  1. Because Northern Territory are a sponsor and we need the cash, one of the few games we will make dollars out of this year. The kick out by Dunn highlighted why long down the guts is not a common kick out, but we were unlucky. One or two opportunities taken in the last and it could have been a different result
  2. if a coach didnt have an emphasis on this, they would not get a coaching job anywhere
  3. from what i have heard he is a rooster smoker of the highest order and that players are much more responsive to comments from brad miller, whether they are melbourne listed or not
  4. Impact being medium, should really be low, Rance played on for the rest of the game. If Richmond are to say he had any after effects due to the blow to the head then they should be I'm trouble with the concussion ruling. Many harder hits have got off, young on chapman
  5. The guy is making himself sound like a goon. At the end of the day the standard of the VFL players is not good enough to have a winning team. Melbourne players may make mistakes, but our general list strength in my opinion is poor. Especially in key positions, this being said Hogan was responsible for a lot of goals last year
  6. i think the main difference is that we took Kennedy-Harris, if he wasnt available i think we would find templeton on our list. our biggest issue was midfielders and that is why Harmes was chosen, the combination of ready made player (jetta), defender (georgiou), developing key forward (king) and midfielder (harmes) is a good way to go about a rookie list in my opinion. Hunt was the very questionable pick up, heard he was overshadowed by josh kelly and christian salem in school footy, but he always showed great pace, may well develop into a damaging player if he is able to break the lines and use his disposal effectively.
  7. my point is that why would he say "melbourne have been in serious contact with me, they are stoked that i have been able to put some muscle on my body and follow the gym program they have provided me over the last 18 months. Now that i have been able to get into the senior side at glenelg the coaching staff have all but assured me they will pick me up with a father sone pick." that neither benefits the club nor him
  8. i dont think we have left him with any doubts, i think he is just answering the best way he should answer it for the club, if he went out and said the club guaranteed they would use a 1st round selection on me, how does that benefit any party. no doubt he if was in victoria the club would have done a similar thing to what they did with viney and got him playing for casey, but seniors sanfl is a better learning experience than TAC cup so it gives him every oppourtunity to develop.
  9. They probably will not play 1-2 players incase they are required as emergency anyway. Often have 1 "travelling" emergency
  10. i agree that spencer wasnt able to take many contested marks, but he did get his hands on the footy and was often creating a contest when the ball was in the air. i think both are negligible in terms of output around the ground, as neither are going to take a big mark. I think you undersell Spencers goal kicking ability, there were several games at casey last year where he proved his ability to hit the scoreboard. i will agree that he is able to ruck, lead and direct better than spencer, but i still feel that around the ground, marking, contesting and especially after the ruck contest spencer puts us at an advantage. This doesnt mean i will have him ahead of Jamar, but this is only due to ruckwork at this stage, but once spencer is able to start increasing his hit outs to advantage, he is a better option to Jamar. that being said, a fit Max Gawn is our ruckman of the future.
  11. bit lucky id say, probably the only contested mark he has taken in the last two weeks. Spencer will apply much more pressure around the ground and at stoppages than Jamar, but neither have much presence with ball in hand. The only reason Jamar is ahead of spencer is due to the fact his ruck work is better. I would have spencer higher in basically every other aspect of the game other than the most important and that is ruckwork.
  12. The thing that I think gets Viney off, is he pretty much stops and they fly into him. If he ran through and bumped or chose to move forward in a bumping motion then he would get weeks. Having said that I think he may get 1-2 due to the damage from his bump. Adelaide are good at providing medical reports, just like last week when dangerfield copped a love tap in the gut and they reported damage to the stomach.
  13. Barry was the travelling emergency for the GWS game, so I don't think he is too far off it. From reports his GPS data is spot on, but he just doesn't use it effectively, and obviously this is an issue. But is a player with great fitness and this could well be beneficial if he gets his running patterns correct.
  14. The fact that he doesn't turn it over is great, but effective disposal stat is quite pointless when he rarely moves the ball forwards. But good that when he has it we generally keep possession

Would have loved to be in the crowd for the match Sunday night, the everton supporters were up and about. Having said that I feel like they should have shown a bit more respect to the ex gaffer but still he did say that everton should allow Baines to go to a bigger club for him to improve. Stoked my toffees will be playing European footy, and hoping arsenal slip up twice so we can slip up once!! Edit: moyes learnt from the school of Neeld, get a massive pay out 16 mil coming his way!!
  16. was going to say the same thing, Strauss could well play next week and i still think he is above terlich and clisby in the fact he actually can stop his opponent scoring. He has struggled at times to find the football while playing as a defender but he is still our best option when fit. IMO of course but lots of fans on here dont like him, but having said that lots of fans on here dont like lots of the players
  17. Barry is this player and i think will be a big improver over the next 12 months. It was stated in a vfl review that his gps figures are at AFL level now its just about getting to the right spot. He moves quickly and covers long distances and uses the pill really well. Whilst footspeed and line breaking is helpful, kicking the ball 50 m to a target and then the next target on is the best way to break lines, i dont care how quick someone is the ball will travel quicker in the air, and it is more about how you use the ball.
  18. I don't know if I agree as much with him not chasing, I felt like he did make several hard chases, whilst not laying the tackle he did pressure the opponent. Was his output as great today as usual no, but he is still one of our only players that looks to make things happen with ball in hand and that is why he is important
  19. He just doesn't have the versatility that was necessary today. When he got caught on a small he looked out of pace and very very poor defensively. Garland, frawley, t-mac and Dunn all can play on a small forward if that happens in transition and I don't think georgiou can
  20. Go play in traffic
  21. A) Grundy shouldnt be playing AFL ones at this stage of his development, let alone number 1 ruck, which will prevent collingwood for being premiership contenders until he is 24-25 (in my opinion) and by then the midfield will not be around him anymore. B) This doesnt mean he doesnt have the potential to be a good player, but he sure as hell doesnt live up to his hype. C) he only has one hit out technique, and it is the hook over his head, which he used to good effect end of last year. NicNat is flat out overrated, Jack Watts is consistently underrated, but at the end of the day even if watts had equal touches to that of naitanui i know who would have been more effective with the football. AFL media is all hype, and at the end of the day the thing that the media do the most that annoys me was talk about all the opposition teams missing players to explain why they are performing so poorly, when they forgot melbourne missing 2 of our best ruckmen, 3 of our key forwards and arguably our best defender.
  22. wouldnt mind if Strauss can stay fit, he is our best small defender and one v one is far greater than terlich and clisby in my opinion. definitely the player i would most like to see come on this year. i have a feeling that Jordan Schroder could well end up at another club in the coming years, is struggling to consistently get game time in the geelong midfield and dominates at VFL level, i wouldnt mind it being us
  23. Spencer is one of the only ruckman who can play out 3 and a bit quarters in the ruck by himself, his input around the ground needs to increase, but around the stoppages he is a beast. His second efforts have always been his strong point and he is no doubt going to benefit from prolonged time in the number 1 ruck spot. I think Jamar will ad much more hit outs to advantage against the bigger ruckmen due to his experience, but the pressure around the ground andthe fact that Spencer is willing to lay a tackle and chase is his biggest attribute and one which cannot be underestimated. having a 100 kilo 203 cm bloke who is chasing the smaller players around and plays with aggression is something the team really needs (even if his disposal and marking is questionable at the moment)
  24. Even still I would feel better with a Dawes, hogan and fitzy forward line than what we have! I think the performance is much better than what people think is my main point
  25. Take Cox, Kennedy, Darling, Sinclair out if their side and see how the result is. Jamar, Clark, Dawes, hogan We held the ball well, just lacked confidence going forward, which is to be expected. The game was a lot worse on the score board than actually was during the game. Fitzy is struggling as a lone target, max gawn is a certain inclusion for next week!
