And Jake Niall of the age hinted pre 22 season there was complacency at the club. Then we win 10 straight with sublime football. Not monitoring the media this year was a brilliant move by me. No kayo Haven't seen a front bar episode nor footy classified. Sen is not on my listening list now. Haven't watched any non Dee's games. I highly recommend it. Demonland fills my need for informed and uninformed commentary. Keep up the good work on my behalf everyone.

We win the flag then in 22 win first 10 games. Then injuries Pies and cats falling off a cliff. Go dees.

Good point well made. Just thinking ahead for any legal defences from afl
-
Absolutely wrong on this Gawndy imo. Once Gus medically retired due to concussion the afl will know of that advice and force Gus to retire. If the afl knowingly allowed Gus to play on under these circumstances their liability would have been enormous. It still is substantial as Gus suffered a football act eventually unpunished.

Good news week (positive news only)
Demon17 replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's why I'm still optimistic. The team does have character now and is never blown away by final siren in a loss Viney is wonderful -
But also she "managed" the debacle of the Crows loss to the swans. Lacked a backbone but so did the Crows. Cost a finals place .

Good news week (positive news only)

Missed another key ingredient. They have an excellent coach in Longmire. Performs well over a long period. Apart from the beginners error in 2022 gf playing injured Sam Reid that is. Envious on that aspect -
Absolutely DOx. Every Demon I know has said since the game - " still no forward line". Dermie's right about a lot of stuff, and as I said here last week, for example he believes Lions don't win a flag with Daniher and Hipwood as key forwrad talls. Friday night - 11 marks between them for 2 goals combined.. Curnow and McKay showed how its done, as did Jesse last night and Max king yesterday also.
-
Dermot says Lions won't win a flag with Daniher and Hipwood as their key forwards I agree with him

I don't like this post about JJ. I trust the club and former team mates to treat him with the resepct he deserves on how he carried himself at the club. Remember the '21 Prelim he racked up 9 possies in 20 minutes when he came on. He did his bit in the campaign with the opportunity.

Many thanks for the above D9. Seriously flawed I know but i've now warmed to Brad Scott (Bombers maybe under him). What a classy response to a lazy piece of compering. Who decided to give Caro a microphone, that's what I want to know.

After yesterday, and Clarry's performance last week .... Clarry's not the story Smith is off the radar Thanks to hair testing ladder and max's leadership culture is not the story. Looking forward to a nice quiet week media-wise, but no doubt it can change quickly. I'm now intrigued to see what the media line/target will be till season opener. Powell-Pepper??? hang on - maybe Caulfield now?
-
The discussion was on SEN on 22 Feb and its on SEN'd podcast for their Breakfast show. Its a 6 minute clip of the show and Tim talks about the hair testing ladder just after Max's part of the clip around 1 Minute 35secs into the clip

My thoughts at the time exactly. Richo doesn't do random. This was well thought out inside the Dees. Its a case of now from us of "...You know that we know... beware lest you cast the first stone...." Who supplied Ginnivan his white powder?
-
Tim Watson discussed it specifcally on SEN to Gary Lyon noting the bizarre openess of Richo and this being one of the interview highlights about the Dees he gleaned when discussing culture.. Last week he did a special interview for Ch 7 with Richo. Tim's take was if the ladder exists, and it probably does, why is it secret?
-
Your'e right Deestar9 it achieves nothing. But it will benefit me re: the filth supporters etc. Theyll'have a banner for Maynard probably.

With you on this feeling. This Forum is providing some level of catharsis to enable us to vent, but I have noted on here other aspects to feel better. Such as the Duncan Wright incident and what I believe will be , or now is, Maynard's legacy for life. Thug. Where's Rod grinter when we need him. I love the Dees still, but hate about everyone else associated with the game in positions to have a microphone and opinions, top of the list being the AFL funnily enough for denial of justice to Gus. Collingwood fans and behaviour after the Act is on another level altogether for hatred however which is why I will boycott KB this season, being a Pies home game.

Well done to Max and Richo for recent media messaging strategy. Max is representing the players admirably and interestingly was lead skipper on the interview front at yesterday's launch. With Bont running second. Age's lead article was Max today. Face it he's way more interesting to the media anyway. But...the clever component was Richo's sneaky aside to tim Watson last week that the Dee's are near the bottom of the hair testing ladder. Firstly we didn't know there was one. Secondly upwards of maybe 16 clubs have more issues and by the media"s definition poorer culture than us. But no one is following this thread lest we find heaven forbid the Pies are top of the ladder.

Nailed all of them. Succinct and spot on. Esp on Stewart. May is my first pick for the Dee's every day of the week.

Dees Could Become ‘One of the Worst One-Hit Wonders’
Demon17 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Spot on. And I would grab any day 3 top 4 finishes and a flag. -
Correct on this Mono, but when you read the interveiw of the late Duncan Wright towards the end of his life he talks about no regrets on the one hand, then sheds a tear etc, and feels hard done by that the Pies sacked him. Don't tell me it didn't affect him. I know a close member of the Somerville family who told me John was not quite the same after the knockout. As it will Maynard - no sympathy for him and will be reminding all my Pies friends on the Wright issue.
-
I'm bent out of shape over this I admit, however I am planning to not attend KB. Its a Pies home game and my way of denying something they love - money. Imagine if the Dees fans en masse took this approach as a once-off. Media would go ballistic but the point would be well-made.

Duncan Wright vs Brayden Maynard. Similarities?
Demon17 replied to Demon17's topic in Melbourne Demons
None. Two examples. 1. Princip got 20 years jail time . Maynard gets off. 2. Princip played as a forward for Sarajevo in his youth in the Balkans Football League (or BFL as it was known then) Maynard's a defender. -
Duncan Wright vs Brayden Maynard. Similarities?
Demon17 replied to Demon17's topic in Melbourne Demons
I looked at the O'Dea case and noted the victim in Greening was a Brayshaw-type player - all class, except O'Dea got 10 weeks - because it was on the tele. Thus Wright's defence of " no Comment" to the police investigation, along with no tangible/reliable witnesses meant he walked- just like Maynard. O'Dea not so lucky. But Wright was a "good bloke" notes the Pies club website. Just like Maynard. Gee, that's another similiarity too I missed. I'm signing off now and will follow Gus's career post- playing with love and affection. My spies at the Club's launch had nothing but pariase for the feeling in the room, and the leadership shown by Max, Kate and trac I think. Go Dees. -
Duncan Wright vs Brayden Maynard. Similarities?
Demon17 replied to Demon17's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gladly, "...There was a public outcry; and the press was outraged: Gladly and thanks for not extrapolating my post as some on here have done as a sort of comparison of both acts. Its not, but it is a view on the non-collingwood legacy now of player Maynard. I thought the similarities/differences were also interesting
