  1. this also reminds me of one passage of play i think against carlton, he didnt slot a goal from 55m but hit a 55m pass to a running team mate surronded by 3 or 4 opposition players. if he can build on this then he will be a fine player, especially if the backlines not under as much pressure and he has more time to kick rather then dish off a quick handball which i think happened after he came back into the senior side. having more tall targets and more structure up the field would only help you would hope.
  2. can anyone remember terry wallace saying before one game how he felt the game was in trouble because he knew his team was better off to lose? but i bet in his stomach he would of be trying to win, or libba stateing that there was a vibe at carlton and everyone knew it that they didnt want to win, but at the same time can you imagine players wanting to lose? can anyone spot the difference? if it was happening to carlton or collingwood or eagles most of us would probably be reading with keen interest of her opinion. thats what she is also paid to do, its a opinion piece, i dont see any quotes or sources, so she has clearly got some information and is building from that, but the source isn't reliable or can not be named due to legal reasons to bring into it. she fails to mention that time and again A.D has described tanking as players instructed or going onto the field of play to lose. some players may of picked up on the vibe like fev and whitnel(spelling?) but were they ever told not to win, i doubt any player would choose to lose over winning. if any of our players didnt try they're hardest to win, then we should be punished, the players that are still in the team should be punished for letting that happen, and anyone to do with the club should be punished. i doubt any player went out wanting to lose. i've had similar experiences with cricket where if we lost to my best mates team they would of made the finals, i wanted them to make the finals but at the same time did everything i could to win. i suspect all people that play sport would be the same. tell me that Frawley or Warnock wouldnt of been trying they're hardest in the forward line? i cant remember exactly but i think robertson got moved into the centre square towards the end of the tigers match, if memory serves he actually won a centre clearance which was tapped down to him by miller in the ruck, tell me if they weren't trying to win then why were they doing that?
  3. my daughters 19 months, and she wont be allowed out until she's 25 and I will still chaperon!
  4. in his first few games didn't show much with is kicking which was a standout for why he was drafted, was quite weak one on one and in the defense, i thought we'd picked a dud, but then a few games before he broke his leg and the game he broke his leg in, won a few one on ones and attacked the game and looked to be competent player. started to find his place in the team and i thought he would be a decent player. then the break happened, a few people on here seemed to start rating him more and more and before you knew it he was one of the stars of the future. Some people seemed to start rating him more after his injury then when he was playing then when he made his come back i guess it was a bit of a dissapointment to some of these people, but i think he'll train hard and come back and start developing again like he was showing. i almost forgot about his injuries before his leg held him back as well, i think it was hip then shoulder wasnt it?
  5. NO FOOTBALLERS ARE GETTING NEAR MY DAUGHTER!
  6. i now long for a chocolate sundae. where did you get it from? was it fantastic?
  7. anyway i'd like to leave all that where it is, sorry for going off topic, what i'm thinking is if wellingham is thinking about going back home then we'd have to offer a better contract then the two w.a teams to get him to us (like i have been told sydney had to do to get their men). depends what we'd have to pay and for how long, i think he could be probably our second best mid maybe third, if its front loaded in the first couple of years then it wont really be to bad because he would probably be worth more to us then others. another player i'm keen to watch is moloney and how he goes at a different club next year. i would think wellingham would be on a similar wage to what moloney would be on next year, but i think he would add more then brent, although if brent returns to 2011 form then it will be a close call.
  8. he was offered more through sydney then he was through any other team, when did i change my story, Ben McGlynn was offered more money then he would of been on at hawthorne, and more then what he was offered at other rival victorian clubs, same as kennedy. from what i've been told kennedy and mcglynn got paid more at sydney and thats what i've said from the start, got offered more money and a role in the 22. I replied to BH earlier saying that we were saying a similar thing but he felt the need to insult. i am willing to have a discussion.
  9. well done on the insult, you must feel proud. I clearly stated that other victorian clubs were interested and put their case forward, sydney paid more and offered a better contract then the other clubs, read what i wrote, they paid more then the other clubs offered more for both of them. keep your snide remarks to yourself, if your up for a discussion then talk if you want to continue with the insults over a keyboard then go for it. i wont be apart of it.
  10. my brother in-law is also friends with a currently listed hawthorne player who has stated that he was offered a spot in the swans team and more money better contract, hawthorne offered a lesser contract and couldn't afford anymore, i dont see where our versions are different, i stated he was paid overs at the swans which for a player not in the 22 and only offered a 1 year contract is what happened. Hawthorne didnt want to see either he nor Ben go, but thats football. if swans offered little more then the hawks i doubt he would of left interstate, when there were other victorian clubs circling, sydney paid more to get those two up there.
  11. under craig adelaide were a very "drilled" side. for years they had that defensive mindset drilled into them, think back a few years when craig was coach and everyone was tipping them as a contender, they still attacked very well, they had alot of players coming to the end of their career's and in craigs last few seasons he copped it for being too defensive and lost the job, they've had young talent coming through for a few years now, and it "blossomed" this year under a new coach, he was able to play to the strengths of this new talent and players like dangerfield stepping up another level. but what influence did craigs defensive training come into play, i bet they wouldnt of been half the side if they were just let free to attack, its an overstatement in the media, they still do all the defensive parts of the game very well, how else could you explain losing 2 key defenders in 2 years and not having players like talia(spelling?) exposed. they also still had a few very good players with experience to drag the younger guys up and teach the players like dangerfield what was needed.
  12. knocking on the top 8 looks like a different league of teams compared to us at the moment, i went through and listed where i expect some improvement(left out a fair few just the sack of not writing a novel) but other teams expect improvement too. The teams you mentioned did just that, improved. we didnt. you mention the sydney win, i view that as a fluke, happens in football. we played a knights style attacking game plan for a few years with out much defense, you see this year that sydney are in the final with focusing on defense, look at west coast, they went from an attacking game with the midfield lead by cousins(under rated by alot due to his distractions) judd, cox fletcher embley, then the midfield moved on, they fell away then were hopeless couldnt hit a target, no one saw them competing for years, changed to a defensive mindset game style and flew up the ladder, shouldnt of been so unexpected looking at there list with so many experienced good players, they improved also they dragged their younger player up as well and look at them. while i see we are now more focused on defense, i can see where some improvement will come from, i just dont see the senior players to drag the young players up, it will be hard work through the players i mentioned earlier.
  13. too early to make a call, depends on all the teams around us, who they pick up, who they lose, who we lose, who we pick up, also how will gold coast go next year without as many injuries? i expect improvement from players like jones(he's improved every year so expect that to continue) mitch to get a full season, hopefully a good pre season, howe to continue his rise(he was very dissapointed with his set shots so expect him to be better next year). I would think Grimes would improve he was getting pretty consistent towards the end of the year, trengove will step up a bit more with Frawley finding it easier in defense with less pressure on him due to the midfield, with young t.m getting more experience(with experience comes time with the ball so hopefully better disposal, or playing within limitations.) all this said, every team around us will be expecting improvement too, so it all depends on who improves more.
  14. these two were paid overs, hawks couldn't match what sydney offered, the cap was too tight, sydney identified this and just as these two were about to break into the 22 consistently swiped. The others you mentioned like richards shaw and mattner were struggling and not living up to expectations. Roo's offered a them a chance and a specific role in the team and they worked their asses off to make it count. Richmond have done similar with bringing in players to play roles, same as sydney some have worked some havent.
  15. I think if we were interested in rodan it would be for a pick we wouldn't use (port either probably) or pick him up in the rookie draft, not that many clubs would be that keen on him I'd imagine.
  16. not sure if this actually goes in here, but a former team mate of Knights believes Richmonds offer will be more then the dee's (still keeps in touch with him but was quite vague and i didnt push had to get back to work). Isn't Knights a restricted free agent? does this mean he has to take the best offer back to adelaide and then they have the choice to match it or can he pick which one (i believe he'd pick the tigers anyway but just interested what happens in this scenario.) Don't worry just read up a bit after i posted. Thanks..
  17. heard Port are talking to victorian clubs about butcher, interesting 12 months ago they would of laughed in the face of any club going near him, go home factor possibly but could it be more?
  18. i always thought in the year the contract was signed (first year) had to be seen through, i have no hard source though, anyone know for sure?
  19. Y Do Knickers Smell After Four?
  20. haha just had a better look snome, i gotta stop looking at the screen on an angle, i lined up my name with eths wins lol. OMR is looking good to make the 8.
  21. if i win i'll finish on 8 wins with 8th place finishing on 9 wins. do the bottom eight still have our own play off finals this year?
  22. if i hold rpfc off this weekend i'll miss out on the eight by one game just like last year, 7th and 8th are up for grabs, going to be a few close ones.
  23. omr its surprisingly like last year, i left my charge too late but taking out teams above me shaping the final 8, if only my list pulled it together a couple of rounds earlier i think i would of been able to have a crack at it.
