You're sounding like a Clive Palmer/ Jeff Kennett hybrid with this rampage. I thoroughly suggest you reconsider because youll regret your choice to leave the game!

RR I just dont understand the enormous dilemma. For next year your best 2 players may not be as incredible as Mad Melbournes but if you take my proposed idea for example I think it gives you absolutely a huge hope. Your two picks under 100 i'd probably use a Back of Goddard (a rare commodity) and Mid of Griffin. Using than the actual rankings to find two players >100 you could than keep Rich and say Leunenberger who has been injury effected but as a ruckman is another handy pick up especially to get an a grader with your > 100 pick. Mad Melbourne's two top picks would be Deledio and Watson for example granted better than yours but his middle range of say Kyle Horsley, Brad Sewell, Danny Stanley, Courtney Dempsey, IMO don't compare to yours! My list is as depleted as yours mate and it's the fun of trying to will yourself out of it through lucky pickups in the waivers and tactical trades. Embrace it!

I'm getting flogged every week this year, not the slightest bit happy with my team I selected yet I'm still very much sticking around. I think the keepers concept is a good one. My only qualm with it, is that with 4 players off each team arguably removes the 72 best players off the comp right off the bat. The draft is than alot of mid range players and the excitement of the draft goes. My thoughts and I stress this is just a theory is that you select 2 'keepers' who are ranked below 100, and than 2 who are ranked > than 100. That way we keep some good players in the draft so that lower teams can move up the ladder etc etc but often teams have connections with higher ranked players (150-200) due to DPP or adding to a facet of scoring they need yet ranking doesn't match it. I don't think this would be too unfair on anyone as no-one has really traded in 4 guns yet... but would be interested in hearing people's thoughts and happy to be thrown down for a ridiculous idea!!

I'd refuse to get Dal Santo solely because of his small genitals.

It was an Essendon home game and I couldn't hear one of their supporters. In the final quarter I have never heard Melbourne supporters so loud, I had goosebumps. It's incredible what 17,000 Melbourne supporters can do when we're up and about- imagine what we'll be like when everyone gets committed and behind a winning team! Scary good.
-
Whilst I love the attitude we are still going to have some teething problems. The most important thing is us supporters know how good the vision is and how we must stick by them. That effort is the benchmark I want that every week but I'm realistic enough to say what we are doing isn't perfect YET. We can't get all negative when we have a loss- it'll happen just remember how good it worked tonight because I've never ever felt that sort of relief/ euphoria in my whole life than that final siren!

Couch is too slow for AFL level. They are working on lifting his speed, and his ability to set up in the zone before they play him. Makes sense. Secondly, I hope/have a feeling Garland or Rivers should line up at CHF. We need a bloke down there who can take a mark and would not be shocked to see that occur on Saturday night.

Quarter by quarter analysis - is fitness our problem?
Arrow replied to Hampton 22's topic in Melbourne Demons
Stupid reply. There's a clear distinction between wanting to win and having the killer instinct to pull it off. Jackie isn't saying they didn't care about winning she's saying they didn't have the determination and heart to win. This can be a regular scenario when a team is down on confidence, and has been twice shown by North Melbourne this year who clearly wanted to win the game but didn't have the heart to hold off Port.- 55 replies

He's either play Casey this week or next and after the pins removed earlier complications and soreness with the legs are largely subsided. Hopefully will play a big part for us for the next few weeks!

Have a look Robbo, think it's pretty reasonable?
-
It is an issue. I don't know how to resolve it but 3 good friends will always create drama. You've traded an A+++ player for an injured A/B+, a decent mid and 3 poor footballers. Each to their own

We can have 50 priority picks because if we haven't changed the culture of development in this club, we're just going to end up with 50 more Addam Marics. MFC aren't GWS or GC, we need some credibility back predominantly through our actions and on all 4's asking for more priorities isn't the right way to do it. Let's use our 3 first round picks this year- with a new infrastructure underway like it is at the present develop the [censored] out of them and not need to worry about one more priority pick in the clubs history. Let's win this premiership on our own two feet not given to us like the future 'asterisked' Carlton, GWS or Gold Coast ones will be.

we'll win 6 of the last 11

Message from the President...
Arrow replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hope the ones who Mark have lost is Moloney and Davey; that way it'll be easier to delist them come years end. I happen to know unequivocally that Mark has exceptional support of the players and his coaching compared to Baileys is far far more educational and hands on. From my source who is a current player is that the past few weeks they have been training the house down, he told me in the Bulldogs game that we'll win if we play like we trained but it's just not happening on the field at the moment. Sometimes it just takes some time for the training track drills to make sense in the real game and it appears to be that way currently. We have a few patches of good play re 1st quarter v Hawks but we lose our way. It'll come together, but people calling out Mark Neeld are really just ignorant buffoons. -
My apologies Fitzpatrick. Can't blame me, not like I actually saw him on Friday to be reminded...

In- Watts Green Jurrah Blease Out- Fitzgerald Bail Petterd Bate for mine

An interesting one for mine is Steven Salopek from Port Adelaide. Every time he plays he gets 25 touches. Very much a faster outside player who does hit targets but is simply out of favour with Primus. Could be a player who comes on if he moves away from the club. I'd certainly entertain offering him some money.
-
Having been lucky enough to play on the same field as him; that luck was quickly removed when he was playing on the other team. Kicked 10 of the best goals I've ever seen. Will be a star but will take time. I'm willing to wait for it.

UF Norm Smith and R. Flower Leagues (combined thread)
Arrow replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
I like the concept but I think the implementation at Round 6 of Promotion and Demotion is a touch unfair. I've had a horrid start to the year and have already twice turned down trades that would benefit me because I wanted to keep Priddis for next year. If I'm outnumbered, I'm outnumbered but I think the call needed to be made earlier. I missed the draft and am now playing catch up to keep in the league.. But whatever happen's ill follow. -
Purely out of curiosity are you at the game or watching on tv?
-
Im glad we agree on the first two José. That said ill always respect your decision to leave that dirty Stamford Bridge But on the serious note of Moloney and arguably Sylvia. There are two issues I see with the trade theory. i) look at the nature of the trading market. If a club is trying to sell a player the value is terrible. Mitch Clark went for a mid first round. When you look literally we got a 24 year old ready made player with a pick 12 whereas the previous year we got Lucas Cook with pick 11. Who knows what will happen there. In my opinion we underpaid for Clark. I think the best we could hope for re Moloney is a second round pick or a player swap. How many teams lack inside mids. These days- few. GWS? Maybe. We could get one of their young players but it furthers another issue. Melbournes record of getting rid of servants is beginning to look bad. Jmac is now looking somewhat of a mistake if not field wise certainly leadership wise. Bruce went and this year we WILL pull the plug on any or all of Green, Davey and Dunn all servants of the club. The club needs to create a culture where players see it as a desirable location and the media are making not only a case that we have no leadership but that are also unrelenting on loyal players. For someone who plays with his heart and also from all reports does set a good precident on the training track, IMO he is a player we could ill afford to move on.

He finished in the top 2% for the 20m sprint for the 08' draft class. If he has no pace look to blame the fitness staff, who have obviously changed his body shape because we picked up a quick one so you connect the dots.

Are you kidding?! Let me guess you're also one of the guys who said Clark is a waste of money and that Trengove will only ever be an average footballer? Re-watch the last quarter Moloney was one of about 4 who put his hand up. He bleeds Red and blue and that is considerably more than half of the people who pull on the jumper. All I can say is go watch the replay because it's a ridiculous comment and undeserving.

Bingo. He did maybe 3 or 4 good things in the last quarter but people are forgetting the first 3. So many poor errors and still does not run hard when he gets beaten in a contest. He's an extremely soft footballer. There were some good plays but it was far from a good game.
