Captain and Leadership Group ... Nearest the Pin

I almost agree with you Swap Green and Moloney -
see above he played 146 in 11.5 years, in those days we played 22 games ( ha Ha no finals to worry about ) so 11.5 x 22 = approx 253 possible games that leaves 107 assuming he was not out injured much. So he did play more games in the seniors than reserves.
-
Not quite sure what I said to upset you AOB! Can you tell me I thouight I was just making a light hearted remark. It is only January 23rd plenty of time to get upset later in the year.
-
It is this year! Well it was in my last dream. Not planning any departure yet or any time soon mate I will be happy to buy my share wyl.
-
AOB "4 years " I hope I live long enough!
-
Really was not doubting you WJ. Just a shock that something I believe for all those years was wrong. As you say "live and learn" PS Is he the only player that went up in number over his career?
-
Funny you should say that nutbean as I used to have a soft spot for him. In spite of his sometimes poor games, seemed to typify the Dees of that time Best intentions but ordinary results.
-
I know very little about soccer WJ but they do not appear to have a back line in addition to a hopeless board.
-
Are you certain they were not brothers? Well I have been labouring with a mistaken identity for 40 years!
-
This is probably not the thread for it but the Melbourne Victory must be close to the worst run Senior club in Australia ( then again the Melbourne tigers might give them a run ) at present. They go through coaches like there is no tomorrow. Sack the coach that has won them 2 flags His replacment is replaced half way through a season. The third and current coach has no contract past this year and starts talking about changing players but may not be there for the next season. They are on their third FD in less than a year. Perhaps it is not the coaching staff that is the problem The board it seems to me should resign on mass and give someone else a go as they are obviously not up to the job.

I remember Graham Osborne well ( also had a brother at the Dees for a short while ). He played at the dees for something like 10 years to get 100 games up. Spent as much time in the twos as the seniors. When he a had good day he was an good backman but on his not so good days he was bloody arwful. Was an average player at best, Hutchinson and Dunn are much better players than Osborne ever was.

RR I may have missed something but surely after July 30 there was no reputation left.

Like it DC you are getting it back in time for the main game! -
It is an arguement that will go on for a while yet Lutz. Probably another 2 years. Every time the Weagles beat us or Darling plays well it will surface. I hope to god Cook comes good fast so we can forget the subject. In the mean time it fills in some time while we wait for the end of March
-
You are right my saying it often does not make it true. Darling is doing that for me. The injuries would have made no difference. He was not "The Type" for the MFC so we passed. Not unlike a lot of other clubs who all look silly now.
-
We are all clever with hindsight! The difference is we in the outer do not get paid to get it right. The football department at the MFC do. I know draft selection is not an exact science and all clubs make decisions that do not pan out. But to be honest i do not care about the other clubs. The MFC will live or die in the next couple of years based on the decisions we made in draft selections in the period 2009 to 2011. I think not choosing Darling was an error. It is IMO that simple. Cook has a long way to go to catch up. He may do it and I seriously hope he does
-
You have covered it perfectly for me Ron. I have said this often but Darling did not fit the "choir boy" design so that left him out. I wonder would Neeld have pick him if he was around in 2010? My gut feel is yes. The next 3 years will be interesting

Agree stranga. There is a lot of comment about Grimes and his inability to stay on the park. Tapscott cannot be far behind him. He might struggle to get a game early this year. -

I have never been able to decide if they are a white horse with black strips or a black horse with white strips. they are a bit like the Pies. One decade they are a white jumper with black stripes and the next a black jumper with a few white stripes. But Eddy will tell you the pies do not change their jumper. There is truely lots in life to ponder DC -

I agree with your basic theme, it would appear that in the past couple of years we were well below the level of most AFL teams. Unfortunatley at the end of March the coaching panel will not be the ones running out to play. We will then start to see if they are as clever as they appear at present. -
Garry Lyon's six-month rescue mission over
old dee replied to Brayshaws' Helmet's topic in Melbourne Demons
You are right wyl he will be president for 2012 However I think his inability to be intimately involved through a large part of 2011 led to some of the problems. The MFC must now function with him as the figure head. -
Not great though So the caption should be 1 great and 1 fair player!

Everyone is training great in January and at this rate the top eight is going to have 14 teams in it. The playing group has changed by one senior player and half a dozen kids. Keep Leopards in mind. -
