  1. The Dees are in uncharted territory here. The most players ever to win a GF that played every game of the year - 9 Players. and many more just short of all games. The best defence of the 2000's. The best midfield of the 2000's. How does a young bloke get a game, especailly as the average age , apart from May, is around 25. Lockhart might be a gun, but at 25 now, the opportunities will be limited and the club made the right/pragmatic call. Good luck to him elsewhere.
  2. 5 minutes earlier when Trac was on the bench Choco grabbed him and told him to get ut there and take over the game. (Trac's words, not mine, in an interview post game when asked what did Choco say at the time) He did, unsurprisingly to Choco, so of course he was relaxed in his own way.
  3. I believe the panel and the additons this year - Yze and Willimas, Chaplin etc. and Richo's role - helped a lot and the pen should be out for them. This coaching /mgt team needs to stay together also, at least for 2022. Simon lead them beautifully, but I had great faith with him on the boundary (which I applaud, and Ross Lyon said would cost us ) , knowing Yze is up in the box.
  4. Good luck to any opposition team kicking a winning score against Petty, Bowey, Salem, Lever Rivers, Hunt, etc and of course May until hopefully his 38th birthday. Honourable mentions to Spargo, Langdon, Oliver, Neal-Bullen, Brayshaw and all the other 'team' defenders who help out The amazing stat this year as noted on the finals discussion was that if Dees kick over 65 points they win, such is the effectiveness of the defesnive stratgey and personnel.
  5. And along with bowey imagine how good these kids will be at 25 after playing alongside and under May and Lever support and leadership. SALEM ALSO in that role.
  6. Spot on. From now every team will be now fearing playing the dees twice . The cats especially.
  7. I wonder if there's a bit of them still coming down off the whole month of Septemeber and GF. And not going cold turkey emotionally, just a few catch ups and reminisce? Few options in Melb lockdown so why not meet somewhere familiar and have a few laughs.
  8. I'm with you and wondered what's all the fuss about Mordor and what does it relate to and which team? Obviously I'm not a Tolkien fan. Courtesy of Wikipedia "...In J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional world of Middle-earth, Mordor (pronounced [ˈmɔrdɔr]; from Sindarin Black Land and Quenya Land of Shadow) is the realm and base of the evil Sauron..." This could be anywhere really - The hangar, Holden centre, Blundstone, Waverley, .... But Kardinia Park sits nicely, especially on game-day at the ground if your a Dees fan.
  9. Spot on. The smart decision commercially. Which pays the bills doesn't it? Could guarantee a 90K crowd possibly with the above suggested teams.
  10. I understand why Pert pushed for this, as a way for the Dees to re-create the GF having missed being at Optus. But it won't be the same. Get the timing and date for the match right to maximise viewing and attendances. More important I think its still disrespectful to the Dogs though.
  11. A highlight for Hibbo in 2021 was his handling of Dusty in the win over the Tigers. Media pundits after that were calling for other teams to "find their Michael Hibberd.." to play on Dusty, as if the Dees had unlocked the secret.
  12. No worries. And to think I have a maths degree. Maybe I just can't type. Go Dees.
  13. I like the story of roos sending goody up to Clayton 's home and meeting in the kitchen with him and parents. Message was lose weight or don't bother coming down. He did and jason taylor delivered the outcome.
  14. Thanks for the correction. Incredible he's this good at this age. We'll have years of delighting in watching hime play.
  15. Scary thing? He's only 25 years 3 months old. And "hates losing". With his much improved kicking he now hurts the opposition. Unlike many leesser accumulators like Mitchell and McCrae. Importantly was a Goodwin project from day 1.
  16. Spot on. We're about respecting others as a club and having the Dogs is downright rude. In the past the Tiges have done it on a hursday night, not all club unfurl in Round 1. (Eagles in 2019 the most recent, Hawks in 2016) No real pattern, except the dogs did it on a sunday arvo at 3.20 which I like the sound of. Plenty of kids should have the opportunity to go. Not a night game please.
  17. Is that the version with part of the match day ball. 1000 limited edition????
  18. His post game interview on the ground was the most realisitic and insightful when he described the early disasterous years of his career as a young man. He, more than anyone, seemed to understand just how hard its been over the last decade. 1 flag won't be enought for him I suspect.
  19. Iv'e watched the first 1/4 many times. The take away is how the team settled straight and looked 'on', and most young players got involved. Not one sign of nerves and Jackson was a key member of that cohort. His quick intercept and handball to Charlie Spargo a delight. Clean hands and fast brain.
  20. Max now can a have a few more seasons too! With young Luke transitioning.
  21. They are wrong. The umpire deemed it a disposal. Otherwise as trac had prior opportunity he would have been pinged for holding the ball or incorrect disposal.
  22. Why not. Jackson first rising star to win a flag same year. Bowey would be a mirror image of sorts. Won the flag . Now for the rising star.
  23. Tmac for me too. Highly educated so using ' consumate' would be in his vocab. Had seen trac from the start. And i think would have had a lot to do with bbb both training and strategy. Brown did not come in in a threatening manner to tmac so i suspect esp now as flag partners in crime might well be close.
  24. Dermot says reputations are made in finals. Naughton was poor in the gf. But makes this list?
  25. I find it interesting how he jumps in a ruck contest. In 3rd 1/4 his jumping style was similar to a basketballer or a volleyball spiker. Almost unplayable. He signs up and the Dees will have big maxy for another 5 years as a result of reducing his game time from 90% plus
