What I really hate is when players are into negotiating mode and co-incidently produce best career form. I hope this in not the case.
-
Co-incidence that only a day after Dyson Heppel forcefully stated that players who don’t buy into the Essendon culture(cue mind boggle) should go elsewhere we hear that Joe Daniher might miss at least a month with a “groin”(cue anything they do not want public) injury that apparently has been bothering him since early in the year. No mention in the public domain that I recall of this niggle before today. Something smells.

In horse racing terms, Scully was a half a length ahead of Trengove and Dusty was a length away in third at the post. I don’t recall much talk about us considering Martin. It was always Scully/Trengove. At that time we would have burned the career of any player picked so high anyway.

He got hit, he fell. Let’s get the phrenologists in to read the bumps on his head so as to ascertain what were his intentions.

Considering that we lost a finals spot by 0.5 percent last season, inability to finishing off opposition when we have the chance is a fair argument. It happened when we let the saints and Brisbane back in the matches late last season. Of teams currently on four wins we are 5th out of 6th of that lot for percentage. The other side of the coin is when we are off we let Hawthorn crush us and Richmond to turn a 19 point final quarter lead to 42 points. We sell low and buy high.

The ump was in perfect position on the behind line against the post. No hesitating with his decision. Watson refused to even acknowledge that.
-
Best game since he got necked against WC a couple of seasons ago. Was in everything.
-
Two persistent problems. Contested marks and inside 50 efficiency. Much improved today.
-
Good win, as others have said we need to blow away a few when we get into these situations. We get to ninth but we are not striving to be our best. Self satisfaction needs a higher bar.
-
Lethargic start. No pressure and no tackling.
-
These are the games we have to win to be a genuine finals contender. If we don’t we are [censored]. We have to remain in the positive for the win/loss ledger. Go Dees..

If the broadcast networks can squeeze in a quickie commercial whilst the player is setting up the ball they will be all for it.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
John Crow Batty replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
What disgusts me most are the efforts to paint Bomber as some sort of victim as was done with Hird. This guy is successful and wealthy. Yes he may have a personal drug problem but if he crosses that line to hanging around with hardened criminals and trafficking dangerous drugs for profit which are a cancer to society and destroys many lives he deserves to be cast away as a pariah and heaped all the scorn to go with it. I see the damage these vicious drugs cause every day when visiting nearby Victoria Street and know personally of many lives destroyed and lost. We are not talking about relatively harmless weed here. -
THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS

Lucky but still sad and it appears mostly just self harm at this stage. It could have been a lot worse. If his self radicalization was more extreme he might have lived up to his nickname. -
THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
John Crow Batty replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Yep, everyone shuts up and we may only hear anything different if the players when they all turn about 50 start developing some weird cancers, neurological or heart conditions. Pro wrestling rife with substance abuse for a long time has had an unusualy large incidence of premature deaths when wrestlers reach middle age. A truth that dares not speak its name perhaps. -
THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
John Crow Batty replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
I am of the opinion Geelong were the lucky ones to get away with whatever. Essendon and Geelong, two sides of the same coin with one side laying on a dog turd. -
And Luenberger gets a week for whacking Gawn.

Melk has been more consistent since coming over. His starts to the seasons have been slowish but gets better as the season progresses.
-
Watching the replay I feel a little cheated that Bruce bummer kisser was not commentating.

Daniher under the Pump; Will Destroy Us
John Crow Batty replied to pewpewpew's topic in Melbourne Demons
If the title of this thread was “Daniher will play like a wet sponge” he no doubt would have kicked six straight. -
He’s just rubbing off some seagull poop on his neck.

Jetta’s great tackle in the second quarter quickly followed up by a couple of pinpoint Melsham passes for goals turned the game for us. That was the kind of spark sorely missing the previous couple of weeks. Got the forward line mojo back.
-
9 poor or average quarters in a row. Turned our fortunes around finally in the 3rd. Keeping fingers crossed.
-
Melksham gives the forward line some class.
-
Weed and Hogan six touches between them. Phantom forward line.
