  1. Haven't been able to listen to it yet, but here is the link to his interview with Neil Mitchell this morning: http://www.3aw.com.au/blogs/neil-mitchell-blog/humble-stynes-keeps-fighting/20111102-1muxo.html
  2. Bit strong some of the comments on Leon. He's overcome some major deficiencies to become a very good player and all-Australian. Deserves more than that. Melbourne won't go after him, nor are we at the stage of topping up with 30 year olds, but I am not sure I subscribe to 'stunting development' of others. If you're not good enough, you play for Casey and if contending at all, Leon would be handy coming out of defence. Kick outs have been like extracting teeth for years, Leon had an efficiency of 100% for most of the year. We need to develop our own 'Leon', but the guy can play, and could even play in our midfield.
  3. We've spent five years trying to get rid of average players (with a few more to come). Why did you say this?
  4. We used to have the Ox in the forward line. Damn good forward 50 throw in ruckman.
  5. Definate key forward with Martin to CHB. River too small to take the position and decision making / kicking is rubbish. Martin is athletic and powerful and would be well suited to defence. The extra big body we need to help out chip. Rivers is not key position.
  6. For lack of other options and to fill a need I think we've made the mistake of putting Sylvia in the middle for too long. He would be a luxury on a forward flank, or even deep with the occasional burst in the middle. Great hands, great kick. Not a natural midfielder.
  7. Feel a bit underwhelmed also. But no doubt Neeld is an astute smart man. Has some good experience at a lot of levels and I guess ticks alot of boxes. But does he evoke any fear, because I honeslty think we need a bit of that. As does duck:
  8. Would be good. Can't stand him though. Something grubby about him.
  9. Love it. A positive from the scully saga is the increased wit around this place.
  10. It seems he went up to syndey and never came back. I highly doubt he had the guts to address the players and Jimmy. Going to the script, it was probably a phone call from his management. A weight has been lifted the MFC no doubt. Glad it's over. Tapscott straight off the square and bury him.
  11. Tom "Benedict Arnold" Scully...dark day indeed, but one which will hopefully be a turning point and an end to mediocrity. I certainly feel like a demon, and would to shove my pitch fork...
  12. Perhaps we can have Jonno Patton if we bow down and be quiet...
  13. Yep, certainly heresay. But thought I'd pass it on. However, I am sure amongst the thousands of posts, one demonlander will have had it right and will claim it.
  14. Our conversation was over several beers in the Percy Beams bar. He mentioned Power, not sure how long ago he pre-empted this. Who knows, the deal could've been in place since October
  15. Caught up with my mate at the footy last night. He's very good family friends with a GWS development coach (I've been trying to get any inide info all year). My mate's house sitting for him in Melbourne, and he's asked a few times for me but he's given nothing. However, last night my mate said that Scully is gone and the deal is done. He also mentioned the Brogan / Power stuff a while ago. He also said that Dean Bailey, now working with the Calder Cannons as a "special" finals coach apparently, said that while Tom is a really nice, good kid he is gone.. I suspect that when they pay you a salary of over a million a year they can choose when to announce it. It seems the wait is PR. Wait and see I guess, but I think we all know what's coming. Just passing it on.
  16. We're getting reamed by a 20 year old and our 150 year old (and some) club is getting is now an unwitting participant in a GWS PR exercise, which is made worse by the fact the exercise is poaching one of the cornestones of our rebuild and planned ascent up the ladder. Sever all ties Melbourne and take back some control. Tom 'Benedict Arnold' Scully...
  17. I believe Scully is gone, but interesting to see Blease (his inseperable best mate) in The Age today respond to the question, "which young player from your club will catch peoples' eyes next year". his answer: "Tom Scully" Sadly, it looks like he'll be catching eyes in another jumper.
  18. Me either. The whole thing stinks. Just hurry up Tom, but I firmly believe he will be taking his talents to breakfast point.
  19. Watching the press conference now. Ward looks unconfortable. Sold his soul and listening to the drivel Sheedy is saying makes it worse. I dont think I can watch Scully in that position.
  20. I will, one Melbourne premiership is worth 10 of any club. I'll wait...You're right, this is some reflection on Melbourne. I don't think we've blown oout of the water by asking price alone.
  21. I deliberately left that little surprise.
  22. http://www.theroar.com.au/2011/08/23/four-keys-to-melbourne-demons-improvement/ One of the worst I've read. When your down, so is the media.
  23. I just don't get the enthusiasm for Dean Laidley. Supposedly a good tactician, but poor communicator. Made a prelim with north, but just didn't seem the calibre of top coach and was let go. Since then, he's been coaching via skype to the basket case of the league. IF Laidly fits like a glove because he likes our list, then a lot of coaches do. Paarrleease, if anyone got on AFL 360 and said that we'd love them. Not sure if he's been mentioned much, but I like Ken Hinkley. Wants to be a senior coach; major part of Geelong's success with Bomber; been at GC since the beginning as senior assistant so has worked with developing kids and has premiership experience. I'd say that fits far more than Laidley. I am not sure I agree with the notion that we need a past coach. It's a very restrictive pool. Malthouse and Clarkson won't be coaching Melbourne, so we're left with Craig, Laidley, Eade etc. If someone like Clarkson, Malthouse etc was available, then yes, but there's some damn good assistants raring to go and would love to get stuck into Melbourne. Anyway, my 2c.
