Their bottom six players play like team players. End of story.

It was like Goodwin conceded the game and the team playing to prevent a blowout. No risks taken at all.

It was wet last week so we hopefully have learned something. I expect we will put in a strong showing and cause an upset....maybe because we have nothing to lose. Reminds me of the Adelaide game last season where we followed up brilliantly after a lame effort against the hawks. Then again we blew it again the following week. Need to bust these boom and bust cycles.

Yeah it was all just too hard for these softcoques against the Kokoda trekkers who had no concern of risking their bodies and ran the game out. Not satisfied with a regulation four goal win it seems. The Hawks also were 2 and half men down in the last half and we still could not extract a minor advantage. Rioli and Puopolo arguably their best small men for the conditions were out and an injured benched Frawley had to make the numbers in the last. We failed this test badly.

I’m 50/50 on this. Pederson can be relied on to be at least serviceable but Weed has been a kind of albatross lurking in our big key forward ranks with his slow development. 5 rounds in is about the right time to test him. And Tmac will be back soon and T Smith is lurking also. We need to see if there is any value there and if worth persevering with or destined for the chop at end of season.

Weed needs a chance to prove himself...again. If he fails spare parts Pederson returns. Goodwin has to play him. Young players needs to develop and he has been good enough to have another shot. Ross Lyon was criticised for continuing to play his favourite creaky old hacks to the detriment to young talent and that got him into trouble.

We didn’t start like a rabble. We had a 20 minute disaster. Round one performances mean little anyway. If we played like Hawthorn did, I don’t believe we would have the stomach to fight it out after the game was almost lost beyond hope in the second half.

Hawthorn were a good contrast yesterday. They were a complete rabble in the first half. But they came back to give themselves half a chance. What could have been a 100 point loss was only about 20. They managed to save their percentage. Will come in handy if they are finals contenders.

That was such an unbelievable game. Defied logic.

I see your point but we are playing the reigning premiers. We have to show something. We might lose to a another fluffed kick by Gawn on the death but am fearful we might roll over again. Still I think we can completely reverse last weeks debacle and win but I don’t hold high hopes for the next round if we have a stunning win.
