As Henry Ford said "..History is more or less bunk..." Now if this statistical genius understood what he was quoting, and understood stats that are not necessarily basedon the same premise, condtions, etc are generally meaningless with regards to predictions. This year is not like any other year let alone the last 8, due to the non-existent pre-finals bye and the pre- GF bye unique to 2021. This renders all recent history meaningless. For the dim-witted as an example I will note as follows: For the past 16 years (a good sample size) the QF winners go on to win their PF 28 times out of 32 or 88% of games. Yet this year only 1 of the 2 QF winners won their PF, (the Dees) , thus a rate of 50% chance. Port Power had an 88% chance of winning, and given the travel of the Dogs and home ground advantage should have had probably a 95% chance - but they lost. Due to the whole Bye discontinuity in the football universe. Possibly why Wines showed such dissappointment tonight not making the GF Get it Swamp boy? I'm not on Twitter so I suppose he'll have to just get this by osmosis or something.

This is truly a shocking stat. By his speech Wines would trade places with Oliver for a GF spot in a heartbeat.

29 years since a non-midfielder won it. But I'd argue I would have S. May in our team ahead of any of the 30 or so midfield vote winners from other teams. May will deliver a flag, the others just deliver lots of stats.

In our last big showing in 2018 when Angus came 3rd, for interest I looked at Clarries performance that year. 13 Votes in 6 games, only 2 times 3 Votes. Look how far he's come in this period. Fantastic effort and just rewards this week. And now 29 years since a non-midfielder won it, and even that was a ruckman - scott wynd

Tracs oufit was the winner. Sartorial excellence if ever i saw it.
  6. The palyers don't select the teams. Coaches do. Case rested.
  7. And the lowest game time of the entire doggies list last match. Understandable in the circumstnaces, but I smell an opportunity.
  8. And they're rarely junk time goals either. e.g. last week. Kicked when the heat was on, including set ups.
  9. Absolutely Faulty. Given taylors track record, this isn't soem random thought bubble. Fascinating to watch. Also fascinating will be watching Cerra's presser outlining why he chose the Blues over the destination club (both performance and culturally), the Dees. If he does.
  10. In Taylor we trust - but please not at the expense of the culture and cameraderie of the group. (a la Woey)
  11. At last someone has spelt it out fro what it is. A media discussion angle to fill space. Doggies are 1 game in 21 days by the same standrads touted. We have the leading fittness and conditoning team. That will address any issues we have re fitness or hardness.
  12. That was an amzing statement on Footy CLassifed by Ross last week. From someone of his calibre. His stocks aren't really rising at the minute Yet the bleeding obvious was what actually happened. Lloydy stuck with the Dees nevertheless in that exchange.
  13. There has been a reasonable number of complaints on here about media analysis, game callers etc. From myself and many others. The AFL media Association has just announced Daisy Pearce as the winner of the 2021 Best Opinion/Analyst Award. Justly deserved and how good is that.
  14. So you know him personally do you?
  15. Each game they play I see Tmac and BBrwon as a natural and complimentary duo. Bot with different characteristics.
  16. Does Ross have the mathematics behind his exponential prediction? Does he know how this differs from say linear increase...... Sheeesh.

Great work again by Jason taylor. Like James Jordan, from Day 1 he looks like he belongs. Huge successful era coming up - if not already arrived and we just don't know it yet.

Port beat the swans and GWS in 2021 - no other finalists (i don't count the marvel win against the dogs - it was as good as a draw.) The Port season had an easy draw and they were the most underwhelming 2nd place team in history. They have been grossly over-rated as was the Dogs win last week against them. The Dogs as a consequence are the most over-hyped GF participant. They are not the Bombers in 2000, Hawks in 2013-2015 , not Lions in 2002 - 2003. The Dees are. That's fine of course, its all a matter of opinion. I still rate the cats and they were crushed by " the hottest team ' ever, according to Isaac Smith. The media can write the sob story of the Doggies travails afterwards.

He gave them excellent service which is ore than you can say for many of them. We got Ed Langdon - winners!
  20. Nice call here. As a committed Dee I once had the pleaseure of sitting in the corporate room at a Dees v Dogs game in 1998 as a guest of a Dogs Cttee member. Right in front of me was Charlie Sutton. The game was at Princes park for some reason, dogs won by 3 goals, Grant had 21 disposla and kicked 3. Charlie was held in reverance at the event by all, but Chris Grant turned on a master class in the game and I found his nickname with the Doggies faithful was ' Rolle Royce". He sure was that day and I appreciated him ever since. Both worthy links to each team I reckon.

What we know for sure is that No-one knows. Its all supposition. Bulldogs momentum cannot be sustained over 2 weeks and to think so is ridiculous. Arguments each way: In favour of Dogs - Dogs get to rest up , sore players recover, Dees become bored waiting again, ................ Against dogs - Dogs lose monentum, 2 weeks is mis-managed , Dees get good recovery, May is fit (AA Full back), Naughton loses sleep because May is fit, Dogs become bored too and fill in time watching the Dees prelim win and realise they can't win the GF,..... etc. , etc. Apart from th above, the key issue is the quality of Burgess and medicos in tuning up the team cherry ripe, May is healthy, and they can better manage the emotional drain of a 2 week wait. Teh debate he is all about column inches and who can blame the media for that. They have 2 weeks to fill in too.
  22. Excellent call.

Goodwins post game talk to the players was spot on. Jobs not done. All we've done is get the the GF. Enjoy this moment , but The job is to win the GF. Smart - no of the pseudo emotional messaging that the players don't need . I like Bevo and drawing on emotion is a good thing at times. I like Goodwin's more of a "this is us", its worked all year, lets get it done our way"
  24. I knew someone would reply accordingly. It was about the principle rather than an afl/aflw issue.
  25. Everytime I read this thread someone has come up with nothing short of another brilliant idea. Daisy and Garry?
