  1. Should be the coach saying that, not the president as much as Jimmy means to everyone. The club has clearly seen the omission of a public bake and Jimmy has stood up to fill the void. Maybe just me, but I would've liked to see that come from Bails and it should've come automatically. I doubt Parkin, Matthews, Malthouse would be able to contain their rage if they coached during that second half. That said, I wrote a blog that mentionined Bailey being calm and collected was a positive. Maybe I should read it again..http://wmth.wordpress.com/2010/05/05/reaping-rewards-of-the-rebuild/
  2. When Jordan McMahon kicked truly
  3. Where on earth is Jack Trengove? Would've expected him to be playing in Friday's dress reheasal - will be a key this year...The article on the MFC website doesn't say anything about his whereabouts either...not injured, an inclusion, omission or resting.
  4. For what it's worth, I am jumping on the sentiment that 'why have a press conference unless there is (good) news to tell'. It does seem convenient that his management are meeting the dees (not to talk about Scully of course) and there is a press conference pending. I am being positive for now. Too much will be read into a nothing press conference and I would personally feel let down as a supporter if he simply said 'I am waiting until the end of the year, cool your jets peoples'. That would indicate to me he doesn't feel overly passionate about the club and / or believe in the direction we are headed (cue Jack Trengove and most of our list). You can say he didn't choose to play at MFC and all the rest, but either did the rest and that goes for all those who are out of contract and said I bleed [insert jumper colours]... You can defend the big choice he has to make, but alot of others will have said no to GWS in similar circumstances. I don't see this as a normal job decision, this is a club (my work isn't called a club) and Australian sport which, for now, still has some integrity and loyalty attached to player movement - unlike the US and EPL etc...$$ This is ugly and if he continues to hold off then it can only impact our season. It impacted Geelong and they are a multiple premiership side. I feel Melbourne is still at the stage where everything has to go right for us to play finals i.e no major injuries, no umpires in pink and no media circus (it's selfish and I dont like it, I don't think Tom likes it either).
  5. Terrible last night, overused the ball in 2008 esq fashion, slow, beatean at the contest and the ball didn't even bounce our way. Was hoping to see something more promising from Watts last night. Brain fades still there...However, I am going to remain calm. NAB cup and all. Hopefully just Bailey experimenting, but don't mess with Green - play him up forward, and deep. He may want the captain up the ground a bit for presence, but it helps with our structure so much. Push Watts and Jurrah up the ground. Green has probably always been a natural forward. Not worried about Jones - very rusty. Moloney - will always have knocks on his game and never looks good without outside help. Bennell - get him out of defence (or at least deep). I think forwards enjoy playing on him. Like him up forward. Davey - 2008 esq to have him on back flank (defensive). Wing, drifting forward for him. Grimes - the general. MacDonald, Warnock should be embarrased by watching his effort. Maric - look forward to seeing him round 1. Will play. Jamar - very rusty. Jake the snake - Gumby, but he could be ok one day. Bate - what are you? needs to be leading hard. Maybe worth a burst in the middle. Watts - just take the first option (goes for everyone). Warnock - can defend, but don't let him make a decision. Strauss - 1st XVIII Scotch. Trengove - A Deelightful player. Overall, midfield simply wasn't clean enough. Too rusty, fumbles. too much pressure on defence, al la 2008 and fowards were starved. Ok when we got it down there. Hopefully this doesn't start some sort of posting craze, but all the threads on the "S" word topic are closed. Looks like Scully will be back next week (needed his pace last night) and perhaps for a while longer yet at the dees??? Mark Stevens' Twitter: Scully should play next week. If he does, is likely to break silence in lead up to game with "all-in" press conference. Good call by Dees.
  6. Relax - for now: Tom Scully, the man of the month, didn't train for Dees in Inverloch today. Minor knee soreness ... Did weights ... On track to play r2 nab. From Mark Stevens' Twitter, who went with the boys to Inverloch.

    MFC Blog

Resident journalist again. Another MFC piece has been added to the blog roll (wmth.wordpress.com). Perhaps more venting after the recent performances. Nevertheless, please add your comments and thank you to those who have left them previously. WMTH
  8. Hello again, I've added another piece to my blog (http://wmth.wordpress.com/) for those who are interested. Not MFC related, but something nonetheless. Thanks to those who have commented in the past, keep them coming! WMTH
  9. Thanks very much for the advice. I am looking to post the URL wherever I can, so ill make sure i do that. I'll write a few more as the season progresses, and hopefully develop it somewhat. If there are any blogging / online pros out there I'd love some advice on how to improve things. I am learning as I go... Really enjoying what I'm seeing from the Dees this year, good times ahead im sure. WMTH
  10. Hello everyone, I've been a follower of this site for quite a while, and feel i should get involved. I am a young journalist with a couple of years experience with East Gippsland News. I've also had some placement work at the Herald Sun, Geelong Advertiser and Radio 3AW. I am now back in Melbourne to finish Uni and GET A JOB! I hope I am not being too presumptuous, but I've recently started a blog (http://wmth.wordpress.com/) and just made a post about the Dees. If anyone is going to read it, it's passionate Demon supporters such as yourself. Selfish reasons i know, but i would love people to post comments etc and get the ball rolling. The site is certainly in its infancy, but you've got to start somewhere and it's becoming more favorable for journos - especially ones looking for a job - to have a blog. Thanks in advance, WMTH
