I agree BB, it grieves me to say it but Carlton are bigger news than the Dees. If they lose badly tonight the MFC will struggle to get a line on any subject tomorrow in the HUN. Big Jim even on the comedy thread that is not funny. For a number of reasons the MFC needs as many wins as we can scrap together in 2013. Tanking gets you nothing but a bad reputation.

I cannot remember hardtack I would have thought Brian Dixon would have been gone by the time Alves started. Without looking up records I thought they were from two different eras. Alves was a 70's player and Dixon would have been gone by then I think. There may have been a small cross over but I doubt it. But I would not bet on that. No doubt someone with a better memory of the time will straighten it out. PS Up Date Alves started in 1965 so there was probably a couple of years that they played together.

That may be true old55 but it may also just be a gambit on his behalf to up the ante. He may just be saying to the Pies ok if you cannot match the $ amount but I will except less on a 5 year deal. There is so much we do not know that all our thoughts are probably worthless because we base them little actual information. my guess is he stays at the pies on an increased rate over 4 years. Absolute guess on my part

Not sure even then you would want to give someone a 5 year deal. IMO there are probably a hand full in the league. I do not see Trengove as a five year deal player at this point. Might be in a year or two, nothing yet suggests to me he will be more than a good player. In fact no one at the Dees suggests 5 years. They might in two years time but not now. As for Cloke IMO he is a good player in a good side who is at best an average kick. How would he go in a team that gives him half the chances he gets at the Pies. That is the $64 question!
