Read Ch7 Interview with brody grundy about his MFC experienece and our culture. Dropped online today . Couldn't be more different, in a posiitve way, than the media white noise from those on the outside - as opposed by someone from the inside with no agenda to push, like clicks. Swans ( incl them having JJ) are now my second team for this season.

Christian Petracca’s 2024 Season Ending Injuries
Demon17 replied to pitmaster's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think it was Joel selwood at the cattery. -
My point exactly. Collingwood playing the PR 101 card. Let's make Maynard a victim. Similar to the tried and tested Aussie male defence "... she made me do it..." Put up. Or simply don't bring it into the public domain. Weak effort by McCrae that he would buy into this strategy - which is what this is.
-
Depends on his issue. What was it?
-
Why so early? Good summary nevertheless
-
And also runs the risk of being offered a long term contract with Channel 7
-
Not a gambler but noticed just now Dee's firming still. Fascinating

Great post Pitmaster. What I have come to realise is that our anger is largely a function of the pathetic handling of Maynard and denial of any form of justice thanks to weak management by the AFL. Maynard's a thug and despite what his Mum complains about will have this as his lifelong legacy. I will move on re: him. I'm going today and will rue watching Maynard, but resolutely cheer for the Gawn/Viney led dees. As Buckley said, today is not about the result, but the effort providd. The result will take care of itself. My contempt for the AFL in-house club, with Laura Kane just another second rate member continuing the tradition (remember last week's doctor/concussion send off comment by her - "nothing to see here!) will simply continue.
-
Really?. Hosking's Elliott a good inclusion. Their A graders ahead of ours and in form. Caicos won't be tagged. Uphill tomorrow to beat their system strategy. We don't have one. Go Dee's nevertheless
-
You're confusing team announcement which this week will be tomorrow arvo. It's when the line up is locked away internally that I am referring too. As stated by Goodwin suggesting match comments sleep on it an extra 24 has. They will have made the call now. Just not publicly. My interest still stands. Somethings up I still reckon?

SOLUTIONS NEEDED. 2 JUNE 2024. Memo to Goody

Clickbait again. -
Really interested in selection this week. Why the delay and goody saying let's take 24 hours more and sleep on a possible decision. I sense something big?
-
Nailed it Jaded.!!! In the QF last the magpie crowd chanted whilst Gus was yet to wake up. This time they'll give it to the great Steven May. It will be sickening esp with sniper Maynard (or Duncan Wright as I call him) targetting some poor unfortunate demon left wide open. See you at the Kangas game.
-
Don't get me wrong. Bailey kicks 6 in a GF and will be forever in my heart. Not the easiest job in the team that he has to fulfil.

In an effort to brighten you up re: histroy of club, etc, I still am attending games since 1965 and I marvel at the sheer talent I have watched these last few years. Collectively the best I have ever seen. I'll attend Monday with that mindet - how priviledged are we to watch Max, and Trac and Jack? Only ever felt this emotion watching Robbie's career. Don't let the white noise get to you. -

Thanks for the above. In my view the media pile about straight sets finals set up a narrative late last year that forced the club - incorrectly - to maybe think the past now isn't working lest we change - despite our obvious strengths. Still recognising other teams are improving with new talent we don't yet have - eg Horne Francis, Harley reid, etc. Evidence? 2022 - a couple of goals short of a prelim - with 10 players injured, incl Max, and Trac(heroically IMO) with a cracked tibia. We were highly competitve despite these issues. I attended the Gabba bllodbath we inflicted on the Lions not 2 weeks earlier then lose at the 'G'. Did noone think how that was possible. ? 2023 - Lost forward line with jake out, JVR out susp., Collingwood game - Brayshaw and poor kicking, then one poor kick /decison by Jack and prelim gone also. I concur not much was wrong, and acknowledge JVR our key to future but not quite ready. Tweak but keep going with key aspects of current game, but with a few improvements like lowering the eyes etc. I expect to see a major reversion to 21-23 style on Monday - despite personnel deficiences -
I'm with Nathan Buckley on this week. Its not the result, and its not the opposition,. Its all about the team showing heart and effort. Was last week an aberration - maybe? A win won't fix anything because the pies will be so undermanned thus that will be the media commentary, . but that's not the point. Its how they go about the endeavour - yes I'm looking at you Bailey (for one)
-
Agree with you except I have faith for 1 last time in Max and Jack dragging the team along effort-wise. They can only do it so often.
-
You're channelling David King. Don't get beaten by what you know he says. You've prepared a reasonable 'to do list' for Simon. And there's other issues such as effort and game style that need attention. Now let's see his approach on Monday. Will tell a lot about his future IMO
-
Correct. Petty nevers plays forward again - and the outcome will say a lot about Simon and inability to become creative mid-season when its necessary. Still have faith in on-field leaders though.
-
Absolutely. The stats from today have such a large element of unreality that its difficult to fathom the issues given the talent on the list, albeit with gaps. Petty - 2 disposals, Midfield crushed, and we now indisputably know we have the poorest attack in the AFL. Certainly not contenders, even with a win against the Pies next week. Fascinating second half of the season to see the response, esp from the Match Cttee. Worst fear is bottoming put as some here may suggest. Worst time in AFL history to be that posiiton with Tassie coming in to suck out the talent. Think GWS/Suns nightmare for us 15 years ago.
-
Thanks. That explains Darcy Moore's alcohol ad, where he's playing a private person with no Pies paraphenalia in that ad. Hope Trac got something out of it though, rather than just being a step ladder.
-
But could they block? Wouldn't this be a private deal by trac and Isaac with Colgate. Handsomely paid no doubt.
-
Excellent observation. Luke Darcy seems to understand its Sam's turn now and quietly revels in it. He doesn't probably need to live vicariously through his children. Daicos snr is just a bit weird. Not a bad thing but overexposure is beckoning. Maybe Luke's got just a bit more on his plate than Peter? Daicos boys are first rate anyway but in the last 1/4 It looked like Beveridge had a plan for Nick to curb influence at critical times.
