  1. Kicking, apparently, cannot be fixed at least at MFC. ? But I agree 100% re the importance of getting the ball. I remember so well the absolute swooning over the likes of Strauss, Maric and even Cale who were “elite users of the ball”: trouble was they rarely ever got their hands on it. ???
  2. By bored do you mean us spectators who are bored with our inability to convert inside 50s? Unfortunately I suspect it will take a lot longer than one week to correct and rejig all of this.
  3. Superunknown - I don’t know which course you play, but is there a paddock adjacent to your fairways? Is your standard shot a hook or a slice? Maybe it is, sadly, because we are far from being at elite level? ??
  4. Even if not on the entire society, certainly the gambling industry has the AFL by the balls. I find it difficult to watch games when their advertisements are rammed down your throat at every opportunity Just waiting for Gill’s hypocritical “we don’t support gambling” spin / statement. I am sure he would be the beneficiary of some Christian charity though I doubt it will be within his jurisdiction. And please remind me for whom did the MRO play?
  5. I have been on about that for years. As I understand we did have one (or maybe two) but ND didn't think we needed one and they were sacked. Maybe if we did have one when Liam Jurrah was struggling things may have turned out differently? I also understand that at least some other clubs do have these on their staff, though I am not sure which clubs these are. It would be interesting if those that do are the successful ones.
  6. No way. And, not tanking, but as others have said the priorities must be: Tweaking game plan to get off to a flying start 2020 Allowing all those who are not >90% fit to rest, repair and regenerate. NB Tom McDonald. These are needed to be 100% fit and ready for 2020 "Getting games in" to the up and coming, at the expense of the known and ending
  7. Like another thing we haven’t heard about but which stands out like ? ?; isTom’s problem still his foot or is he in some sort of dark place?
  8. We need some mids with a bit of vision and a modicum of delivery skills.
  9. Because, D3, we just cannot afford anyone who "chooses their contests" as Jeffy did more than once v Adelaide. Had he taken his turn when he needed to we would have won that game. Cost us far more than Weed's uncharacteristic miskick at the death knell that so many talk about.
  10. Pedantic, I know, but using t.he word efficiency in the context of this current MFC mob is just so inappropriate.
  11. Tom is far from right, either / or physically / mentally and should be given a few weeks off to refresh his body and mind. Garlett and Spargo must never be in the same side again - Garlett "choses his contests" to put it as politely as I can, and Spargo at least may be part of the future so I would retain him (unless someone pushed hard enough at Casey to oust them both). Lockhart? Dunkley too soon? ANB? Bull Smith for Tom, and / or Preuss? Any news on Frost's concussion? And Fritsch is NOT a defender, but may be a decent wing / forward.
  12. Did you learn about tenses in primary school English? "is losing" should be "has (long) lost" the plot I am sure the brilliant custodians of our (once) great game will make a few more inevitable rule changes come year's end to address that. :-) What an absolute load of çr@p - I even am starting to feel a little empathy of this Colonwood fan. (Now I will have to attend an exorcism). And as for the police officer, he skipped English classes too - barracking too loudly, not too loud.
  13. Clearly there is something very major going on be it physical or psychological He heeds to be ‘managed’ and shame on those calling him a dud or a spud. If the club doesn’t know then they should employ someone competent who can diagnose the problem, and fix it. He IS a far far better player than he has been this year.
  14. Can’t kick for goal, can’t expect to win PS And field kicking too.
  15. No explanation from the club. IF and I emphasise IF it is a 'mental health issue' could this also be at least part of the explanation for his big brother's poor season? Just asking. Backlines of any calibre would struggle with the lack of midfield and high forward defensive pressure we have displayed this year. Ball bombs forward, cleared with a chain of often uncontested possessions and bang to a leading opposition forward. All the surviving defenders (from our best 22) would be struggling.
  16. He will need to have a plan for Oliver, but if Billy plays he could allow things to pan out as they occur.
  17. dieter, I had anticipated that Hemmingway would have beaten me to the punch.
  18. Multiple factors, but injuries are a big one. And not just injury numbers but to which players, especially our brittle defence. Add in the loss of Hogan, for which we anticipated Tom McDonald continuing his stellar form from 2017-2018 offsetting and we are where we are. Whether we can put Tom's decline down to injury (of some as yet unspecified nature) or some other psychological factor I have no idea. But, had Tom played as he had the previous 2 years, Weed would almost certainly have come on a lot faster than he ha and our forward line would have far better structure.
  19. So is he actually Andrew Dunkley's father (or perhaps grandfather) and not his son? Wordsworth's poem has always confused me but this may be the explanation? My Heart Leaps Up When I Behold - William Wordsworth (1802) My heart leaps up when I behold A rainbow in the sky: So was it when my life began; So is it now I am a man; So be it when I shall grow old, Or let me die! The Child is father of the Man; And I could wish my days to be Bound each to each by natural piety.
  20. BBO - after the events of this weekend I am happy that you didn't use the word f-logging. You may get a suspension by PC Gillon.
  21. By all account s he played a cracker for Casey today. Hope he can, at an appropriate time, take the next step. Well done.
  22. If it were May or Lewis they would be cited for striking and offered 3 with an early guilty plea. ?
  23. OMG. Is [censored] now auto censored? The world has gone PC mad! What about the old saying about flogging a dead horse? Is that still ok?
  24. I read that he called him a "bald [censored]" ... so speaking the truth is now an ejecting offence in Gill's PC AFL. Enough! And Adelaide overran another team with a big lead in the last quarter! Two weeks in a row, Have they been swabbed?
  25. One vital piece in the whole jigsaw puzzle is to determine what really has gone wrong with Tom McDonald this year, and is whatever the problem may be is it remedial?
