Who do we realistically target for a trade?
monoccular replied to Dee1987's topic in Melbourne Demons
Being publicly quiet hasn’t harmed us over recent years. Yeah. Sure. Jesse must just be itching to play in a Ross Lyon forward line ??? -
Even IF that email is all he does in his off field leadership rôle he has done well And his steadying influence on the field is tight situations is inestimable (though I have no doubt that a few of those here who choose to highlight every negative and see none of the positives will disagree).

It is a big final. Best option on current form would seem to be Frostbite from the outset. Plus of course ensuring that the ball never gets anywhere near Hawkins forward of centre. ADDENDUM: Frostbite came from bloody autocorrect, but may be appropriate nonetheless.

And to think that he was delisted, and but for Roos’ faith in Nev’s potential we could have lost him forever. ? As an aside does anyone have any updates on his mentoring of Dion Johnston? He looked likely to be another lost soul but I gather had at least begun (prior to injury) to be being an unsuccessful small forward perhaps reinvented as a small defender, as was Nev himself.

For a very welcome change, this is an enormously difficult call. For me though I find Clarrie absolutely magical: THE quickest thinker and THE best vision I can recall at any time from any player from any team. Takes the breath away some of the ridiculous stuff he pulls off. But it is unfair to the likes of Max, Nev, Angus, and Jonesy for his perseverance .... and many more.

Are you referring to Darcy Moore? Any guy who can only ruck would become very frustrated living in Max’s long shadow. -
Gradually working my way through the replay, I am more and more impressed by some of the little things (are these the so called one percenters?) with knock ons, bullocking, shepherding and also his ruck work. Seeing grandpa (the ‘great enemy’ of the late 1950s) and dad in the crowd supporting him made me, hopefully not getting too far ahead of myself, dream of Sam playing the game of his life, his true “breakout game”, being pivotal in an upset win against Collingwood. Go Dees. Go Sam.

Agree. So much confidence, strength and dash on Sunday, and his disposal, general awareness and use of options massively improved. Bring on Hawkins. PS Oscar’s awareness and disposal also much improved. I think working as a defensive unit with confidence in one another is working wonders. Where does Lever fit in? Nice dilemma for the match committee.

Water under bridge. ? over spilled ?. We now have the likes of Oliver who we may well have not got had we won a game or two more at that time .... just enjoy what we have now.

IMVHO one shouldn’t call anyone who was drafted and having the courage to even go on to an AFL field a spud. He had performed at senior SANFL level in finals. Sure he didn’t turn out like we had hoped, but he got further than (almost) anyone who posts here. And, by the way, Neeld wasn’t the list manager, for all his many faults, so it was not he who drafted him.

Max Gawn wins AFL Coaches Association Champion Award
monoccular replied to Gorgoroth's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well done Big Max Now bring on the real stuff -
Yes, but what did he [Hird] take, given his coaching mantra "whatever we take", to get over it? And any updates on Kent's injury?
-
IF and only IF Jesse wanted to go to WA, then maybe yes. He was only playing against PRancer that night if I recall. Gave him an absolute bath. Now wouldn't that be an irony, Gaff AND Andrew Brayshaw playing together at the Dees Maybe the original signed edition of "Exciting Footy Tactics" by Ross Lyon?

Did anything else of interest to us happen that year?

Changes v Geelong - Elimination Final
monoccular replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
What a delicious dilemma though. I am sure they can arrange rotations / forward stints / bench time to keep them out of each other’s way. VDB!!?? The beast? And as far as Kent’s propensity for injury goes, what he suffered this week wasn’t in that category. Pure impact. Could happen to anyone unlucky enough to be there at the time. -

And don’t forget the absence of depth in the cesspit from which maggots grow too. -

Care and interest factor? About as much as Western Sydney’s community interest in GW$$, or of SEQ community interest in GC$$. As pointed out above, fat old has beens and a few faux celebrities running around pushing their agendas - not my idea of fun. -
Well done Ox Love your passion When he is back on his feet can you please have a few quiet works with Jesse about his set shot goal kicking routine GO DEES
-
?. I rather compare him to a gazelle Ancient history. Time to move forward, only change what can be changed, and enjoy the finals.
-
Well said, Clint. I did notice that he sometimes jabs at shirt passes a bit and some don’t reach their target, but from what I saw of today’s game he appeared much more confident and part of the team attack.

Changes v Geelong - Elimination Final
monoccular replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
? ? - is that the [censored] word? Thought for a moment that autocorrect had taken over ... humanity not humility, but maybe both? ?can’t afford to play anyone in a final who chooses when and if to chase and tackle. -
You forget the Normie .... or has Dasher Frost locked that one in (not that anyone here would ever dream of getting ahead of themselves) ?
