  1. You say ruthless, yet they hang on to Newton who may well be a big body, possibly strong but yet to display any heart at all for a contest nor Footy smartshe has had what. 3 or is it 4 years to show something, anything at all yet other than one mark in a dead rubber, or worse, he has shown zilch!!!! IMVHO McNamara though smaller is 100 times smarter and shows 1000 times more heart and endeavor. I would far prefer Tom to be fighting for my life than MN.
  2. WTH has Maric ever done to suggest that he is underrated? Agree re Bate, who I admit to rating very highly a couple of years ago. Not convinced one way nor the other re an uninjured Martin used as a defender. Still see a possible upside but definitely needsvto stake a claim 2011.
  3. Rhys Who-ley??? Was he a 3 or 4 year rookie, or did it just seem that long?
  4. You have to get the pill before you can kick it!!! Definitely "unproven" in my book.
  5. Leigh Newton was going to be THE answer at CHF after his great debut - unfortunately I think it was OP that killed his career and our pleasure. Michael Newton sadly just doesn't have the ticker.
  6. Sure hope that all who saw him at junior level remain excited when he eventually debuts in the mighty R&B. But seriously he must be regarded as a "yet to be assesed" at AFL. Similar to Tappscott.
  7. So he "shone" in a game without any real meaning!? Who would he displace from the tight knit strong hearted defence? Sure some have suggested that a stint in defence may help a struggler gain confidence, but pity help us if he goes into defence for this reason in a "real" match 2011 or beyond, and that includes Wizzard, Ansett or whatever Cup Vlad choses to call it in 2011. He has had plenty of opportunities to establish himself in a developing young side over what, 4 years - he has not grasped those opportunities for whatever reason - skill and natural ability, talent, heart, commitment, G&D, injury - which of those doesn't really matter. I sure as hell hope he does not ever again keep a young progressing player out of our team, nor off our list. I could classify him as "depth" when feeling incredibly charitable and good hearted only.
  8. He has far far more to offer than the four rookied this year - Newton, Meesen ("special reasons" for both) and Hughes and WhoHealy. I would be very disapppointed were he to just drift off into the ether.
  9. Please read the post header. Whatever Danny Hughes is or may be or could be or may hope to be, it is NOT a KPP Forward!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Have I missed some actual news - is Newton, he who proved time and time again his great great uncle's theory of gravity by falling at every hurdle, still listed? Heaven forbid.
  11. I was going to say then why the hell did Meesen and Newton get rookied this year?? I know part related to contract, but sure as hell neither offered any quality at all.
  12. Strong overhead - that then rules out our PJ.
  13. The manoeuvrability of Bate The heart and aggression of Newton The awareness of ............ nobody and nothing! Very disappointing
  14. I was disappointed when Liam went from 48 to 24 - thought that he may be only half the player he was before, but other than his injury he continues to excite.
  15. He is a real enigma to me. Doesn't in any way look a marking forward, but has done the job magnificently when available. I guess a question is where does he fit in if all of Jurrah, Watts, Dunn, Green, Davey, Wona are fit and in form, and even Bate were to apply himself and realise his potential. Would be a nice dilema for selectors.
  16. Jordie has become one of my absolute favourites. I just love his attitude and his attack on the ball, and his tackling is out of this world. Not just the number of tackles, but the quality of them - he makes them hurt.
  17. I am surprised that there has been little if any comment on the first trade in this post. Were we to get A(nother) Davey for Maric surely we would grab it with both hands. If not IMO Maric will probably just be delisted.
  18. He makes Michael Newton look switched on. LOL We need to move on / eschew any player who will not commit 100% all the time.
  19. Ballarat now by 34. Third quarter halfway The orange maggots totally changed momentum in the second with an absolute clanger decision mark to NB and a clearly wrong "no goal" after Bennell kicked a nice goal.. Twomreal game changers. Now it is just a cakewalk.. pS make that 40
  20. Bate will have to learn a few more tricks, and learn to recover and turn quicker than USS Enterprise. I am sure he does have talent, but others do as well as the other basic attribute. If he can sometime force his way into this team he will be doing very well. But back to the topic - I agree that this was Dunn's best game - he seems to relish the contest, and has learned to be fully accountable for his defender. Are there stats - indeed can there be - on who is on which rebounding defender and how they do. He has shut down a few this season - the much criticised (including by me) experiment as a tagger have given him the confidence to do this.
  21. I would have thought that the main thought in "resting" Trengove vs Cats was the fact that they were absolutely physically drained and exhausted after the visit to the tropics the weekend before, and not the fact that they were playing against a terrific midfield. To withdraw them vs Hawks would be just plain molly coddling not due to exhaustion but due to intimidation. After all, they played vs Hawks round 1 - sure they were "beaten up" mainly mentally, but they survived and hopefully have learned from the experience. Had they been physically up to it I am sure they would have played vs Geelong to learn from it.
  22. Did a bloody good job today. One of our best. Who will make way for Moloney next week if he is up to it??
