Are we struggling under the weight of scrutiny?
John Crow Batty replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
Worried we could become stuck in a kind of limbo where we are good enough to be a top four team but unable to progress any further. If we go out in straight set two years in a row will be hard to take and do little for future confidence. -
Maynard must get at least four weeks
John Crow Batty replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
AFL tribunal caved in to media pressure to clear Maynard. Shows the power of propaganda. -
Christian’s sacking is long overdue. He has shown at the very least very poor judgement and questionable competence with many stinkers but this one tops the lot.

Fullerton is another Schache. Flynn the best option. I would take Goldie for a one off season.

Brisbane and Port was like a regular season game. Bugger all finals pressure and cheapie goals.

A rarity, I met a really nice Collingwood supporter last night whilst watching the game at a Perth bowling club. Turns out he is Byron Pickett’s uncle and Kozzy is a cousin of his. I asked him why he followed that mob and he said he’s followed them all his life and can’t change.

CHistian should his job. careless, high and severe impact. 3-4 weeks. Then let Collingwood make the next move. ve. -
These kind of smothers happen dozens of time a game. If Maynard gets off it sets a precedent for cleaning up an opponent front on.

Lost 8 games by a combined total of 77 points this season. Rated number 1 for inside 50 entries yet most wasteful. Very frustrating we still can’t decent connection with mids and forwards.

He used up all his energy fighting with Maynard after Brayshaw went down. I thought it would fire him up but it had the opposite effect

This ‘Premiership era’ wasted inside 50
John Crow Batty replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
We have lost our 8 games this season by a combined total of 77 points. Our forward wastefulness has cost us plenty.- 172 replies

Oliver’s stats on paper look pretty impressive. 31 touches, 742 metres gained and 10 tackles for negligible influence on the game. Still gets the ball but looks slow and not as decisive as he was before injured.
-
With so many inside 50’s, Spargo could have been a difference with his smart forward play. He should replace Chandler next week.
-
Some talk in the WA press that Jack Darling might be a good trade for Melbourne since we are in the premiership window. Good for another season mor two perhaps.
-
Tough one. I agree he is very valuable as the sub but he was very strong in the last quarter against the swans.
-
Reported in The Age that McRae said he will likely play both Cox and Cameron in the QF even if it rains. If only one is sellected in the 22 then Cox will be sub.

Something tells me we are going to see some eye opening twists to this whole saga later this week and/or beyond to the end of the season.

Poor man’s Viney.

He will have a more enjoyable season next year. No way WC could be as bad as they were.
-
They continue to pay us and we forward it to his new club is an option.

I worked as a copy boy in the sporting department at the Herald in the 1970’s. One of the perks was that immediately after the GF, the boys working in the sporting department could grab some winner GF posters and rush off to the MCG to sell them. One season I made around $60. Both sets were stacked near the loading bay ready for distribution with the final daily edition of the Saturday Herald. Unfortunately Melbourne never featured in the GF then but if they did even if we lost I would have grabbed some for sure. In hindsight I should have grabbed some of the other loser posters. I imagine they are collectors items these days.

Kids went crazy to get one or more. Was good fun manipulating the ladder every week.

Great numbers but now we need most of them to turn up to games or else we still get to play in flyover country.
