and wants to play with the MFC. The truth is that NO-ONE except Tom himself knows. Then again- maybe he honestly doesn't know yet. And it will be people just like you that would drive him away with your incessant badgering.....
  22. Yep. This post demonstrates that this thread has become ridiculous and that many have lost their minds because they can't stand not knowing for certain what is happening. The club will be working diligently on this issue in the background on both sides of the stay or go equation. If these "reliable sources are so good", then name them! Or perhaps they aren't so reliable and are nothing more than normal people like you and me who have absolutely NFI about the situation, but need to act as if they know something for their own self importance. Until people name these sources so that then their inside information can be put to the test, I suggest the majority round here stop paying them any attention and continuing along the wild and inaccurate speculation ride.
  23. Yeah i don't like Dick either. I much prefer Geelong...
  24. Stop that. Stop that right now. Don't post the actual words Tom spoke. They have no meaning. They're lies, all lies. He's a liar. Lies........... His best friend's uncle who is a close associate of Gubby Allen's best mate signed a Heads of Agreement on Tom's behalf in 2010 for a million a season..... Oh wait, hang on a second, i just summed up this thread again....
  25. Depends on where you think our first round pick will fall this year and next. Say we finish 9-10 this year. With all the GWS draft concessions this year that would equate roughly to pick 15-16 at the earliest. In an uncompromised draft the following year, banking on finishing somewhere around 6-8 that would equate to the first pick being somewhere around 11-13. A few positions can be a big difference in a draft. So not a monumental waste at all, given that GWS will have already severley drained this years talent pool of both 17 year olds and the glut of early picks. It is more likely that the talent pool will be larger in 2012 thus making it a smarter decision to offload this years first round pick rather than next years...
