Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 5
monoccular replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jordan McMahon? That would be double the number of quarters that our entire team played last week ? -
Neither Weed nor Lever should be playing with someone tutoring them. Weed should not play until he is ready to stand on his own two feet, then probably as a deep forward with ruck duties. I remain optimistic about him. As for Tom, I like him as a CHF with huge endurance and strength. Also a very handy ruck option. As an aside, just a passing thought - could Weed benefit from time at CHB (at Casey). Our most succesful FF started as a CHB.

Definitely not flat track bullies since we haven’t been able to bully anyone, even Kangaroos or Bears.

Some of these play on calls are just ludicrous And on the other side of the argument, how can Frankenstein be allowed to play on whilst the umpire is setting the mark not allowing the man on the mark to stop him?
-
Sounds a good ploy. At least worth a try. But even as it stands, if the shepherding player is over 5 meters from the ball he should be penalized, as happens is some marking contests (again inconsistency umpired).
-
Are you suggesting that Lever May be asked to play an accountable defensive rôle? That would be interesting. Do you have any inside knowledge or is it the understandable pessimism resultant upon years of following MFC?
-
Can someone please tell me when he has made even one successful tactical move from the box in a match? To mee it seems like stubbornness - ND showed the same traits much of the time. Or maybe arrogance - "I cant be wrong, surely" * certainly should but would remains to be seen # CAN - yet to be proven IMO
-
Redleg - keep a close eye on the 'jobs vacant' an when the MFC defensive coach position comes up please take it. Use this posting as your reference. Pity the current incumbent (and the defensive on field 'leaders') cant see something so blatantly obvious.
-
I hope you aren't suggesting that we redraft the narcissist. :-(((((

So, do we rejig our defence completely to fit in a new player, or do we rejig the player to fit our defence? Agree that there appears to be very little cohesion within the unit. Agree something needs to change - currently it is a sieve.

Werribee Tigers v Casey Scorpions - VFL Round 2

, Yet it was they who had a two man bench most of the second half. Is Missen really performing as high performance guru (or whatever his title) ..... he has had the job for quite a few years now. I gave him some leeway early as he was dealt a pretty poor hands, but by now one would expect a lot more ‘fitness’ and endurance. Once again, like the preseason camp, maybe some of the guys don’t really want to put in the hard yards. ? -
MFC will not make the 8 in 2018 - Growing a backbone.

Reaction by whom, chook? Certainly from supporters, but it definitely remains to be seen whether there will be any “ferocious reaction” by the coaching staff, the selectors or the players. Will have to revisit the question on Anzac Day. Hope the reaction by those who can make a difference (coaches and players) is thermonuclear but won’t hold my breath. Was planning on going Anzac Eve but honestly so disheartened after Sunday that I am not so sure I will. As others have said, this mob has lost my trust in a big way - yet again? -
IMO the one and only defender who has been at all consistent this season, 4 games plus Ansett Cup (or whatever) in is the much maligned Oscar McDonald. Is that due to Lever unbalancing the group?
-
The Hawks managed that pretty well actually. And they don't handle the supporters positivity too well in the lead up to critical games like C'wood last year, and Hawks Sunday. Just get so far ahead of themselves. I reckon at quarter time they were counting their winning margin, at least in their minds. Cannot tolerate the man, but he is spot on on that one. They lost my trust yet again round 23 2017, and any minimum trust they may have started to regain has completely vanished after Sunday. Mentally strong .... what is that???
-
Was under the (mis)impression that there was a 5 meter no go zone around the man on the mark. As I recall we tried it a few times and the ball was called back.
-
Maybe after today one could say the same for Goodwin and MFC players Trouble is that Goodwin doesn’t appear to have sufficient game day ‘intelligence’ to churn effectively.

Roos: "They’re so easy to score against"
monoccular replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe the players don’t like playing in the rain, or playing under the pump, just like they don’t like tough preseason camps. Sadly, it is showing. Not enough dedication. -

So, is Roos suggesting that he tutored the wrong successor, or that he tutored the right successor wrongly? -
How could any Dees fan feel that way ?? Shows that four heads are not better than two, not better than one for that matter.

Has the Weed been doing any ruck work? How has he been up forward in these conditions? -
So when will the "integrity board" start their investigation? LOL

I don't think we were ever quite that bad. And just glancing briefly at the GW$ Freo game - the Freo skills look about as good as ours were 4 or 5 yers ago.
