  1. Didn't say the acts were like for like if you read the post. My conclusion however is that outside of Collingwood this act defines Maynard's career. And like Wright we will hear now a lifetime of justifications etc. That, for Maynard's far worse a penalty than 3 weeks from a Tribunal. Most interesting to me is how the Pies handled each case. Pretty classy in 1965. Disgraceful in 2023 thanks to current culture. Note the great Thorold Merrett's comments after the Wright incident.
  2. Factual Similarities: Both Played in losing Grand finals Both wore original jumper numbers in the 30's Both took out a champion opposition player in finals (those players' season over as a result) Both victims have a flag to their name Both victims were wide open and undefended Neither Wright nor Maynard were suspended Both instigators were Collingwood players Factual Differences: In Wright's case the ball was about 40 metres away, Mayanard was around 10 metres away. Each act occurred in different centuries. In Wright's case , no-one saw the act - In Maynard's.......the AFL world saw it, me live. Conclusion I guess in my mind I'll see both acts as one in the same on balance That Gus's hit happened 58 years later and still went unpunished is unfathomable - but that's just my opinion. At this stage only an opinion - but like Wright - Maynard will forever be associated with the recent act - thanks to the internet. A legacy that he will spend his lifetime justifying - as Wright had done till he passed away.
  3. Gus is contractually owed his player contract payments. He would be ill-advised to sign any 'no future legal action' taled by the AFL. These two issues are unrelated and payout is not predicated on him signing anything I suspect.
  4. Read today's article by Peter Ryan in the Age. Sums up Angus beautifully, but also refers to mayanard having to carry the load for this decsion by Angus and maynard's action. IMO, Brayshaw is and will be all class and revered into the future. I know I will. mayard is now a footnote/stain on AFL history (along with the Tribunal members who found him not guilty). A much bigger lifetime burden to carry than a lousy 3 week suspension he should have been handed.

  6. Thanks for this pitmaster. Realistic but agree with 3 word summary as you noted. I think back to last seasons match sim where Brody was on fire forward etc. Media were in a lather. Like this year's mainly meant nothing as a predictor. Roll on Round zero
  7. Probably seen as blasphemy by some but I rate big game performance highly Ns robbo was never convincing to me. Fritsch ahead of him imo. And Steven May absolutely stiff. But who goes out. But apart from neither in early years not a single defender which say something about the period. Think Rance Scarlett Taylor .
  8. I try to avoid Clickbait Cornes so thanks for nothing Demonland. However I think top 3 are spot on albeit Goffys Bont comments above are on the money. There's Bont then daylight in leadership at the Dogs. Max is a more well-rounded leader than bont or Toby. Should be top for this reason. And he's not advertising alcoholic drinks like Moore.
  9. Why not. Your father's name was Hymie.
  10. Greater Geelong plus Surf Coast Shire 15 minutes down the road combine for 300k ferals and growing.
  11. Tassie is but that's not the point. Geelong is bigger than Hobart and growing . Hobart's flatlined as has the state for decades.
  12. Many thnaks for your great work on here.PF. I'm interested to hear not your starting 22 yet, but the 'locks' and who you think conversely are at risk of missing out as a result of these newcomers. Thanks in anticipation
  13. Yes for sure. Jenkins is just another 'clickbait merchant' from SEN. Move on for gawds sake.
  14. Agree . The flag that got away despite injuries and forward woes. We never tossed it in
  15. Correct on both imo Dr G. Sums up the season but should have had more than 2 goals against the filth at half time also. I suspect a lions prelim would have been a hiding to nothing. But at least it would have kept those 5 year olds in the media at bay
  16. As someone else here said"...puerile..." comment re Goodwin. Viney has the outlet kick with under a minute. He nails it we win. He hits a blues player on the chest. We lose. Game over. Simon can't be out there kicking it. Grow up and move on.
  17. Correct. You refer to the one held in late 2019 The erson who bagged Oscar was Question 1 and was rightly booed by audience members and well handled by Pert
  18. Not so fast. The Afl (Gil's) outrageous Hobart stadium racket ranks up there with this issue given the scale of impact on a city smaller than Geelong and the nation's worst housing crisis. My tip is eventually tassie govt will change and rightfully renege on the plan. Poor Brissie is just stuck and will be car car crash
  19. Up to Round 15 released tomorrow.
  20. Agreed . But stillNice to see us now referred to in the Age this morning as "...four of the bigger supported clubs..." The geelong game is our cross to hear but this will be a good year to meet them down there I reckon. We were longer Jack viney kick short of the prelim final.
  21. The Crows debacle costing them a final says it all. The lack of outcry spoke volumes about the toeing the party line mentality. If this issue didn't elicit a hard complaint by crows via legals then nothing will. Just an indigenous sport run by a club of second raters some might say.
  22. Well done and kudos to Pies and McCrae. One reason they will continue to be a power. He was gone once he went to grand final eve races IMO. And his GF game was underwhelming at least. Sad he's got a medal on the back of the Pies efforts. Bit like Cam Mooneys first. But he was a champ and acknowledges this.
  23. Can Demonland boss develop and implement a strictly voluntary 'Kane Cornes Filter'. He's demonstrated clear unobjectivity this year and is click driven. I don't mind opinions I disagree with. Thanks in anticipation. This blokes incorrigible and I for one would tick the box to activate.
  24. Excellent post. Stop paying attention to anything cornes/Morris have to offer. Petty/Lever led defence is a 6 year model.
  25. Petty goes and windows is shut IMO.
